    What an incredible and enlightening class. I have been a Christian for 40+ years and this was the FIRST TIME it was so clearly explained to me … or until now I did NOT have the Spirit of God within me teaching me. Never too late. Thanks be to our Lord Jesus Christ that he is so patient 🙏

      chjaka I’ve worked on a sheep farm. The farmer when he calls his sheep says “here here here” and they come. So he’s making it the opposite of what it plainly says yet you delight in your conceit thinking yourself better than Christ who plainly says “hear my voice” not “drag you with a rope” I don’t need to turn to any other verse to explain what draw means in this context because it tells me right there in that verse what it means! You say turn to the meaning turn to the meaning then turn away from the meaning provided to you by Jesus. You have taken the meaning he himself provides and provided another. Might be okay with some other passages but definitely NOT in this one. Plainly says the sheep are the ones that here and come o. THEIR OWN VOILITION. Having heard. Granted they must be those given by the father but that is the preface, not the conclusion. The conclusion is those who are given come on their own violation for they ha e heard . It’s horse then cart not cart then horse

      @@madcow9421 Perhaps you weren't listening with open ears to the entire message? Sproul clearly mentioned the different meanings of the word draw. The same Greek word is used for drag. After all on the road to Damascus was Saul just drawn to Christ, No he was arrested by Christ and blinded. He was left with no other option but to see the truth spiritually by being blinded physically by the radiant brilliance of Christ. Christ compelled him/arrested him. He didn't draw him like you do with water.

      The response to your ridiculous comment is simple. When Christ speaks of sheep, he is referring to HIS sheep. That means people who have already been born again.
      Let's use your same apology. What happens when you try and move a sheep that doesn't belong to you? How do you move it? By DRAGGING.
      Maybe try studying a bit more before you make such ignorant comments.

    It's so cool how at some point Jesus said that only through him you can come to The Father, and here He said that the Father chooses or draws someone for Jesus, how amazing is that because it just shows how connected they are, that God is at the same time The Father, The Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.
    God Bless!

    • @michaelbanda9993

      Yup! Another reason for Calvinsm in the Trinity works in union in salvation. The father saves a people for Himself before the foundation of the earth, Jesus dies for them, and the Holy Spirit rejuvenates them and makes them born again.

      Sheep Dog
      No. It’s more like drawing a fox out of its den by setting bait by the hole. It’s done in a persuasive manner.
      The Gospel is how Jesus draws all men to Himself....
      2Cor 5: 18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
      19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
      20 ¶ Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
      Paul tried to persuade people.....
      1Cor 9: 20 And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law;
      21 To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law.
      22 To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.
      Why would Paul use different methods to persuade different people if your understanding of God drawing is correct?
      Acts 28: 23 ¶ And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.
      Maybe Paul wasn’t aware of “Calvinism”?

    • @evanu6579
      @evanu6579 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sheep Dog
      Why did he think he could persuade people?
      In Calvinism, elect are elect and will be saved regardless of methods. No need to persuade them. Non-elect cannot be persuaded. Why wouldn’t Paul just preach the Gospel and let the chips fall where they may?
      Do you believe regeneration precedes faith?

    • @evanu6579
      @evanu6579 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sheep Dog
      Swinging a hammer would be like preaching the Gospel. You shouldn’t have to use other persuasive measures to get the nail in the board. Convincing should be unnecessary.
      If the bible clearly stated that regeneration occurs after faith, would you feel the need to reconsider your position?

    • @evanu6579
      @evanu6579 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sheep Dog
      Jhn 7:38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
      39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
      All that believed would receive the Spirit after Jesus’ resurrection and ascension....
      Jhn 14: 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
      Jhn 15: 26 ¶ But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:
      Jhn 16: 7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
      The Holy Spirit is first given here....
      Jhn 20: 22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:
      So they didn’t receive the Holy Spirit until after the resurrection as Jesus stated in John 7. That’s well after the disciples believed, and many others as well......
      Jhn 2: 23 ¶ Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did.
      Luk 7: 50 ¶ And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.
      Even after the resurrection, faith still preceded regeneration.....
      Eph 1: 13 ¶ In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
      Acts 5:32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.
      Just to clarify what regeneration is. It is the indwelling of the Holy Spirit....
      Rom 8: 9 ¶ But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
      10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
      11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
      The disciples weren’t given life before the resurrection of Jesus....
      Jhn 14: 19 ¶ Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
      Peter was not yet converted....
      Luk 22: 32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.
      (Matt 18: 3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.)
      Let me know your thoughts.

