Bug. What a song. Thank you so much for working with me again on this one. It's such a good song and I'm so so happy with our music video!
Hope everyone enjoys it as much as we did!!!
There’s so much wit to the lyrics, but the animation helps to bring even more. Thanks for all the work you do with your music videos! They never fail to entertain. :)
The sleeping bag design was so clever, by the way.
You are the best. So, so glad we crossed paths… So we could play rocket league. Oh, and I guess this animation stuff too! 😂
You nailed this one. Your best work yet (and that’s saying something)
@@RedChairGaming If you look closely, you will see other clever and humorous touches throughout the video, such as the list of side effects on the medicine bottle (I can't recall them all because I'm a bit forgetful), the status/warning message on the washing machine, the Bug Hunter logo on the headboard of the bed, and the illustrations of the two guys who had mishaps at the zoo. Those are the ones I spotted. Perhaps there are more.
pls work together more with each other, the main reason I got into both of your works was because of this video
This looks beautiful and wonderful thank you for making this
Wholesome song, don't get me wrong. But are we not going to mention how Robert has killed 2 people at the zoo, wrong a MAFIA BOSS, and somehow wronged the actual ghosts of Christmas future, present and past?? What the hell did this man do in his life
I think he ratted out the boss, had the two killed at the zoo when he was in the mafia
@@tfordham13 ok but that doesn't explain the 3 fuckin ghosts of christmas
@@normalchinesetoaster6150 he was visited but didn't change
And the fact that he supposedly murdered a butler for no reason??
@@masonbruner1239 he just fired the butler from what I can tell, big difference
Robert has a 2 bed but still makes Bug sleep in the cellar in a sleeping bag. Very inconsiderate, Robert.
I didn't think about that!
The 30 year old sleeping bag in the basement is the second bed
I mean if someone doubted what you said when you needed help would you be happy
There is a reason why there were so many suspects for who the ghost was.
Probably cause his wife used to sleep there, seriously it's his wife
"The old man screamed my name : 'Neighbor Guy!' " Damn bro what a name, this man is a true legend 😔😔😔
I always heard Neighbour Bug! Funny those are really the lyrics
I thought it was neighbor dan
I thought it was Neighbor Don!
I heard neighbor doug
i heard Neighbor Gone
Everyone's talking about how sweet it was. I'm more impressed by the speed at which the neighbor guy reacted and his dedication to his friend despite being probably terrified.
Never has a story of a wife trying to off her husband been so sweet. Great song, Bug
I really did take the premise and said “now how do I make people cry?”
@@BugHunter *And it worked.*
@@BugHunter You actually did make me cry lol.
@@BugHunter adhklr1690a4d1
@@BugHunter maybe the real song were the friends we made along the way
Man, Robert was up to some real shit in his younger days. It's kind of a marvel he made it this long with the enemies he made.
2 mishaps at the zoo. This was obviously before health and safety.
And the only person that haunted and terrorised him was his WIFE
Sup bro
Not to mention he wronged a mafia boss and also wronged the literal Ghost of Christmas Future, Present, and Past.
@@aquaspidermc i dont think she would have terrorise him its just that he is grieving and that her death is terrorising him and is thinking this way because he's mentally struggling
2:16 was honestly one of the most powerful moments. she cares about the vase, keeping it from falling.
💀
Probably her ashes 💀
@@FURIOUSNOOB1211 oh no
Ok but lets ask the real question did he you know get with his ghost wife
Must be her ashes.
"robert, you see, death's a one-way street, and I can't find my way back home" rips my fucking heart out idk if its the lyrics themselves or the tune or the vocals but OW
Yeah that part always makes me tear up
I really don't cry easy. But something about "I don't remember you being this quick" just completely puts me in tears.
