Love that "pretend there's a boss watching you" time management trick! Keep these business tips coming! New sub from practical machinist channel, and no regrets so far

Great topic and I wish I wish I had this advise years ago as it would have saved me lots of time wasted with salesman. I currently manage a shop and have a boss that doesn't micro manage, which is which is great except I often find myself distracted and not working productivity where I need to start work as if he was watching over me and I will be alot more satisfied with what I get done in day. Thanks for sharing

My rule now is if someone wants a favor kind of job I say get me a print and a model and I'll make it, when they inevitably tell me they don't kniw how i direct them to fusion 360 and titans of cnc. I don't mind doing little home jobs or peoples nick nacks if they're interesting and they actually make an effort. Never repairs, but making some small jobs is enjoyable if they're appreciative. It's the ones who ask favors, ask you to make them xyz, Don't realize it's days worth if work and can't even be bothered putting in an effort.

Generally most asking for favours don,t know how long something should take to do.
It always takes way longer than you want it to.
I remember years ago a good friend owned an Automotive Exhaust business.
He had a customer that either gave him a lot of work or sent him a lot of work.
      Anyway.
He was asked by this customer to fit a Tow Bar to a Volkswagen Beetle.
He did not ask why just did the job for him.
It finished up take all of his Saturday afternoon to fit this Tow Bar.
I remember him complaining about it later.
      Saying,
Who fits a Tow Bar to a ...... Volks Wagon Beetle.
The things you do to help people out, LOL.
I am not big on doing favours for anyone for a long time now.
It always seems to much trouble to have a have small percentage of the favour paid back again.

Thanks enjoyed the video , however you must be open to potentially making money on what the sales man offers or could offer , to that end it is essential to make an assessment that is accurate. Thanks Dwayne NZ.

Salespeople are good if they have something that you actually want to buy.
A Good salesperson has learnt to get there point across asap.
Generally business owners are ready to say NO before they say YES.
I have tooling salesmen that visits me from time to time.
He talks fast and gets me what i need and leaves asap.
This is what we need from a salesperson.
There is some truth in what you say, about missing out on an opportunity of what a salesperson may have to offer,
But to many times it,s salespeople trying to sell you a different shade of green.
      Meaning ?
They want you to buy there brand ?
NOT because it,s better, but because they sell it ????
This is a painful position to be in ?
Because now you find yourself consuming time comparing the different shades of green, LOL
