some zinc (and some pewter) ingots I poured crystalized and sunk in in the middle. I expect it to sink in a little but the crystalization made it sort of pourous. Am I pouring too hot? Cooling too fast?
@@highonadhd2003 not really, but i tried casting in graphite (insulator) and covering the casting to cool it slowly. crystalizing in the sunken part was still there but drastically reduced.
I thought so two. For two pours he poured away from himself. But I concluded if the foundry is 113 years old, maybe those workers had been there a while. I put my trust in them to know what they are doing, but observed the same as you did.
Thankyou that was so satisfying to watch and see the huge furnace that tilts and that !! Huge ingots..makes me feel like I have to make mine bigger ... Hahahahahah
Love the video clip etc, But I need a metal casting ingot mold made up ok - A custom made one for myself, so I can pour molten Lead into it ok to use it for weights etc - Can you Pls help me with this?? I already have the dimensions for the mold to pour the Lead in; just like or similar to the ones you have in this video ok, & I’m from Australia 🇦🇺 😕☹️🤦🏻♂️
There is no fumes in zinc I work for a foundary my self and we pore about 120 parts a day but in like them we actually clean our material take out all the dirty residue
It's not really a problem as long as the temperature is not too high. The problem with zinc-fumes is mainly when it's mixed up with other materials and heated enough to create vapour.
pounds? lol might as well say it was 17650 gazoobles, it would have had the same impact for me.
Is it necessary to use flux when melting zinc? Thanks!
Since he got it from the scrap yard how much did charge you over what they buy it at?

I’m extremely curious of an answer did you ever find out?

@@samboheena that’s helpful thank you :)
Cooling too fast, I had the same issue. Fire up that mold as hot as can be
@@JemSquash94 oh trust thanks man I’ll try
Love the video. Can you make fishing weights with zinc? And what is the melting temperature for zinc?
Around 785 degrees F.
@@jameswiz 419.5 celcius
I don't think I would stand over the ingots while pouring like in the first pour. If anything happens you are now covered in molten metal.
Agreed, he should start at the other end and move away from the ingots that have already been poured.
Thank you for your safety concerns

How do you make sure zinc pest does not set in ? Minor impurities are already enough to destroy the whole part.
I'm curious how you tell zinc from aluminum aside from weight.
I use a file, it will "skate" on zinc and dig into aluminum
Weight is the big one, but the Al will float on the molten zinc
Nice, you guys are into metals and progressive rock!
so awesome!!! Keep the videos coming!
Thanks for the support!
Hi. I am Bangladeshi. I do zinc business.
How do you know that the zinc anodes are pure zinc? I have heard that zinc anodes are alloyed with a bit of cadmium.
These zinc ingots can be use for galvanizing i mean plating on steel
Hi there Good job have good day.
See you next time.
What can I look for to find scrap zinc to do this?
I am zinc sulphate manufacturer,if I wanted zinc Ash Are supplied.?

How could you tell the difference from Alum to Zinc annodes?
Zinc is heavier

how come you dont just pour a bunch at once into a grid of moulds?
We were working out the system
I can't wait till you guys start pouring copper ingots that's my favorite thing
I love ingots too!
I am going to start making zinc sheet from special high grade zinc can you help me
What’s the value of zinc?

Just add some steel plates and you could sell anodes. Moose Scrapper Rocks !!!!
Good idea!
Hello, can you help me out? how did you did to remove all the impurities to get 99% zinc? any type of flux or something? thank you!
Not sure, we just melted down the scrap
We use Safzinco to remove impurities.
Sir please share melting point and dross persentage.
Ramesh Kumar safzinco?
Ramesh Kumar between 420 and 700 C to melting point
Zinc for future lead desilvering i suppose

Is it me .. or is this sexy stuff ..😁
Yeah!
You should consider respiration when working with zinc. The fumes can be bad for you.
Started wondering that myself. Think there's even a name for it like the zinc shakes or something.

Have any of you been in a galvanizing plant? The air is so thick I can't stand to go in there.
Thank you for your safety concerns
Tom the only one actually working
No Rick it's not just you this is way too sexy I'm with you on this one