The wink from the wife when she says that is so cute too! So much familiarity being implied, stuff that can only come from a relationship that is strong af and probably precious to and cherished by both of the people in the relationship
So... Did she end up killing him? I feel like I'm missing something and I'm too dumb to know
@@enigmatic3194 that's what confuses me too. If she killed him it would either be 0 ghosts or 2 ghosts there. It makes it look like he just sold his house and moved away from his wife's ghost.
@@jakobsthillert15 yeah that's my initial thought too
@@enigmatic3194 I read it as he moved away; there is a spirit in that house trying to kill him. But also you could more metaphorically take it as "we have to move on from the passing of our loved ones".
I really think the animation needs more appreciation. There are so many easter eggs, for example the pill bottle says forgetfulness multiple times. And how the paranormal occurrences are explained as normal things then later shown to be actually from a ghost.
Deep blue ink is amazing!
The fact you learn about Robert even simple things like his name make this song that much more personal. I love it. Been a fan for two years after finding panic! At the disco and I never looked back. From time to time I join ur streams on TH-cam. I appreciate you making music. Not sure if I want to gatekeep you or show everyone your songs
The latter works for us! 😅
I really did not expect this to make me as emotional as it did. Old people are my cryptonite, man. Great song.
Ladybug has yet to watch the video without crying. Thank you!
Kryptonite
Well, we are talking about ghosts… maybe cryptonite is the best spelling here 😂
I thought it was just me
same
Finally we know Bug's true name. "Neighbour Guy"
''robert you see deaths a one way street, and i cant find my way back home'' always gives me goose bumps and gets me a bit emotional this is such a banger
2:07 Neat detail, the washing machine says 'run'.
Every time I hear the wife's chorus I actually just start tearing up. I love your work, such an amazing song!
fr fr
The fact that at 2:13 Robert yelled neighbor guy was so hilarious to me, your such a good singer but also funny too! Keep it up man!
Thank you!
Thanks, I was trying to figure out what he said!
How he said it is really cool imo
I'd also like to point out, for very funny moments, "And it wasn't the guy from the mishap at the zoo/ or the other guy from the other mishap at the zoo" I stg when I heard that the first time I burst out laughing. That zoo's looking at some nasty lawsuits.
Maybe the neighbor's name is guy
There's a small handful of songs that can make me cry and 2/3 of them are yours. Thank you bug you're a star.
🥺 thank you!
For real, Bug's songs pull hard on the heart strings.
True, made me cry
This and Dear McCracken make me so needlessly emotional
I've listened to this song a dozen times in the past couple of weeks since being introduced to Bug's music, but I've never teared up until having faces put to Robert and his wife.
As a long-time Bug Hunter listener, it makes me SO happy to see this music video getting so much love and attention - a love that is 100% deserved for something with so much care (and scare!) packed into it
Thanks :)
Bug Hunter and DeepBlueInk, you have absolutely outdone yourselves. I can’t even read the lyrics to this song now without involuntarily bursting into tears.
Oh no! (But thank you 😅)
500th like
Yeah
That ending really got me close to tears, especially the "And I can't find my way back home". Great song Bug, every time I listen to a new one I find another song I love
same, that really hit me
Made me ball the first time I heard it
it still makes me cry. this is like my 20 time listening to it
1:26 got me 😢
Buddy, I just happened upon this song on Spotify and I loved the aesthetic, I thought it was gonna be a goofy song about a haunting, and then when the chorus comes up I realize it’s much more. Beautiful metaphor and ideology behind the supernatural and why it happens. Then you pull it back with a real haunting a purposeful cause that hits right at home. This song has more depth and thought than most horror movies these days and I think it’s beautiful. I’m a fan of yours.
Thanks for giving it a shot!

