My journey is quite similar to yours, almost identical in fact. I was a Gujarati-medium student until the 12th grade and English used to be a nightmare for me especially until the 10th standard. However, one thing that kept me going was my genuine interest in learning the language. If you truly want to master English that interest must never fade. During my 11th and 12th grades, prepared for JEE, got exposed to books like Verma and Tandon. These resources inadvertently made the process a bit simpler for me. also started listening to English pop and watched my first fully English movie, The Man Who Knew Infinity. The real transformation happened during my graduation years. That period was when I peaked my English skills to its best, watched almost all the top rated IMDB movies and shows, anime was my love and read impressive number of books. Twitter became a daily platform for me to practiceand also wrote blogs on Quora. Another significant factor was my peer circle, I made it a point to interact with them in English. Cricket commentary played a helpful role and I must say, the most effective method was speaking to myself. It’s truly the best and most efficient way to improve your spoken English. realized that English ain't that hard as people make it out to be. The key is to stay genuinely interested in the learning process. I made lotta vlogs uploaded some here also I love doing accents. 😂 Looking back, I can confidently say, "Time you enjoy wasting was not wasted." This has been especially true for me in the context of learning English.
I have also been learning to speak English for a long time. I got the inspiration to speak English from my younger sister❤. Today I speak English very well. And I have also studied in Gujarati medium.😊 Whenever I speak in English, I feel confident, but yes, sometimes I also feel scared.😅
You never stop learning in life even when you don't want to and the curse of time is learning something you never intended to experience in the first place. Time isn't priceless it comes at a cost that is you yourself.
I'm from a typical village frm Gir & my entire education was in Gujarati medium frm my village school only. Aftr 8th std came to kwn what is spelling meanwhile eng subjct hd been already introduced since std 5th. Std 8 to 12 I could only read in eng text book but didn't khw what was written🤔. Aftr joining armed forces in 2011, & got some gr8 exposure to the world & I actually improved quite in Eng language. My initial posting was Chennai and one day i was traveling frm Ahmedbd to chennai by train, i met a tamil student who was studying diploma in vallabh vidya nagr in 2013.and He said gujrati students didn't have knowledge of Eng language, how could they pass Eng subject exam? Avi halat se gujrationa english ni. In this video madam said right to grasp any Language just read, listen, write, speak and repeat
You're right, We never get the right environment to learn English in Village. In school, the approach is very unnatural that doesn't make sense to our brain. However, I’m glad the internet revolution is changing this and providing better opportunities. 😀

Tips for economic because I came from science background I have no idea how to start
Sanjiv Verma's book is the best for core concepts and then switching to Ncert and then to PYQS.
