After the untold amount of money that we, the collective "west," have expended in the last 75 years, specifically to be prepared for Soviet/Russian aggression, I fail to see why we still cower in fear. I think Biden’s objective is a negotiated armistice agreement between Russia and Uk, like the one that ended the Korean War in 1953. This will have to involve the front line being frozen in place and turned into a DMZ. Biden’s problem is, that he publicly committed in 2022 to a “No Ukraine without Ukraine” policy - meaning that Biden can’t approach Putin and negotiate a ceasefire over Zelensky’s head (which is what Putin wants to happen). So Biden wants the initiative for a ceasefire to come from Zelensky, not himself. But Biden doesn’t want to be accused of blackmailing or abandoning Zelensky - that would be a political disaster which would cost him the U.S. election.

I moved to live and work in Europe to be closer to my parents and visiting them once every 3-4 months. Mr. Hodges you're opinion is probably the feeling that most people have, tho we might not have access to certain intelligence driving decisions. I tend to agree with you all other things being equal I agree with your general assessment. I hope our politicians take note. I'm more worried about unpredictable behavior on the part of North Korea and Iran as opportunistic.
Neither smarts nor cajones can be so plentiful so as to make up for the utter lack of the other. POTUS had the former and lost the latter long ago, and is now operating close to the absence of both. He joins Sullivan in that distinction.
General Hodges is correct. Russia isn't going to use nuclear weapons. What is infuriating is how cowardly the USA is showing themselves to Russia. What happened to standing up to bullys? It gives other countries pause to come to the USA if USA ever need help.