the wife says she can't find her way back home...
WHILE INSIDE OF THEIR HOME
He is her home
@@intrusive...thoughtsHis wife is probably saying that as in she can't seem to interact with him and get his attention to tell him Hey I'm still here.
I'm assuming she isn't fully there. Like she's slipping into someplace else trying to cling into a wall and she will fall.
Robert is honestly a man to relate to. Losing your possible husband or wife could make living alone insanity. It could be honestly one of the darkest feelings. And something we all possibly fear.
Do you relate to the part where he wronged/got a bunch of people killed?
I didn't think so, maggot

This animation style is pretty damn slick. It reminds me of those classic early 2010+ animations for some reason. Same goes for the song. This is dope. Lovin’ it more than my endless desire for Large Cokes at McDonalds

Why do I love such a random, wholesome, dark song so much but I’ve been playing this on repeat it’s just… incredible
I watched this song once and instantly fell in love with it 10/10
Thanks!!
Been obsessed with this since the live show last month, and now it's here and it's so good!! All the different moving parts, tempo changes and attention to detail in the instrumental really bring the whole thing together, and I don't think I'm ever going to not laugh at "the other mishap at the zoo."
And DeepBlueInk did such a good job with the animation! Brings the whole story together and adds so much sentimentality and detail to Robert's life and haunted house!
the song is very poignant and sad and all but it's hilarious to me how his response to his wife's heartfelt plea was to move the hell away and implicitly leave his wife
He might have oofed him self
@@hankith3490 Then wouldn't it have been either two beds, two baths, and two ghosts, or just two beds and two baths?
I think it was supposed to be implied that he died so he could join his wife
@@margaretblackford5418 then it'd be two beds two baths and two ghosts. Not one
@@Hyaskus I was in Margaret's camp before, but you make an excellent point. Jerk. XD
i honestly didn't expect a real ghost when he said: "my daily meds, i can never find em"
now, the objects moving would be explainable, he moved them when he was getting all weird due to not taking his meds, and by the next day he doesnt remember it. soccer ball in the tree would be a kid kicking it there. the stuff falling would also be a byproduct of him not finding his medicine or natural decay
(the no meds part of the falling objects is him moving the shelves and stuff like that, causing the plates and things like that to fall)
but it was a ghost
What i think is one of the most wholesome things in this story is that all the dead people that were first suspected to haunt him, didn't do it. Showing that they have forgiven robert for whatever he did, it shows some real human decency
Or they had other things going on. I mean, when I die, I might get around to haunting everyone who wronged me EVENTUALLY. I've just got to prioritize.
Man I didn't expect something with animation this cheesy to have me getting a little weepy lol. It's simple and cute but very very effective. The transitions between scenes are super well done and I love the little visual gags.
Bug the way you deliver emotion is something else man. It just comes from somewhere so genuine and real that even after listening to your songs for a few years now I occasionally catch myself in an emotional moment still. The narrative in this one is very nice and as always, super catchy.
Found this by accident, I won't lie it made me tear up multiple times. Great work to all who worked on this!!!
Robert is just awesome. Literally the best character in a song. Words can't explain how great robert is.
My favorite character I’ve ever invented
one thing i appreciate and adore about bug hunter’s songs is how he plays with his storytelling and narration of perspectives, very immersive and close to life and closer to a person i think. each section here is so impactful on its own and of course, when connected altogether. also man, robert sure picked a bone with a lot of people AND other creatures… good choice in its inclusion though, i feel like it put even more character and intrigue? to the old man instead of being just an old man (which is fine too).
this is such a great song partnered with an amazing animation to boot! thank you for sharing.
This is SO amazing! The song *and* animation are just above and beyond. And the emotional journey? Went from almost crying, to uneasy, to laughing, to almost crying again. I cannot *wait* to share this with my dad, I think he'll love it more than I do! I don't know yet if this my favorite Bug song, because they're all so good, but I have recently decided that you're my favorite artist, period. Now I'm going to set this on repeat until I have a headache :p
Thank you so much Katie!! I’m honored!!
@@BugHunter Update: my dad does indeed love the song, as expected, haha! Like me, he **also** nearly cried. (Also, I've listened to this song for a cumulative 6 hours now)
I still can't over how good you are at story telling in song form, I think that's why you're my favourite song writer and I'm so surprised not more people make animatics of your music cause I literally want to animate scenes from your music everytime I listen to them.
(Also! I'm a huge deepblueink fan, so happy you're working together again)

