The screw attack is actually ridiculous! That is so much damage! I love the metroid prime speedruns but it just always blows my mind at how these games are executed so well! Cannot wait to see Metroid Dread at a future GDQ :D
Brilliant run, Miguel! Also, apologies for subjecting you to that second donation. For whatever it's worth, it hurt me almost as much to write it up and send it to you as it hurt you when you heard it. almost.
Just catching this now. This run had amazing commentary with even better gameplay by MrMiguel. Now I want to stop my Intergrade and RE kick and go back to the Prime Trilogy on Wii U.
Love speed runs and seeing the game but I wish the runners would stop calling the games "broken." Is like taking a hammer to a plate and calling it broken; just because you can break something, it doesn't mean it is broken. Getting something as impressive as the Metroid Prime games on the Gamecube was an incredible accomplishment and should be celebrated, not labelled as broken because a complex set of actions can get past a normal.
Lots of people have nostalgia goggles for Prime 1, but a lot of new Metroid players in recent years think Prime 2 is better. Back when Prime 2 first came out, it was shit on CONSTANTLY as being worse than Prime 1.
There are enough people who think poorly of it, with ammo management being a major concern. Fusion is also not well liked, thanks to its linearity and odd movement. I disagree with the Prime 2 haters, but Fusion is my least favourite Metroid game of the ones I've played.
As all the other folks stated here, many people at the time thought Prime 2 was inferior in every way compared to Prime HOWEVER, what got it more underrated imo is due to the 2 BIG games that came out in 2004, between and after Prime 2’s release Halo 2 was fucking brutal when it came out, almost everyone played it to death as far as I heard and it dominated the gaming scope of FPS games + multiplayer games And Half Life 2? Well, we all know the history but it was just monstrous the moment it released It literally changed everything we’ve come to know about video games, it’s engines and sense of immersion and purpose What’s worse though is that it came a DAY after Prime 2’s release so ideally, no one bothered to care about it I honestly kind of feel bad that it didn’t get the reception Sure it didn’t break the mold on gaming or made a huge impact on the industry but it’s still really fun and a damn good game

For those of you who are wondering, the final In-Game Time of this run was 54 minutes
I want to like this but it has 54 likes.
Which version of the game are you running ?
Original North American release
In hindsight I should have added more reverb to that O-Lir copypasta
"I'm gonna have to commit a Metroid Crime" got me. Wonderful.
1:03 "Prime 2's so good..."
"... Yes..."

_Always love the Prime games speedruns, and shoutout to the commentators for the explanations I always love hearing them_
“Can I make a weird tangent about hot dogs?”
“No.”
That run was amazing, good job Miguel.
Samus shall forever be called Lamp Repair Technician.

Hear the words of O-Lir, last Sentinel of the Forest [sic] Temple. May they serve you well.

Sorry for being late btw
That pain face though, pure gold.
Such a great game and such a great run! It’s cool to see how far this game has come from previous GDQ’s.
My text notification is straight from this game. Kept thinking I was getting messages constantly. Need to get this for my GameCube
Just catching this now. This run had amazing commentary with even better gameplay by MrMiguel. Now I want to stop my Intergrade and RE kick and go back to the Prime Trilogy on Wii U.
1:00:44 That my good sir, the finest joke to ever come out of a GDQ.
Great job on the run!
Wow lol I was so frustrated against Emperor Ing casually. Wild to see him go down so easily.
The EI3 Screw Attack only works on the Gamecube version by the way, don't try it on Trilogy because it won't work
Awesome run by a great person!
Prime 2 is sort of the forgotten middle child of the prime trilogy
It’s the best one ngl
Fabulous run!
Hoping for next year to be back in person gdq I miss the per covid days
ok we’ve got to explain something here
hotdogs
yea hotdogs
Oh hey, it's my favorite game of all time.
i think i like quadraxis' theme best in prime 2, though emperor ing b is close
Great job!
Omg it mr miguel!!! The man of Culture has your back and support!!
i love this game so much :D
MY CHILDHOOD! \o/
Good stuff.

Half the time they need to add: "We play on this version because they keep fixing things in later versions!!"
Wait, is Prime 2 actually underrated??? It's literally my favorite Metroid game (with fusion being very close second)
This game kicked my butt! I found Normal mode about as difficult as MP1 Hard mode. Had to use a guide for the final boss.