      Yeah it’s pretty sad. The more you talk with them and point out the context of their proof texts, the more you see how this is a cult like all the others. They don’t believe based upon what the bible says, but the rhetoric that their leaders brainwash them with.
      God-centred vs man-centred
      God sovereignty vs man sovereignty
      They get them by making them think they’re elevating God and making man out to be more wicked, when in fact it’s taking the responsibility off of man and placing it on God. They make man out to be victims rather than the criminals that they really are.

      @chjaka " So, what you are saying is that you hating Calvinism does not necessitate that you hate the people that believe it. Gotcha." quoted from above where I did own up to that already. I am sorry and I understand the distinction. If you cannot respect me, then that is a personal maturity problem that you need to remedy, because I have done nothing wrong aside from what I have already mentioned. "Satanic Doctrine" , What an absolutely foolish statement. It is ridiculous opinion to have, especially since so many solid Christian teachers and theologians have been Calvinist. How exactly do you square with accusing Spurgeon, Knox, Luther, Calvin, Zwingly, Beza, MacArthur, Piper, Sproul, Lawson,, Whitefield, Bavnick, Schaff, Ferguson, Hodge, Turrentin, and hundreds perhaps thousands of other guys who lived God glorifying lives as Christ-loving Calvinists. To call it "Demonic" is absolutely reprehensible not only to me, but to Christ himself. I pray you take off your anti-Calvinist glasses and study the doctrines of grace with an objective attitude. I have nothing to repent of brother, but I hope you come to an understanding of the truth. No luck needed, and I will surely seek the Lord.

    who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.

    An implication from R C Sproul's exposition: the fall of man into sin and depravity is 100% total and infinitely radical.
    The effect of his redemption by God is also just as radical and the resulting change in his character and life will be just as radical over time through the process of sanctification.
    Am I correct in this conclusion?

    The necessary condition is being human, and having the ability to reason. In other words all men. Romans 1:20. Sproul also gives a good illustration of how the word "can" can come to have two different subtle meanings, but then seems to forget all about that when going on about the translation of the word "drawn".

    • @CourtneyBrimm
      @CourtneyBrimm 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      He didn’t say “can” has two meanings, but that it has come to be used to mean two different things. “Can” does not refer to permission, yet that’s how it’s often used today. It speaks to capability. No man is capable of coming to the Son unless the Father draws him.
      What are the different meanings of “drawn” that you could use here. Drawn as in “pulled towards” or drawn as in “sketched with a writing utensil?” Both would speak to it being up to the Father to pull or to sketch (create) one as a believer or not.

      Do you accept salvation on Jesus’ terms, that you are a sinner with no hope in yourself nor your own good works but totally resting and leaning on Jesus alone for salvation? Has your relationship with sin changed? Do you hate the sins you once loved and justified when you were unsaved, not merely because of sin’s consequences but because you now desire to please God and stop sinning against him? Then you are one of the elect. Only the Holy Spirit can change a man’s heart to seek after God and please Him on His terms.

    If memory serves, all of the OTHER uses of the Greek word for "drag" in the New Testament carry with them the idea that the "dragging" in question is not ultimately resistible, though it also implies that it is resisted. I.e., the force of the "dragging" employed is sufficient to overcome the real resistance of the thing/person "dragged." Therefore, it seems reasonable to assume the same for John 6:44. Synergists will then try to finagle their way out of the box the Lord Jesus has put them in by citing the next verse, v. 45:
    [John 6:45 NKJV] "45 "It is written in the prophets, 'And they shall all be taught by God.' Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me.""
    But this verse merely reiterates v. 44 in a different sense using other words.

    What of those in Acts 2, Acts 10, and Acts 19? All of which had come to God before recieving the Holy Spirit?
    None in the church would say they were not drawn by God, certainly the Apostles were called by Christ Himself and given to Him by the Father, as Christ Himself said in John 17:12. However there was no Holy Spirit in them to "regernate them".
    Sproul also starts his lecture with his "universal negative" statement, but then proceeds to ignore the universal positive statements in scripture explaining exactly who it is the Lord "draws" to Christ. 1 Timothy 2:3-6 (God "will have all men to be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth") and 2 Peter 3:9 (God is "not willing that any should perish but that all men should come to repentence") being but a couple.
    The problem with ignoring scripture in lieu of word studies is that we come to unscriptural conclusions when we seperate those words from the context of scripture as a whole. Both methods must be taken together, humbly and prayerfully, before forming a conclusion, in order to reach a biblical doctrinal end.

