Just started watching your videos , people get so caught up in the new technology and forget that there were so many good clubs . Love the content , I’m rocking a big Bertha Hawkeye driver and old s57 ping irons still and refuse to change
Tour edge C721 bought off the shelf ex demo for £140 Panic Buy). My Callaway rogue imploded on the range whilst warming up for a golf day. This driver is never coming out the bag until it implodes. Got to be the most underrated driver on the market.
Ping has become the most overvalued brand in the secondhand market. It's wild how people have neglected some of the newer Cobra and Titleist offerings (SZ, LTDx, TS2/TS3) in favor of 8 year old Ping clubs, especially drivers and fairways, at roughly the same price. Getting crazy out there but I'm not too mad about it considering the deals you can get on the aforementioned brands. Ping is a great brand with a storied history and great resale value, but there's a limit to what people should be willing to shell out.
Agree - I love Ping since the latest 80 watching my dad and grandpa swing zings, eye 2a and ISI. I had been buying only used Pings for the last 10 years. Alas I have moved on - 1 year Taylormades can be found for less than G410s.
@@chadcochran5888that’s why you get better and practice. I could probably say that my drive has improved using pretty much only cobra drivers and woods but then again I love cobra woods they feel amazing to me.
I just bought the Ping G430max-10k for Aus$540 (in a conveluted way) = £270 - Bargain. First I bought a basically new Ping Chrome2 shaft for A$100, then bought a Ping G430LST head for A$440 - then found a guy who wanted to swap his G430max-10k head with an LST, all within a month. Basically the lastest driver at half the price. I'll the sell my old Ping g410 for A$350 (which I bought for A$400 3 years ago, after selling my G400max for $300 which I bought for $300). Now hitting longer & straighter - can't be happier. I did buy a G425max driver but couldn't stand the sound. It was like hitting a aluminium cricket bat. Did make $50 on it though. You never lose much when you up-grade with Ping.
I took your advice Simon I have a yanox driver £30 off eBay and love it. My mate got fitted for ping 430 and I am still out driving him older clubs for my lvl are the way forward
I’ve had the epic speed LS for a couple of years, £190 on eBay with an extra shaft. Sold my old beaten up XR and the shaft for £170 so essentially cost me £20 to upgrade. It’s amazing out the middle, effortless distance!
Still using the rahm epic speed 3D LS 8.5 head . I was able to snag three more heads . It doesn’t hold up for long but it’s just so automatic . It’s literally night and day . I’ve tried several newer heads but just can’t find the best of all worlds. After going on driver carousel since last summer I just sucked it up and bought some back ups and it’s like your favorite pair of jeans. Something to be said for seeing a ball go where you’re looking. Best part these “ tour issue” heads can still be had specked out for well under 150$ and even found new in plastic New old stock for 185$ shipped. I’d much rather have 4 epic speeds ls heads than 1 paradygm that’s going to crack before the summer is over anyways.
I still use a Cobra Speedzone (it helps I dont actually play THAT much so its not like its super worn or anything). I would kind of agree with "Cobra lost their way" because with F9 and SZ and even Radspeed they were all really good clubs at notably lower price than Ping, TM, Callaway, etc and personally I liked the the splash of bright colors. Then LTDx came out and it was all black and dark gold or something and was closer in price to the others, then Areojet and sure there was color but it was just kind of ok and I think they did away with the milled face and it was definitely close to top brands in price. Darkspeed is a silly name and I kinda like that and I can see why its all black even though thats still boring but again its like $550; I can get a new G430 for that or a G425 for 150 less.
Got one too 9* head only for £90, I put a 75 gram stiff shaft 44.5" tipped and it goes! 275 yards is always on the cards : ) I have a SIM2 ( a prize win so not being sold) is exactly the same distance, accuracy and feel but the Epic wins the sound prize that 110+ MPH "TTHHUUDD!"
I still have the epic flash SZ in the bag. Recently bought an aerojet LS, testing side by side and I'm thinking the Cally will be coming out on top! Before anyone complains about the sound, throw a little cotton into the head and it sounds absolutely amazing!! 🤤
Just a comment about modern drivers for your perusal- I used a Callaway Diablo Fusion Black driver for almost 10 years- best driver I ever had, loved it and very reliable thought I would play it forever. I played in a Pro Am, and the pro said I might get some marginal gains with a more modern driver, so I went and tried some- I have no brand allegiance- I ended up with a 10.5 degree Callaway Paradigm with a 50 gram stiff shaft ( 95 mph swing speed) which I have lofted to 12.5 degrees. So a year in- would I swap back to my Fusion- absolutely no chance- the more modern driver with this shaft combination) is so much more stable. The moral of the story is that while I doubt I am hitting it any further I am hitting it much straighter- more confidence - even better driving. The challenge we have as golfers with second hand clubs- drivers in particular is that while you can go and try 10 new drivers at American golf, it is not possible to try 10 second hand drivers anywhere easily ( I think golf bidder has a shop in Surrey you can go to to try clubs though). Maybe this is a business opportunity for someone.
Sorry you are right mate, but considering spin loft also includes clubpath, face angle, AOA and dynamic loft. Thought launch angle would have been an easier way to sum that all up. Even though not technically correct. Thanks pal. 🙌

The Ping G410 plus with the open holes in the back from the movable weight is just a terrible design! Very unlike Ping !!!! Engineering must have said ok, we gave you the G400 Max now what the hell are we supposed to do 🤔🤔🤔
I’m still rocking the 2016 m2
Great club. Why I went with M4 2021

Cobra drivers have a reputation of not being very forgiving.

Let's hope it stays that way, and we can continue having many used and new Titleist options at a bargain. 😁

Not a real comparison if you would out drive him with his driver as well.

I love my epic speed … but got mine from eBay for £120 spotless condition 9 degree

I loved that driver, too. I bought one new in wrapper for my daughter in 12° for a little more than $100, just under a year ago.
Just upgraded my m2 to an Aerojet this year spent a net £70 on it great result

Do you think that the cobra aerojet driver is better than the cobra ltd driver?
Using a 2013 Callaway RazrXtreme and smashing it about 280 avg carry
Cheers Simon another great video 🫡
Agree

Regards in being the fact check guy but spin loft is the dynamic loft - AOA not launch angle.
Keep up the informative content 👍

Love a good dwiver review 😂
Titleist 915D2. Still the best for me.
I have tried them all from Callaway, to Cobra, Mizuno, TaylorMade, Wilson and Ping.
Thought bryson was using the old ltd then?? Definitely around that time unless im wrong
I thought I heard Jason day is currently playing a G 410.
Still hitting great slices with my taylormade R11…
I bought a new G425 max last year for £300! Bargain!
Well you haven’t lost any money mate 😎
Whats your take on the new Macgregor v max?
