Screws do not have the same shear strength as nails which means they can break more easily than nails. For connections like wall studs to plates nails are much stronger. Assemblies like door panels and trim do not have shear loads on them so the screws work better. But it is just a generator shed so screws would work just fine on the whole thing.:)

You are likely correct if you use the polymer coated deck screws their shear strength may be similar to a nail. It is the black "grabber" screws that are easily broken. Check the wood chapter 23 of the 2009 IBC for nails and staples. Thanks for watching.

Kudos for the video content! Sorry for butting in, I would appreciate your initial thoughts. Have you tried - *WoodBlueprints. Com* It is a great one of a kind guide for building better sheds and woodworking without the normal expense. Ive heard some decent thin.gs about it and my cousin finally got astronomical success with it.?

I’ve built houses (to code), so I can say from experience, that this is a good job and good tutorial. And by the way, hold your hammer which ever way you feel comfortable! Whatever gets the job done whether you’re male or female, it doesn’t matter.

Would be nice if there some instructions for the optional side door. Neither the video or instructions give any advice. Specifically (with optional left door) how to attach the front left corner to the floor given that there is no baseboard in either direction from the corner.

Can I use screws, or is it better to use nails?

Yes screws will work but you must use deck screws as they are coated to not rust and stronger so they dont break.

What is the reason for not using screws for the whole project? why switch to nails for the framing?

nails have better shear strength, bend instead of break. screws have greater tensile strength.

Try holding the hammer like a man not some girl. Grip it at the end of the handle and use your wrist, not your whole arm.
