Lucy's vast range, and the many other tools she has worked hard to place in her vocal tool-box, live within the already vast body of what is her work...and what is our blessing. To display them all in a single song would be a slap in the face of her talent (and make for one really crappy song!). Lucy does not just sing words with the best of them, she sings emotions with the best of them...and so young! I think she is 20 years old here and already she is making her mark as a generational singer with a deep well of talent. Lucy's voice, and her choice of songs, actually lowers my blood pressure! LOL Be well, an old hippie! :)
Well, it is an honor to have a flower-child among my listeners. 🥰 For me, the true enjoyment comes with her perfect pitch and most of all clarity of her voice along with the simplicity of her performances. So far, I think every she does is well measured and never overdone. Medicinal purposes are also very acceptable. 🤣
Thank you Alex's for a beautiful reaction to such is the wonderful Lucy Thomas. You are exactly right. Lucy tells a beautiful story in every performance. She is Class all by herself. Yes! A beautiful song made more beautiful by singing it the way it was meant to be heard.
Hello Alex, this is such a wonderful reaction to Lucy singing " I Dreamed A Dream " you are so right Lucy has covered this song as it should be, no tricks just her beautiful voice & it sounds just so amazing. Thank you so much for your reaction. Take care, Barbara.
Thank you, Barbara! I really think it's lovely that even in this day and age there are singers who simply sing, no gimmicks, no "noise", just a voice. Lucy is a great example.
I believe that Lucy has known how to sculpt, paint with soft, harmonious, sweet, simple and precise tones the character of Fantine in this beautiful song like no one else; great control and, as you say, without stridency, exaggerations and unnecessary fireworks. Thank you for reacting to this delicatesse.
I completely agree! Thank you so much Hector, it's such fun doing this when the people who listen to these reactions know their stuff and we understand each other so well. Thank you for that! 🥰

Hello again, Aleks! I loved your reaction, and, as always, love Lucy's performance. As you point out, she never oversells anything. Every song she sings, whether it be one of her myriad of covers or her Chris Broom originals, she sings simply and beautifully, with sincerity, and honesty, and feeling, and respect to the original artists. I can't imagine that any artist has heard her cover their work and not felt appreciative and thankful that she will never violate the integrity of the original song. I honestly believe she's too humble and respectful to showoff... that she doesn't want to outdo anyone. She just loves to sing, and relishes the joy it brings her to be able to do it as well as she does. She just makes every song she sings into something beautiful, the way I'm sure the composer hoped it would sound when it was being written. She has obviously worked VERY hard, and I'm sure still does, to do all she can to master her craft. And we're just the lucky ones who get to have our lives enriched by the sharing of her gift. She's a blessing to us all. Sorry... enough of my blathering. Perhaps it's prescient that you described her distilling every song into its classic form and making it a timeless evergreen. She actually covers the song, Evergreen (Barbara Streisand, the love them from the original "A Star is Born"). You should check it out. You'll be glad you did. --Jon (McCracken)
Thank you so much, Jon! I have to say I believe it's not that she doesn't want to outdo anyone, I believe she actually likes this simple, classical version of the song and knows she can do it justice. That really is what I enjoy most about her. A beautiful voice, a simple performance, and the song shines as it should. I've added Evergreen once again to the list. There's quite a few suggestions for Lucy and I will most likely get to it as I am going over her repertoire one at a time, gladly.
My apologies for the delay in my reply. It's hard to find older comments I haven't seen yet. I'm glad we agree on Lucy and I'm sure you know by now that I did complete my reaction to Evergreen. If you haven't seen it yet, I do hope you'll enjoy it if/when you do. ❤

Hello Aleks! Beautiful sad song but extremly well done from Nightingale LUCY! Exactly explained from you..liked your reaction ! Lucy always bring her performances to the main point with her clear and pure voice, with her expression and countenance. She is an brilliant actor and vocalist ❤ Greetings from 🇩🇪
Hi Aleks...Thank you for supporting Lucy. She is one of the best vocalist in the world right now. Lucy's talented and expressive performance brought me to tears. Lucy is something special. What a precious gem we have in Lucy!! Such a blessing.
With vocal quality of this exceptional standard, nothing else matters. I have said before that Lucy is a virtuoso vocalist and she always pays due respect to the beautiful songs that she chooses by honouring them with her superb vocals. Nothing more is needed. Thanks Alecks for your excellent reaction and support for Lucy.
Thank you, glad we agree. The lack of hoopla is precisely what I value in Lucy the most. Always classy and simple, yet beautifully sung. Happy to support her - hope she makes it worldwide. 😊
She could be the diva of divas she is that gorgeous but she is beyond that she is too humble and sweet thank God with the best of human and family values. She's the best!!!!!!!!.
I keep repeating this, but I'll say it again. In art, I don't believe in THE best, only ONE of the best. That being said, I do agree that she is one of the best! 😊
Lucy always instinctively knows how to sing a song without vocal gymnastics! This is hauntingly beautiful with her perfect tone, vibrato, and all of it so effortlessly done by the one and only amazing Lucy!
