Merson, Barnes, Rocastle and Platt were quality players.
Barnes got injured just before the Euro ‘92 tournament.
Not picking Waddle and Beardsley was inexplicable though.

I never realised Mark Hateley played for England in the 90s. In fact, after Euro 88.

True, me also - guess maybe a random based on form at Rangers at the time? (Assume he'd be there)

England were lucky to qualify for Sweden (thanks to Ireland drawing 3-3 with Poland after England were 13 minutes away from potentially not qualifying on goal difference with the Irish leading 3-1 away to Poland with England playing later in the evening at home having to beat Turkey 6-0 to overtake Ireland the Irish having scored more goals) if England had not qualified Taylor would have been sacked or left by mutual agreement and Lawrie McMemeny would have been kept on as a caretaker manager just for the 1992 friendlies against France at Wembley Czechoslovakia in Prague, CIS in Tbilisi, Brazil at Wembley, Finland in Helsinki and a new manager brought in for the World Cup Qualifying campaign most likely Howard Wilkinson or Terry Venables though the FA would have had to pay Leeds or Tottenham a hefty compensation fee

Rocastle was quality, he should have got more caps.
Can’t believe he didn’t make the squad, this was the season he scored the wonder goal at Old Trafford.
Also GT didn’t give Ince his debut until later in ‘92 - he should have already been a squad regular at this point.
Instead England had Neil Webb and Tony Daley at Euro’92.
Michael Thomas should have been picked as well imo, scored a great goal in the FA Cup final.
Ian Wright also didn’t make the squad, but Alan Smith, who did, scored a lot of goals for Arsenal in the early 90’s.

Where is everyone. A lot of empty seats in the ground.
