Can you explain the power reserve complication in depth? I don't understand why there is 2 rotating discs. Shouldn't the inner disc stay stationary and the outer disc rotate to indicate power reserve? Or shouldn't the outer disc stay stationary and the inner disc move? I don't understand why need both rotate... This has been bugging me and no website or video actually explains how/why the power reserve works like this.
Excellent review of a very handsome watch. The specs suggest it is slightly on the thick side but I am interested to see it in the flesh so to speak. Longines have been doing so well of recent years. I recently picked up the Spirit Zulu Time and I love it.
Thanks very much for this review. I do like the look of this watch and I have been thinking about acquiring a Longines for some time. I agree about date windows. They're not necessary, I never adjust them for the correct date and I think that one spoils the simplicity of a watch face. However, placed where it is on this watch looks good, I think, and much better than at 3 o'clock. It really is a handsome watch, especially in this champagne colour.
Great review Nikolaus! I have the Champagne dial on the way as we speak.....the 38mm plus a usable complication and see through case back won me over. I would like to see it with a tan strap as you say......?? A beautiful watch with a hint of class and old school style. Should have it in a few days hopefully 🙂 Cheers Gregg.
I think the date is one of the features I use the most on my watch.. I am pretty sure I check that more than the time lol. Ah what day is today? I check it. Ah what time is it? I can cehck that on my phone. lol
That’s an interesting point. Never thought about that but you are right. I catch myself looking at the date more often too compared to checking the time. However I still prefer non date watches for aesthetic reasons.
Wunderschön. Danke fürs Zeigen! Longines bot früher preislich erreichbare Schweizer Uhren.
I completely agree that Longines hasn't been "super interesting" for a very long time - many decades, I would even say - and that's putting it nicely. More to the point: Somehow, Longines got downright boring. This has always bothered me because I have my father's 1960 Conquest, which I had meticulously restored by Longines, and it is gorgeous! Now, FINALLY, there is a new Longines watch I want to buy, and it's this one. I think I'll sell my Rolex and perhaps buy both the champagne and black versions. Thank you for your excellent review!
One of my first watch brands that statred me off back in early 89s, I love Longines I currently own several. Longines doesn't produce millions of watches annually only Rolex produce over one million that's why Rolex takes up 26% of market sales leaving the rest to all other brands. Girard Perragaux for example only produces 10K watches annually less than AP, PP and VC.
Young people going "I never thought of thing x"....and then 30 seconds later saying "Well, it turns out that they're a big deal". Practically a summary of growing up.
@@NikolausHirsch well compared to similarly specced Longines watches (silicium escapement) like the new 39mm legend diver or compared to the spirit Zulu time, which also has a complication, ceramics and a more interesting case, it is significantly more expensive. The case is not that great, it's thick and boring and the power reserve indicator looks like a modification of the day disc so nothing too special, leading me to believe the only reason for this price is the fact that it's an anniversary edition, and greed. I fully expected it to be around 2700 Euro and my jaw dropped upon hearing the price. And 2700 list with the expectation to get it at 2300-2500
Wow. Normally, I'm not drawn to Longines watches, but here they knocked it out of the park. Beautiful!
Keen to know as to why Longines watches don't impress you
They really did a great job with this piece
Spectacular!! Longines is killing it lately.
👏👏👏
I have to admit. Longines are stellar pieces but this one is simply gorgeous. Elegant.
Thanks! This is a great watch
I visited their HQ and museum last month. Amazing history and a very underappreciated brand with so many compelling pieces their catalog.
Thats amazing. Haven't been there yet but can't wait to check it out too.
Danke für die Super Review. Klarer Kandidat für meine Sammlung - dressy, einzigartig und historisch.
Danke dir! Das freut mich.
The date window is also present in the original. Aside of the case, this watch is pretty faithful to the watch they produce back in 1960s.
Thats very true! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Thanks for sharing your feedback. I'm way worse with calendar watches 😂 or moonphase never set them. Glad you like this piece.
@@IDKline That's right.
I have 4 GS n no Longines but they knocked it out of the park with this n grabbed my attention big time
Happy you liked it!
10/10 Watch, I will buy it and change the strap to a dark brown croc.
Great choice 👏

Buen contenido saludos desde Argentina. Amo Longinos tengo varios.
Thank you very much 🙌 muchas gracias
A date is a must have on any watch along with water resistant
Well said.

Perfect minimal dress watch

hi, some advice: if you want to create a video to review a watch, please don't make 99% of the video about your face.
Thank you. Did you watch the video? I understand the intro was a bit long but isn’t there more than enough footage of the watch in it?
Bruh. The video wasn't 99% of his face. Watch it again. I know he showed his face quite a lot in the video, but it was more like 65-70% of the video.
Was waiting the whole video for you to wind it up to see how the power reserve moves?
I'm sorry, looking back you are right I should've. Will do better in the future.
appreciate the reply, no need to apologise, you're doing a great job so far!@@NikolausHirsch
@@akwaf thanks a lot 👍
Never put the 2 and 2 together that you’re the guy from Hirsch straps! Nice.
😁🙌 that’s me

Would be much better/suited to a thinner manual wind movement.
A nice watch..but prices are going crazy..
price??😢
Google?

😅
The date should be at the edge and not in the center of the dial.
can't take someone seriously when they say they don't pay attention to Longines. Moved on to a different review.
that's fine ✌🏻
Fantastic looking watch. Greatly overpriced.
They're really inflating their prices lately. Going into Omega territory.
Is that so?
I'm sorry but I would contest that Longines is a luxury watch maker. Nice watch maker yes, but luxury? No. They are mass produced by robots.
Nice, but overpriced
Why do you think that?