There are some prisoners that feels comfortable behind the bars and prefer not to be freed. Man can't go to Christ, but may desire to try. I know a person that defines herself as atheist, but pray and ask for Christ to show in her life, but still she can't see nor feel Him. She can't go to Him, but desires Him to go to her. I know for a fact it is just a matter of time, but still she is a sinner craving for God. Also about the free will fact....I've never heard these doctors talk about the fact that Adam and Eve eated from the tree of good and evil, so they can recognise what is G and what is E and many unbelivers chose what is G instead of what is E

    Can someone explain to me how Rom. 1:20 ties into this? If man is without excuse, is man not actively choosing hostility to God? And if he is without excuse, does that not mean he has a choice to choose God? While being in the flesh?

    • @Mikael5732
      @Mikael5732 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Man has no choice or better stated, man does not have the ability to look to God for salvation unless God draws man to Christ, who is God.
      God is perfect and in the beginning man fell from grace when he, man, sinned and disobeyed God in the garden of Eden. Man (who is imperfect) was cursed (by a perfect God) with physical and spiritual death.
      Now that seed of sin, the curse of physical and spiritual death, is passed on to all of man's offspring, hence all men die physically and spiritually, unless...a necessaty condition is met to save man from that end.
      Now, if God did not, by His mercy and grace, make a means for man to be saved from the enevitable consequence of the inherent sin he possesses from birth, God would be just to send all men to hell, (condemnation) and would be just in doing so since God can do no wrong.
      [ Romans 1:20 ..invisible attributes...This specifically refers to the two mantioned in this verse. "by the things that are made" The creation delivers a clear, unmistakable message about God's person. (Pss 19:1-8; 94:9, Acts 14:15-17; Acts 17:23-28) ] notes on Romans 1:20 taken from John MacArthur study bible.
      God has no obligation to do anything for mankind...but has pulled out or sovereignly chosen an (elect group of people) to redeem. Hard to understand completely because we are not an infinite creator who is perfect, remember, you have absolutely no ability to stop yourself from dying physically and even less ability to stop spiritual death. We are at the mercy of a perfect God, who, would be just if He sent us all to perdition, condemnation...because we deserve it.
      Yet.....God did do a merciful act by providing a way to escape the spiritual death...and that was by taking on, having your sin attributed to His (Jesus's account), having your entire sinful life imputed to Christ, while having Christ's righteousness, imputed to your account so that, when an almighty and perfect God looks at you, He sees the righteousness of His perfect son Jesus, who died on your behalf. And it is a merciful act you could never pay for if your life10 trillion years performing good deeds of righteosness. For our righteousness is but filthy rags before God.

      @@Mikael5732 Hi Mike, I understand this. We are saved through Jesus Christ. But it is not the answer to my question.
      If we are without excuse to acknowledge God, as Romans 1:20 says...then faith must come before regeneration.
      If we do not have the ability to look to God then WE DO have an excuse (i.e. we can say our excuse is that we simply don't have the ability to look to God) and then Rom. 1:20 is not true.

      wspek man is without excuse because God has clearly made himself known in creation. People who live in the Amazon jungle who have never seen a white man, let alone hear from a preacher the word of God. Are still aware that God exist. I wasn’t heard a story from a missionary who went and witnessed to a cannibal tribe living in the jungle. The missionary said that when they had killed and eaten another tribe member, they buried the bones. Ask yourself why bury the bones? They didn’t bury animal bones. The reason the missionary gave was, that there conscience convicted them that they had done wrong, and they buried the bones to hid there guilt. But you’ll probably ask, hid there guilt from who? The obvious answer would be God as the law of God is written in their hearts, knowing the difference between good and evil. So men are without excuse for they know God exist.

