I'm not sure its a helpful comparison. It get people up in arms when the IDF are for example compared to the SS. Then the argument that ensues takes attention away from the the actual events and situation and results in cries of anti-semitism which can be used as a further distraction. For example with the students protests calling for peace, the accusation of anti-semitism becomes a talking point instead of the real issues that the students are working to address. So poor strategy to make comparisons. Israel as a possibly apartheid state with its abhorrent far-right governement should be described based on its own actions and words.

I'm not sure its a helpful comparison. It get people up in arms when the IDF are for example compared to the SS. Living in germany and learnt and read so much about "how could have it happened? so much intelligent people moved to Hitler and made a Genozid?" I learned that it could have happened in every nation.