lyrics: The old man next door says his house is haunted
He says a ghost keeps him awake
I think he's having a hard time, to be honest
Since his darling passed away
But he fears that a phantom
Has finally found him... some nemesis that never quit holding a grudge
The old man next door says his house is haunted
It's best to be upfront with some tough love
I said Robert I'm so sorry
Your house ain't haunted
You're just not used to bein' alone
Robert all the creaks and shifts are just the sounds you missed
When you shared your home
He says: no, no, no, no no no...
I've had some close calls with falling items
I'm duckin' picture frames and dinner plates and all
All my daily meds: I can never find 'em
They're put in places that I never would've done
And the furniture shifts and it caused me to trip
I wake up with my pillow on my face every night
It sounds silly but this house is tryin' to kill me
Will you come see?
Just stay with me?
Just stay with me one time?
I said Robert I'm so sorry
Your house ain't haunted
You're just not used to bein' alone
Robert all the shifts and creaks are just the signs of grief
Now you're living on your own...
But okay, I'll go...
And I can't help but feel absurd because nothing
That I've heard from the downstairs room
Is of paranormal origin, it's 4 am, this poor old man is just confused
But wait
I hear footsteps... on the stairs...
They're gettin' louder and louder... Above me... They're stomping
I pray it's just Robert until I hear him scream my name
NEIGHBOR GUY!
And I go running up the stairs, jumping three at a time
And I'm fully unprepared for the terrors I will find
I burst into the room and by the light of the moon
It's a ghost as real as both me and you
And it wasn't the butler that he sacked without cause
Or that surly groundskeeper or that mafia boss
Or his old business partner that he stabbed in the back
Or the ghost of Christmas Future, Present or Past
And it wasn't the guy from the mishap at the zoo
Or that other guy from the other mishap at the zoo
No, of all the spooky specters Robert wronged in his life
The ghost floating between us was his darling dead wife
And she said
Robert, I'm so sorry
Didn't mean to scare you
I'm just not used to bein' alone
Robert, ya see, death's a one way street
And I can't find my way back home
Robert, I figured I'd just come getcha
I thought a haunting might do the trick
Robert, I'm sorry, I thought it'd be easier
I don't remember you bein' this quick...
The old house next door's got a sign out front now
A for sale sign tied to a post
So, attention shoppers, you can make an offer
On a 2 bed, 2 bath and a Ghost
Hope this helps if you wanna sing it
Amazing ty

I love how deepblueink made Robert’s wife slightly transparent when she wasn’t revealed yet to show that the figure is a ghost, and shows explanations to why everything that was happening was happening even though it was a ghost- Robert’s wife is really good at hiding herself to others

I love how the neighbor explains the paranormal activity, but the music video also explains how it was the ghost.
My only remaining family members are my grandparents, who are 87 and 84. Most days are still good but the future is inevitable. When the those appeared and was Robert's wife something inside me gave way and a wail of despair just came out of me. I love the fact that at the part where you were running to the room, you added the organ, really gives the haunted house feel! Amazing job btw, this is great!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!! But does this mean that Robert moved out? Shouldn’t it be “2 bed, 2 bath, and 2 ghosts?”
Hey now, don't expect honesty in marketing from real estate agents. They can't hide that there's a ghost there, the thing is too dang obvious, but they can hide the quantity. It's not two ghosts, they'll say, it's just one. Nevermind that the cabinet doors are banging across the house from the washing machine which is sending out spider venom knstead of water. Frigging real estate agents only love you as far as they can make your pen move to the contract, and once that's done, they're out for martinis off that fat commission.
I hope that doesn't imply that Robert left the house and is still alive and trying to sell it. 😶
I've been worrying about that!

Well this got me way more choked up than I was prepared for. This absolutely slaps, and now I'm all weepy. But.... is Robert selling the house with his wife's ghost still in it? Is he dead too, and if that's the case, did only one of them get to pass on, so they still aren't together? Are we underselling the number of ghosts in the house? Did Robert die, and they passed on together, and now it's purely haunted by one of the guys from the zoo incidents?
I'm thinking the way Neighbor Guy noped out at the end when Darling Dead Wife started swinging the pillow around that she succeeded in getting Robert.
I was thinking the same thing. It's only one ghost. Maybe Robert wasn't ready...
i'll never think of the name "Robert" the same way again.

God, I love this part. Keep up the great work!

The fact that roberts body count is 6 is concerning (not including the ghosts of Christmas)
top twenty moments in this 4 minute video that made me cry
2:02 jesus that figure running past made me jump my skin
Nobody talking how he troubled with the Christmas spirits of Future,Present and Past?
Like how old is he!?!
Robert didn't even know his name, he yelled "Neighbor Guy!"
I don't know the actual reason why the ending still has one ghost on the sign, but my personal theory is that no one believed that there was a ghost while Robert lived there, but he died in the house and people who are selling it realized it was haunted, but they don't realize that Robert's wife is also haunting it. They only know about one ghost, but it's actually haunted by both Robert and his wife.
I like this theory
