It’s one thing to know that Uchiyama was behind so many of the derp faces and poor animation in DBZ, but to know he was also a pushy supervisor and would correct great drawings to look worse is sad. If I was a mangaka I would try and say something coz thanks to him there a many golden moments that don’t hold up nowadays.
He's more known for his work on the Sonic CD Cutsecene Animations. When he heard that design of Sonic was called "Toei Sonic," he actually corrected the phrase in that since Studio Junio was the ones who design him, he's accurately should be called "Junio Sonic"
Fantastic job. I want to say when 23rd tournament was animated, all the studios did a great job, because it is one of the most consistent animated arcs in dragonball serie.
Such an ambitious video. Congrats. Certainly i appreciate how Aoshima single-handled animated good episodes with certain short-commings. And also underappreciated Mari Tominaga. It was an excelent memory lane
This is definitely your best video yet! I can’t imagine how long it took to sift through all the individual drawings for each studio, and researching the artists themselves, but the work definitely payed off. I really appreciate all the effort that went into this project
Well done work, your formatting was clear and easy to follow. I didn’t know too much about the dragon ball side of pre-production, so I really appreciate you catching me up in a video as good as this
Learned a lot of stuff in this video, such as a few of the deep cut animators like Tominaga, so you did an amazing job with this one. Speaking of Tominaga and her post-DB work, big kudos for showcasing a scene of best sailor scout Minako at 22:11 :3
Studio Junio definitely is my favorite studio for Dragon Ball because like you said animators were able to freely express their style and I think the unique appearance of episode is what dragon is really about when it comes to animation. You can even see this today where toei experiements with cgi in a major dragon ball movie. On a side note I really appreciated this new polish and professionalism you put into your videos and I hope your future videos are just like this.
Amazing video!! Love the in-depth analysis; not many ppl in the db community go as in-depth as you, greatly appreciated 👌🏽 And the production was really great, I remember watching your older videos back when, you’ve come a long way, can’t wait to see ur channel grow🫡🔥
Best video of you so far I love how you go into details of every studio who worked in Dragon Ball And also teaching us the definition of animation, timing, key animation etc. I hope you will also do for DBZ GT and Super. Out of all these my personal favourite studio would be Studio Junio Their animation is very iconic whenever I think of DBZ early episodes. And also they replicates some parts of the manga so accurate that it feels like the manga has come to life in anime. I hope we see something like this in Super. When the anime returns.
Thanks for this analysis! I dont have any idea of animation but i can identify a good work. When I saw the first fight between Goku and Ten Shin, 30 years ago, in the world tournament final, I was amazed.
This was a great entry and really shows your personal research in the behind the scenes and production. It also helps me as an artist to understand important aspects of drawing a character from different perspectives of different artists in the animation teams behind dragon ball. Other than that videos like this really help people also understand how any position in an animation industry is vital and hard with the pressure from the higher ups on the supervisors. And it's just fun to sit back and enjoy these videos with great background music and learn something different.
I love this video! Great research! It is cool that you found more by Aoshima outside Dragon Ball. She's so underrated and one of my favorites outside Junio's team. She boarded and animated while episodes and her character art and animation is insanely good. 2nd behind Junio's episodes in my opinion. Thank you for your hard work Forgotten!
No problem man and yeah I hope to look at some more of her work outside of DB. She solo animated a couple of episodes for Urusei Yatsura so I'm excited to get to them when I finally watch that show!
This is such a good, comprehensive and wonderfully crafted video. Through Anime Ajay and your videos I've learnt a great deal about the studios and animators beyond DB and I'll always be grateful for you taking the time and laying all this info and imagery out in a clear and insightful way. :D
Well that was comprehensive, informative and interesting. Time flew by while watching. Thanks to watching your channel for a while, when I saw someone commenting on some particular animation in an episode of DBZ, I was able to explain who did it and why it might have looked that way based on their particular style.
when watching the original Dragon Ball series in the newly remastered version, the animation really holds up! ofc its old school, but its still better in some cases against the newly digitally animated stuff we get now. not talking about DBZ here, that one still needs a re-done remastered version.
keep it up bro! i always share your yt ch whenever i see heated discussions in groups, pages, forums in regard to db animations. as always, I love your content.

Gonna get hate for this. Well, animation-wise, it's fine. Art style-wise, it is really jarring how each episode had a different art style because it was a different animation director or studio or both working on that particular episode. I wouldn't mind so much, except some art styles were better than others and the lesser quality style episodes, I felt, became irrelevant to me as the series was taking on a more serious tone as it went on. This is one thing I appreciate more with the more modern Anime and _Dragon Ball Super,_ because the art style(s) were more consistent throughout their run.
Ajay is fine What I like about Relics is that he go into detail about the animators and their animation skill. Even the person who has zero knowledge about animation would understand what he is talking.
Favorite Studio in DB for me. 1. Junio 2. Seigasha 3. Last House 4. Katsumi Aoshima 5. Studio Live 6. Shino Production I think Last House is personally my favorite just for the animators and their output being good for the most part but Junio does have the best looking episodes by far in the series.

The newest Studio I saw on the anime was Studio Masket.
