Which titles are you most excited about? For me it's probably Manor Lords and Sins of a Solar Empire Ii. The dilemma now is whether to play the hell out of the Early Access versions, or hang on for the full release...
Terra Invicta by the Xcom Long war guys already in early access, Falling Frontier because space and Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap which isn't an RTS but has the stategy keyword on Steam so it must count.
nice compilation. it was mildly amusing to me that nearly all of these were games i'd put in the steam wishlist and mostly forgotten because they haven't come out yet :D
I appreciate the variety of themes on display here. I do hope to see more and more people keep trying to innovate what the genre can do mechanically, though I wish more of it was focused rather than "it's x and y and z all at once!". Not to say I dislike genre-mashing, but I think there's some truly new ideas untapped that none of us have seen yet.
Love the content mate, feels wonderful hearing your voice again :) I havent put any serious time in a RTS title since the AoE2 remaster but this video got me a bit excited! Wish you the best as usual /Groggus
14:07 Yeah, Stormgate's only Early Access but they've burned through nearly all of the $41M they raised and are spending more than $1M per month. They made it clear they need to launch into EA now so they could earn enough revenue to make it to a 1.0 release. They also said they expected to get half of Wings of Liberty's numbers but are barely averaging 500-700 concurrents right now on steam. The situation looks dire.
Damn, didn't know it was quite so acute. I did see bits of newsflow such as the devs paying themselves rather outside salaries and the like. If it turns out to be a big money burning flop then it's a real blow for competitive RTS I think, and piles more weight of expectation on ZeroSpace (unfairly)...
@@Ianbus123 I'm not so worried about their salaries. Or at least I wouldn't be if they were on track to deliver what they promised and weren't burning $1M+ per month with practically no revenue. But I agree, if this studio flops, and it looks like it will, it's likely going to make it more difficult for future RTS games to get funded, at least with venture capital.
@Ianbus123 of course I don't ever expect RTS to return to being a dominant genre like it was in 90s & early 2000s. But it'd be nice to see more frequent release of new low to medium budget RTSes in future. So RTS gamers have a bit more range than just playing old classics such as Starcraft 2 & C&C etc. Sadly RTS genre is too niche for major publisher to spend AAA budgets on it like they used to when RTS was dominant genre.
starcraft 2 cinematics are beyond this world, they need to heavily focus on starting a tv series based on starcraft univers with the same graphics they used to make the cinematics
The cinematic team is the last good part of Blizzard standing I think :( I like to use that Heart of the Swarm cinematic whenever I can, it's so amazing.
I honestly hope Industrial annihilation fails completely and flops, they made a kickstarter a few years back for Planetary Annihilation which basically launched unreleased and with nothing of what they promised only for them to shut it down and create PA Titans which forced you to buy the game again which is stuff that was promised in the original kickstarter. Massive scam
I featured PA and Industrial a bit in a previous video and people seemed to be divided. A lot thought that the people behind IA are the "good guys" who patched and maintained PA for free but others have a bad taste relating to kickstars etc. like you say. I couldn't really get to the bottom of the story.
I know people are playing it right now with the premium purchase (I hate this new trend) but I'm holding on for the normal release next week. So far it seems to be a well received update of a beloved classic but not really taking any risks. Are you playing it?

any info regarding Dust Front ?
Sins 2 is so much fun
Nice seeing you mention Gates of Pyre; its the only one I have tried out, and for a SC fan, I loved it.

ZeroSpace will do better than Stormgate I think, looks much more fun.
Beyond All Reason is available now and is awesome. If you like RTS you will love this game.
I made a couple of videos dedicated to BAR and to the sub-genre games like it and TA/SupComm are in. I liked the recent BAR trailer video!

Hello my favorute FRUIT (sorry Thermiel)
Silica looks nice and I’ll love to try it out. I recently tried Gates of Pyre and enjoyed it so it’d be nice adding this also

Zerospace, Tempest Rising, Immortal Gates of Pyre & AOM: retold will help revive RTS genre
I doubt it. The rts genre will have a more diverse playerbase but it still isn't attracting new players
I don't know how far it can go but things are definitely trending the right way. Homeworld 3 and Stormgate have been setbacks though ;(

Immortal Gates of Pyre will do very well. Its public playtest is already looking so much fun.

I hope godsworn has more farming and building options
Great vid!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.
Great video. Perhaps you could cover Immortal Gates of Pyre during the next testplay...
You gotta have Beyond All Reason in here
I featured it quite a bit in previous videos - take a look!
If we get news about it launching on Steam it will be time for a new BAR vid
Good overview.
Sanctuary is my jam.
RTS games without strategic zoom are obsolete.
Hey - thank you! I liked your latest video on grand strategy games.
Sins of a Solar Empire 2 is not a n EA launch bro...its the full releases.
Oh really? I must have been confused by the introductory offer thing. Thanks! Will go piling in to it asap
Rise & fall of SC2 esports scene docuseries when??
Have they figured out better ai and pathing yet? Then rts will remain where it is.
Some do it better than others... Ratten Reich is suffering badly because of sub-par pathing currently for example
Real men plays WARNO
no RTS game is gonna make me so happy but a CnC red alert 2 remaster 😕

Interesting. Looks like Frost Giant is following in their footsteps with Stormgate.

Empire of the ants PS5 ?
What are your thoughts on Age of Mythology: Retold?
I know people are playing it right now with the premium purchase (I hate this new trend) but I'm holding on for the normal release next week.
So far it seems to be a well received update of a beloved classic but not really taking any risks. Are you playing it?
@@Ianbus123 Absolutely. Age of empires, age of mythology, command and conquer, etc. were my childhood. I'm trying it out today!