Hi Alexs. I think as one reactor has said. Lucy never attacks a song. She just sings it like it was meant to be sung. Her wonderful voice just makes the song more beautiful. This song needs no tricks. It’s not a circus. Thank you so very much for your wonderful insights and for your support of Lucy. Please stay safe, healthy, and free.
Ah, that is well put "never attacks a song". Now I envy that reactor. 😂 Obviously we agree on everything else, as you must have heard from my comments in the video. Wishing you all the best! ❤❤❤
Thank you for reacting to Lucy. As you point out, Lucy's talents are so great that she does not need videos, dancing, or gimmicks in her vocals. Her ability to convey emotion is unmatched. She is a phenomenal performer and vocalist. Lucy is the best
Happy to, as I do appreciate her. I'm sure you'll find out soon enough in my responses to other comments that I don't believe in "the best" when it comes to art, but I do believe in excellent, exceptional and/or extremely good. She's all that in my opinion. 😊
Excellent analysis, which I totally agree with. For me, Lucy is the first and the only one who manages to convey so much emotion without trying to over-sing or over-do it.
Thank you! Today, she is a rare example of an excellent singer who doesn't need bells and whistles to achieve what is the purpose of music - a thorough enjoyment in her voice.
A breathtakingly beautiful rendition of this song - sung by Lucy in character, as Fantine from Les Mis, expressing overwhelming remorse, anguish, despair, and sadness at her failure to realise her dreams. A truly heartbreaking rendition, sung with an emotional depth that I feel only Lucy is capable of delivering!
This in my opinion is high at the top of the renditions of this song. Over the years we've all heard quite a few and they vary in emotion and/or quality, but this is a really good one. Her voice was made for songs like this one.
No Lucy never adds things to a song just to try to make them sound different, but there are always slight nuances that she adds to make it her own, those that have followed Lucy for some years refer to them as Lucyisms!,this is a beautiful performance of this song that has become a standard!,her previous release was ' One moment in time',simply superb!.😊
I believe it's just a quality in her voice, at least that's how I hear it. Might not even be intentional, then again, I'm not a music expert really. One Moment in Time added to the list, along with other requests for that song. 😊
More Lucy please. I love everything she has done. Enjoyed your reaction to my favorite female favorite singer. Maybe try Evergreen next time. I think you'll love it.
I really wish TH-cam would update the way they show "unanswered" comments. They keep showing all I liked but did not reply to as "unanswered" and then it's hard to find the ones I never saw, like yours. There will be even more Lucy - once I find someone I like I keep going back. She is in that group. ❤ Thank you so much - I am very glad you enjoyed the reactions so far! Hopefully the future ones won't disappoint. ❤❤❤
Hi Aleks- glad you enjoyed it. Another perfect performance by our Wonder Woman of song. When she sang We Can Change The World, I commented that that song would be as iconic as Never Enough and some of the songs from Les MIs. And now she has done 1 of those songs. Hoping she soon does One Day More.
Indeed I have! Her choosing this song from Les Misérables is also a very good idea. Her voice and her style are just perfect for some of the classics, like this one.
One Day More is more an ensemble song than a solo vehicle. She has sung Eponine’s On My Own live and I wouldn’t be surprised to see a studio version soon if not the next release.
Oh thank you!!!! Just earlier today I was watching someone react to a Lara Fabian song and half way through there was a comment "huh! I thought she would carry a belt there" and my reaction was exactly that, why, just to prove that she can? Sometimes whether is through staying within your range or simply that its not necessary belting at every possible moment can be detrimental to the flow of a song. As you so well point out this performance had its soft and fluid sound because she didn't try to push it. I guess I would say a very well balanced, rounded out performance.
Thank you as well! We very much agree and you worded it precisely: "a very well balanced, rounded out performance". I can't believe anyone would expect Lara to belt for the purpose of belting, that woman's performances are filled with emotion and her style of singing is focused mainly on conveying the meaning of the song. That's the last singer on the planet one would expect to belt for no other reason than to show off...in my opinion.
Hello, Aleks 🙂 I think this is the best vocal performance I have heard by her so far. This song is practically tailor made for her timbre and beautiful vibrato. I also liked the very long, sustained note right at the end there, trailing of with a delicate vibrato. I very much agree with what you said about her not overdoing it. I have also noticed that before, and it is a HUGE plus in my book. This is something she also shares with my personal favorite singer. Great reaction as always! Love from Norway ♥♥♥♥♥ (I guess you have heard Susan Boyle's performance of the song on Britain's Got Talent as well ? )
Hello, Sharster! 😊 I am undecided - it's either this or Unchained Melody, but those two are my favorites so far. It seems that the classics suit her voice and her personality very well. I also loved how at the end not only did she hold that note, but how she enunciated it to the last letter. Seems like most of us who like Lucy like the same things about her - clear voice, no exaggerations. Yes, I have heard Susan Boyle's performance and for me, like for many others it was a very positive surprise. This reminded me of her, albeit, Lucy may be too young to add the pathos that Susan did. Still, she did pour her emotion into the song and it is felt. Love to Norway! ❤❤❤
