To be completely fair... If any of you have been a performing musician at all, you should be all too familiar with the occasional disaster that happens when timing tears between band mates. One person could be slightly ahead in the song, someone else could be behind, and the whole song just turns into one of those "Duality but it's a complete shitshow" meme... but in real life. When the fans keep starting to sing a song before the band does, this can happen very easily and it can just make the entire performance a disaster. That being said, he handled it very poorly. The fans are just trying to have a good time... But my point is, is that he did have a valid point of view.
I was actually at that Foo Fighters concert where Dave broke his leg. It was the weirdest experience ever because we all just stood there wondering if it was some sort of weird joke. After about 3 songs and the rest of the band constantly apologizing it became clear it was real. Then after maybe about 30-45mins he comes back on stage with a cast around his leg and was sat down on a chair by some medics. High on morphine, with a guitar in his lap and a bootle of champagne in his hand he finished the show, they even played My Hero for the main medical examiner that sat with him on stage and made sure his cast didn’t break. It’s one of the most memorable concert experiences of my life and I don’t think I’ll ever really forget it.
There's a video where Dave is on a swedish talk show and they have a surprise reunion with that doctor that held his leg and Dave's reaction is the absolute best thing.

Considering why that happened, I agree. He was having neck issues, told the crowd to not touch him on stage, and the guy who kicked him did just that. He came on stage and grabbed him around the neck. Not forcibly, but hard enough to cause pain. I would have done exactly what Fat Mike did, and probably would have let him kick me, too.

There's one recorded instance of this in which he not only stops the song, but cuts the entire gig short and leaves with his band because people were cheering while he was playing. The Philippines has released an actual movie called "Moron 5" back in 2011. The movie was really shit though apparently, even if it was kinda funny. Trust me it is extremely distracting, especially if you're on a massive stage show where you're dealing with in ear monitoring, it can throw you off and if you're thrown off for even half a second and miss your cue, it throws everyone off including sound crew, lighting crew the rest of the band, it flows down the chain. Having said that, Maroon 5 like any other professional band, should be able to deal with that situation without being an asshole about it

Dave came back onstage after they quickly set his leg in a makeshift cast and finished the show with a medic holding it in place ! Theres a really great interview where they bring the tech in to reunite with Dave and Taylor, It's super sweet.
I've seen that clip! When Dave realized who was there his face lit up like a five year old's on Christmas morning. He was so happy to be able to see this medical professional again and thank him for his help. Taylor is just sitting there smiling and looking like a 70's porn star!
The ending with Tommy Lee was brutal. As someone with arthritis in both hands and plays guitar, that's the main thing that has stopped me from playing in a band. That chance that that day may not be a great day for how my hands function would be nerve wracking to think about. Glad the crowd was so cool and understanding.

He had to quit multiple shows in a short amount of time because of his (at the time, un-diagnosed) cancer. He blamed it on altitude sickness while in Colorado, but then had to quit in another state a few days later that was closer to water level. 2 weeks later, he was dead.

Now we need a list of bands that do thank yous on stage. The last show I saw was last year December 2nd in Cleveland, Ohio at the House of Blues. The headlining act was As I Lay Dying (with Emmure and After the Burial). Tim Lambesis of AILD thanked the crowd many times for giving him another chance after his troubles he had. He has given back and continues to give back, as well as the entire band.
My favorite thank you was seeing Steely Dan shortly before Becker passed away. He did (as he did at most shows on that tour) a very touching spoken word "solo" during Hey Nineteen and basically just thanked everyone for digging the music that they'd put out and performed for the last few decades. Was very heartfelt underneath a thick-ass layer of weird jokes and stories.
Pretty sure he said he 'owes' that kid an apology. Not an actual apology but I'm sure he's been over this too many times to keep running one out. Let Henry meet the dude and we can all sleep :')

Dave came back onstage after they quickly set his leg in a makeshift cast and finished the show with a medic holding it in place ! Theres a really great interview where they bring the tech in to reunite with Dave and Taylor, It's super sweet.
I've seen that clip! When Dave realized who was there his face lit up like a five year old's on Christmas morning. He was so happy to be able to see this medical professional again and thank him for his help. Taylor is just sitting there smiling and looking like a 70's porn star!
The ending with Tommy Lee was brutal. As someone with arthritis in both hands and plays guitar, that's the main thing that has stopped me from playing in a band. That chance that that day may not be a great day for how my hands function would be nerve wracking to think about. Glad the crowd was so cool and understanding.

He had to quit multiple shows in a short amount of time because of his (at the time, un-diagnosed) cancer. He blamed it on altitude sickness while in Colorado, but then had to quit in another state a few days later that was closer to water level. 2 weeks later, he was dead.

Now we need a list of bands that do thank yous on stage. The last show I saw was last year December 2nd in Cleveland, Ohio at the House of Blues. The headlining act was As I Lay Dying (with Emmure and After the Burial). Tim Lambesis of AILD thanked the crowd many times for giving him another chance after his troubles he had. He has given back and continues to give back, as well as the entire band.
My favorite thank you was seeing Steely Dan shortly before Becker passed away. He did (as he did at most shows on that tour) a very touching spoken word "solo" during Hey Nineteen and basically just thanked everyone for digging the music that they'd put out and performed for the last few decades. Was very heartfelt underneath a thick-ass layer of weird jokes and stories.
