Unclogging Culvert Pipe, First Draining Of 2023 And It Was Awesome

  • I do not encourage anyone to enter culverts, unclog anything, or enter flooded areas as it can easily become deadly without the proper training
    I unclog drains for fun in my spare time (I have been trained in culvert inspections for years with private co.) and I am osha trained.
    Exploring anything abandoned can be dangerous or deadly without experience. I don't encourage anyone to enter any abandoned structures. Not only is safety a concern, but often times its illegal, and when possible I seek out permission from the owner or local police. I simply go to document its history before it's gone forever and I leave things the way I find them. I only take pictures and only leave footprints. I assume all the risks and responsibility before doing this. Please don't attempt to do this on your own. There could be nails, asbestos, falling concrete, soft floors, animals, or other hazards. Thanks for watching.

    Blue pipes look like groundwater monitoring wells. Usually blue or black plastic tube with a white cover. A two-inch well is inside that 5/6 inch collar/riser or casing. Just a protection and access-limitation device (the cover can be padlocked to keep randoms from messing with the wells), plus more noticeable (easier to find) if a larger diameter collar is used instead of the naked 2 inch well when located in wilder or unmaintained land. GPS has made finding wells way easier than it used to be some 20 years ago, for sure.

      I'm inclined to think you are correct and the better answer though it could also be something else. Where I grew up, we saw something similar but they were placed every so many meters where a new gas line was installed. They were yellow and had green and white labels saying it was a gas line. Kids eventually knocked them down and there was nothing to them... they were just held upright with rebar and concrete.

      @@crarazy They can be used to protect access ports for septic system flushouts, or other similar purpose fixtures. I do environmental monitoring and have seen a zillion wells over the years, so monitoring is my first thought wherever I see one. Not always what they are, but usually is. Having a field of them, several in a yard, would worry the heck out of me if they were monitoring wells. Fairly normal for many wells at industrial sites. Residential though? Not a good sign.

    I just love these videos. I don't know why though. I think it's also the simplicity of it all - a man with a rake. The bloke is so sincere and so genuine and really in to what he does and that is so refreshing. There's also something about making water flow properly and unclogging drains, etc.

    A hero is not a violent man. No a hero does a act. That single-handedly helps many people.

    • @LucidDream
      @LucidDream 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      A half-truth disguised as wisdom. Why? Because violence is sometimes the act that must happen in order to help others. We've seen plenty examples of that in war and in civil life. To really know yourself you must understand your own shadow. Your ability to affect the world around you. So you understand what you are capable of. So that you respect yourself and that others do as well. Everyone has one. It's one of the reasons why some comic book type heroes are so boring to people. You can't be wholly good. It's not realistic.

    • @xPumaFangx
      @xPumaFangx 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@LucidDream I never said a word about violence bro. You did.
      Take, for example, a person who gets locked out of a car. Then calls the police to have them shim the car open. Then the person calls that police officer a hero.

      I've only got an 1080p display, but the image quality was much better when streamed with 1440p or 2160p. Even the yellow road markings were pixely with what they call "1080p". And that wasn't even splashing water, but a slow moving car. Which means that YT compress videos so extreme that it loses major parts of the details, their "1080p" appears more like 480p!
      Thanks for pointing this out @post10. Their "2160p" was slightly better than "1440p", which means that "2160p" finally provides a true 1080p (1440p appeared similar to a true 720p on my display, which still is far better than 480p)

    • @ThaBeatConductor
      @ThaBeatConductor ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@skayt35 TH-cam uses a different and way better codec for 1440p and 2160p. The numbers have nothing to do with pixel count and everything to do with bitrate and codec. Also, render methods affect the sharpness of youtube videos quite significantly, though any videos with a high amount of tiny moving things like water, glitter, 10,000 bouncy balls, all will look terrible with the 1080p or lower codec.

    • @ubermidget2

  • @luckyluke5638
    @luckyluke5638 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    Hey man, the reason why your 4k footage looks much better may not only because of the resolution. At 1440p and above TH-cam will tend to use the VP9 codec, below that it'll tend to use the AV1 codec which pixelates more. You can see which codec is being used by right-clicking on the video and click "Stats for nerds", under "Codecs".
    On your newer videos (even the 1080p ones) it seems like TH-cam uses VP9 more, but your older videos very often use AV1 I see. All that to say that if you ever get stuck with TH-cam choosing AV1 again, thus ruining your footage, there are editing tricks you can find online to force TH-cam to pick VP9.
    Hope that all makes sense. Have a good one!

    This is so satisfying, and thank you for the good work.
    Also the problem with TH-cam quality is not storage but bandwidth, because the compression algorithm requires more bandwidth the more moving elements they are, when it hits the cap the image gets more blurry. That's why snow or confettis are so bad usually. 4K videos get a higher bandwidth cap, so you're less likely to have that problem, and you can get better quality even if your display is 1080p.

    Those pipes are for underground electrical wires for the oil wells. They have electrical connection every 250 feet or so. Just in case the wire goes bad or something, they can replace just sections instead of all of it. On a side note Post, I do believe you are not too far from my house. I remember you looking at a swamp in Keating Township and that’s not to far away. You should Google map the Kinzua Dam and look above it and see the perfect circle man made dam!! I think you can actually still go up and see it.

He needs a day dedicated to him or a key to the city as the do for other's. I'm from Wisconsin & I appreciate what he's doing for them.
