      Probably one of the First videos that he posted on TH-cam. Back then I subscribed to Vice Grip Garage... Halfass Customs... Fitzy's Fabrications and a few others, but I usually only watch Mortske on a regular basis. I'm not saying that the others aren't good channels, because they are. But a guys whole day would be totally shot in the arse if he followed everything that he subscribed to. There just isn't enough time in the day. Ol Mortske tries to stay personable with all of his subscribers. The channel has grown, and it takes longer in some cases to get back to you but he usually does. Even if it's just a love. So far He hasn't locked us out in the North Dakota Cold. Which is good because Its flocking cold enough in Virginia tonight. I guess what I'm saying is, Mortske is all right. P.S. if you like Model A's and Model T's onewhocollects does some really good restoration videos all though they are usually under a half hour.

    So we have found part of your secret, thus: "...remember what you have and save things and keep trying and fitting until you get something that works!". In other words, subtle, but important changes in shape / size - which might escape the casual observer - are keenly important. Details count. Safety and "emissions standards" would certainly stick in my mind. So would "performance" improvements, if applicable. Or complexity.

    Great video. I love the 58 and 59. I just bought a 56 GMC Blue Chip that has had some work done to it.
    The thing that has baffles me the most is how one knows which parts from other vehicles could/will work on a build. You mentioned a 70s model truck and earlier model Impala. I would have no idea what to look for on another vehicle to fit in mine.

    • @MortskeRepair

      I guess I've been around this stuff my entire life so you just try stuff and remember what you have and save things and keep trying and fitting until you get something that works!! Coal is not pick up spring or bed friendly. Back in very early 60s we still had a coal furnace. A couple of times my dad feared the coal delivery might not make it in time before we ran out so he went to a local western PA mine to get a load in his '59 F100. When he pulled under the shoot they dropped enough to fill the short bed and it seemed like it all hit at once. Banged up the floor of the bed a bit and the truck instantly looked like a tail dragger. But never broke a spring. Leaf springs were....and are...tough.

    Awesome work: a really nice balance between originality and tasteful upgrades. You've continued the spirit of the original vehicle, but upgraded it in a way that the original designers would have done if they'd had the insight and technology. A question: do the biscuit engine mounts dampen vibration successfully? They seem awfully small compared to modern engine mounts.

Other then having money haha, Sorry if these questions are stupid I’ve never really dabbled in stuff much. Thanks

    I always rather the factory air box inless its intake screw the top air filter i feal every time i have a air fitler like edelbrock or just round filter on top i feal you get more air but its hot dirty air off the motor the factory air box take air away from motor some times ill flip the cover for better air

    • @MortskeRepair
      @MortskeRepair  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those open element air cleaners don't work so hot on dusty gravel roads like we drive. The factory style sealed air cleaners maintain the filters much better. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    G'DAY MORTSKE,uSWEET BUILD,Did you say at the end, regarding Labour,that you only had $100 labour,or 100 hours,? Regardless if it is 100 hours,that is a lot of fabricating and installing in that time, can't include time having "SANGA" breaks,or you nibbled on packed lunch continuously? I remember that when my interest in custom American iron was intensified in mid to late 70's( when I was impressionable 10-13 yr old,the CUSTOM TRUCK AND VAN magazines that I bought and scavenged from uncle's etc,the featured trucks had ALL these cool features 350 SBC,Turbo 350-400 transmission,the stepside rear pickup well(TUB) so you have mailed it!shame you didn't call DUFF in for a start up and cruise to local watering hole ( pub), parts store,diner, fishing spot, historically important spot,or junkyard, basically take us on a tour? could be a popular 2-4 parts series( next month=1 each week), As always, Kindest Regards, Dave McLaughlin Queensland Australia

      100 hours is roughly what I had into it to convert it all over. I should have recorded it but that was pre TH-cam days for Duff and I.