    Most Believers KNOW no one can save themselves. We cannot do anything to save ourselves, God gives us the faith to believe and God give us understanding to heed His Words as the Bible tells us. God also works in us and around us to give us the desire to be saved. But in Eph. 1:4-5 where He chose us to be Christians and verse 5 He chose us to be His children, it seems to me just a simple mind, HE CHOSE everyone born -to have that opportunity to be saved and His children. Peter and Timothy both say it is God's will for all to be saved. John 1:12 says as many as receive Jesus, He gives the right to be His children. Acts tells us who ever calls on the name of the Lord may be saved. John tells us HE Has chosen us and we are very thankful. But God loves the world, He wants all to be saved and He works in all. Those who believe He gives power to be His children. Yes He knows everything, who will and who will not, He may just leave the hardhearted in that state. But all have the opportunity to believe and Be saved. Wouldn't you think??

  • @TheKing-qz9wd
    @TheKing-qz9wd 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Now wait a moment. The flesh still profits nothing because the flesh is the reason why you need to be saved. The problem cannot then be the solution. To feel the conviction of hearing the perfect law of God and consent, how does give praise to the flesh? Moments ago the flesh only knew to compare itself with other sinners to make it feel better about itself. Now it knows it is in sin, the flesh is given an ultimatum by God. Either step down in fealty or stand up in defiance.
    Is this because of some idea that God, in His supremacy and sovreign authority, cannot be enabled to do something by His creation? Is this because of an idea that faith is entirely a gift of God and unnatural in sinful humanity?
    But the Lord has enabled the choice, that whosoever believes upon the Son might then see eternal life, and sinful humanity puts its faith in the creation and denies the Creator who is blessed forever. Obviously we have a measure of faith imparted into us at birth like how we have a measure of strength imparted into the tiny baby body, for if when we grow old we are able to misplace it, we must have a faith that can be misplaced.

    No statement of scripture can be interpreted outside of the immediate context of its original setting, or out side of the total context of the eternal words of the Eternal Word manifest in Flesh, who said three times , in the three synoptic Gospels, heaven and earth will pass away but My words will never pass away.
    The context of John chapter 6, is John chapter 5v39, you have not God the Father's word abiding in you , you the One He has sent you do not believe, Search the scriptures fo in them you think you have Eternal Life , and they testify, or witness to Me, and you will not come unto Me that you might have Life.
    V46m for if you had beleved Moses you would believe Me, for He wrote about Me , but if you do not believe His writings , you will no believe My words.

Not only that, but when you look at the context of John 3 it's speaking of seeing God's KINGDOM as a result of being saved. In other words, you have to be saved to make it to heaven. RC is interpreting it as you can't see Jesus at all without being saved as if Jesus doesn't reveal Himself to the unsaved. Come on RC! haha. We have to choose to accept what Jesus has presented to us. We're not dragged into being saved.

      John 15:13-14 K.J.V
      Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
      Ye are my friends, IF ye DO whatsoever I COMMAND you.
      John 15:13-14
      Matthew 4:17 K.J.V
      From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, REPENT: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
      Matthew 4:17
      Matthew 9:12-13 K.J.V
      But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.
      But GO ye and LEARN what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but SINNERS to REPENTANCE.
      Matthew 9:12-13
      Romans 9:18 K.J.V
      Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.
      Romans 9:18
      I wonder IF calvinists have ever applied (Proverbs 28:13 K.J.V) to (Romans 9:18 K.J.V).
      Proverbs 28:13 K.J.V
      He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but WHOSO CONFESSETH and FORSAKETH them shall have MERCY.
      Proverbs 28:13

    Face facts. It's mostly about fear. People talk a lot about love, mercy and justice, but ultimately what makes God God is the ability to say what goes wether we understand or not. It's the classic might makes right.
    Nothing is more unreasonable than silence and stonewalling.

      God shows His love plainly and also shows that there is right and wrong plainly. He is a just judge and we have all fallen short of His pure and holy law. A just judge punishes crimes. God is also a merciful Father who sacrificed His willing Son to atone for our sins and justify us so that justice could be served and we could be restored to Him. God is not silent, you just don’t hear or feel Him because you hate Him and His sovereignty. I was the same way before God saved me and opened my eyes. I hated God for the vast majority of my life and thought it was unfair that God gets to dictate His creation. God is here and He is merciful and loving. We don’t deserve love or mercy, we’ve broken all of His laws and acted as rebellious enemies our whole lives. The fact that He is willing to forgive us to the point that He had come and died for us is astonishing. I’m praying for you ❤
