Speaking of water bills I have a coworker that believes he gets charged for any water he drains in his sink so anytime he changes the water in his tanks he pours them all outside to keep the water bill down. Lol
I used to have a few eels. Very intelligent and friendly. They would swim through fingers and eat from hand(loved chopped raw shrimp!) Often overlooked and underrated, eels are still awesome 🤘
Just came across eel pit guy on tiktok then found this vid! I don’t really have an interest in fish or anything but this was such a fun vid! Loved seeing you excited about all the creatures in his house!
thank you sir for spreading the word of how awesome eels are they are one of the most underappreciated animals and its sad their numbers are dwindling in the wild
So unique. Really cool. Thanks for sharing. I met a guy one time that said to me and my crew...." You gotta see this out back". We followed him around the house and he had 100+ finches and parakeets inside his screened in porch. It was beautiful !!
Pretty sweet! I would install a bunch of lights in that pit and plant a crapload of plants. Make it and underground tropical paradise. It would also cut down on the echo.
I grew up in a small town in QLD Australia, one of the few places to have a healthy population of Lung fish. Super protected, but every now and then they'll swim around you. Definitely a great experience, like swimming with dinosaurs 🙂🦕
The water filtration involved in maintaining these guys would seem insane. Like they must spend a lot of time and money with charcoal - but I’m not familiar with the way fresh water is is dealt with in the south. Seems like they have everything under control and all of the animals seem very healthy and happy. Cant ask for more than that.
That Caiman Lizard was awesome looking. I would of had to spend a lot of time to calm him down. Cause they are very good pets when tame. And the lung fish, flyriver turtle and eels are my favorite animals in there besides the big skink and Caiman lizard.
The tortoises seems to mostly have some pyramiding going on. With the Star s sometimes that seems inevitable in captivity no matter how precise the care is but the sulcata not so much
Ive never seen a caiman Lizard until now, I didnt even know they existed. That thing is beautiful! I hope he adds a red tail catfish to that pit it'd look awesome in there❤❤❤🙏
Honestly this is so cool I had of them in a 120 gallon tank before I had them for a while but unfortunately they got infections or something like that in their lungs and they ended up dying on me I've never tried ever again but it was really cool to see this video I haven't seen these guys for a long time maybe I'll get back into it if I can find some
My rose hair passed away at about 13 she was awesome super gentle. I don't believe you're a spider reard it looked like it was trying to catch its balance
This all has the potential to be so amazing, but I'm not going to lie I'm pretty disappointed in the quality of some of his tanks, especially considering that he's clearly interested in what he's doing and has invested a lot of resources into it. Im sure he has the best intentions, but dirty, empty tanks that only have one fish in it and still manage to be too small ain't it chief
I was going to say the same thing! His tanks offer zero enrichment for the animals. It’s no better than how they’re treated in most fish stores. He’s just collecting animals at this point. Really disappointing to see them kept this way. Every one of my animals enclosures mimics their natural environment as close as I can get in captivity. But I actually care about my animals not the views or getting on the news.
I thought the same thing it’s a fine line but he’s basically hoarding from my point of view if he actually cared for all the animals like he makes it seem he would def take the time to add some more stuff or re make some of those enclosures and tanks
Well, this *would* be a valid critique, if you had actually paid attention to his purpose for having tanks in the first place, which is to *temporarily* house fish till he can add them to the eel pit, or until he can sell them. They are not long term residential tanks, so while your surface level analysis would have been understandable from a place of concern for the animals, it is rather unnecessary because none of the fish live there permanently. as he states clearly in his TH-cam and TikTok videos.
You should put sand of something down there eel skin is very sensitive it it will hurt them rubbing up against the concrete and they need more hiding places
iwas the 69th like. cool video ! iam currently working on my own home in the sticks where ill build aquaponics and maybe an underground fish sanctuary aswell!
Feel like he should be giving some of those animals better housing or living situations that tarantula is just in a box all day with nothing for it to interact with or even burrow in that fish he showed off at first was just swimming no plants no rocks no nothing ?
Tarantulas don’t really need much. They’ll keep themselves active maintaining a burrow. It’s not like they’re birds or mammals, which benefit from enrichment, as long as basic needs are met the rest are aesthetic choices.
Not sure if you keep light on for a night day cycle. Doesn’t necessarily have to be a uvb for vit d absorption because they get it from food. But they do need it for their health. Keeping fish in the dark will lower their immune system, making them prone to diseases and generally weakening them. With insufficient light, fish like goldfish can loose their colors. Keep on 8 hours a day at least.
It's one of the coolest houses I've ever seen but I would hate to pay his water bill
its rainwater
True that
And if u own the house or depending on the lease it's all bills paid all u gotta do is pay monthly rent
It’s that electric bill that’s the killer!

Pretty sweet! I would install a bunch of lights in that pit and plant a crapload of plants. Make it and underground tropical paradise. It would also cut down on the echo.
That would be sweet I think he’s thinking about it!
He needs to take the fish to a vet . Apparently they’re all sick
Oh really I didn’t know that. That’s a shame

He’s got good filtration and there’s often new rainwater coming in, which does water changes frequently!
All houses should come with eel pits.
I agree!
That was awesome. The eel pit is so rad. I have one zig zag eel. I love that eel.

I agree. Especially the tarantula and reptiles need places to hide.
Having crystal clear tanks is for humans viewing pleasure. Good bacteria growth is a good thing
