      @@KevinMCable Stacking mits is fine the smaller the percentage is. You can stack up to 30% "potential" mit (Like Reprisal + Rampart) and be totally fine. Arm's length isn't as powerful a mit as something like Rampart so it's completely okay. You lose like 1% or 2% mit and that's almost negligible. It only becomes really bad once you start stacking stuff like Guardian + Rampart or Shadow Wall + Oblation, etc. If your healer is out of Cooldowns, or is just plain bad, and you're taking too much damage, it is completely fine to stack mits like that up to 30%.
      If you know that you're about to take lethal damage, it's better to mit 28% for the next 10 seconds than to mit 10% and then die.

    While Casters may not get Arms Length, they do get Sleep which is an AOE unlike the healer's Repose spell. So if the tank goes down and you're a BLM, SMN, or RDM you can just use swiftcast and sleep the entire pull giving the healer plenty of time to res the tank.

    Diminishing returns: Do not use arms with reprisal. If a mob is already slowed, that means you get less benefit from reducing its attack dmg… bc it hits you fewer times. Instead, combine it with your short tank cd like holy shelltron etc.

    This is actually one of your more potent mitigations. Not quite as potent as your job-specific mits, but a 20% slow is essentially a 20% DR, making it as potent as rampart.
    Do note two things while using this, however:
    - Most if not all bosses are immune to slow, so don’t pop this in a boss fight except for when a knock back effect appears.
    - The slow effect only triggers if you’re struck physically during its small duration. Casts from enemies and (perhaps, not sure) other ranged attacks will not trigger the slow effect. Make sure you use this when you’ve already got a group of melee enemies surrounding you.

      True North allows you to bypass the requirements and do max damage with those skills regardless of your position.
      I realise your comment was 5 months ago though, and you probably already know this - but hey, better late than never.

      What's this? One of the strongest mitigation tools in my entire kit that doubles as knockback resistance?
      Who needs that shit?!

    what I sometimes do is sprint ahead of the tank on melee and arms length the pack before they take aggro

    I usually use sleep as a caster if it works on that certain enemy when tank dies.

      That works too. Or stun as melee. Or bind as range

    Do we know if the tank dies, can the slowga stack from several dps using it? Given that the enemy isn't immune to slowga

    • @celticlord88
      @celticlord88 ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesn't stack. It works like stun. It doesn't have an effect if enemy has debuff. And each use reduces the timer.

      @celticlord88 ปีที่แล้ว

      Same thing works if enemy uses slow on you. You can ignore it until you're immune.

    Me, a Floor Tank extraordinaire, getting pubbed with sprouts finishing Stormblood for the first time, and watching as the start wiping to Shinryu's first Tidal Wave after I told them "EITHER PAY ATTENTION OR USE ARMS LENGTH IMMEDIATELY": I guess someone will mental gymnastic their way into making this a Dragoon bad meme

    I thought Arm’s Length was a thing everyone used because it’s so good ad mitigating damage on big pulls…

      The stories my healers have told me. Apparently, tanks that use any damage mitigation at all are a dying breed.
      Then again, some of these same healers have gotten butthurt that I started using clemency to save myself on more than one occasion. Wait until those guys hear about equilibrium and bloodwhetting!

    Tank main here, If I’m in a dungeon pull I use arms length by itself usually, or maybe with the small mitigation each tank has. If I use it with rampart or another major mit I feel like you get less usage out of your stronger mits since it’s absorbing less hits and damage while the slow is active. Just a preference tho, might be more efficient for double or triple pulls

    Yeeees and as a tank main if an eager DPS runs past me to grab a pack, I'd appreciate if you at least popped Arm's Length to help me out :)

    For dungeons with ~1 min between pulls, starting off with rampart before arms lets you get another rampart as the second big cooldown next pull. Very helpful for the last stretch of zot where most tanks I've encountered use 1-2 big cooldowns on the first pull and only 1 on the second. It's also nice having that bigger flat damage reduction so that someone like a sage can use a couple rounds of autos to weave their healing rotation without spamming them all up front to prevent death and then having them run out too soon and making the rest of the pull harder. With just arms, you can end up dropping pretty low from one round of autos sometimes, let alone when you pop arms too late and it takes _two_ rounds for enemies to actually become slowed.
    If your first thought to this is that arms is more effective the more enemies you slow, so is rampart and every other mit.
