I'm glad you stay strapped. 😊 Your point about a person being more scary than a 🐻 is correct!!
Loved the trail cam pics. I almost didn't see the bobcat. They are quite camouflaged!
Neighbor Matt was cute. Thanks to him for his interview. 😊
We get an occasional bear here in the city, down in the Piedmont, NC and people go nuts. Poor things are just being run out of their habits due to development.
Thanks for all the bear information. 🐻 You did a great job putting it together.
    Continued prayers for everyone. ❤

Great video! I feel safe in the woods....it's being in public (like malls or grocery stores) that makes me very nervous. I'm in the woods almost every day and I carry protection. I'm not so concerned w/ the wildlife but rather the human w/ ill intent.

I LOVE this video! Thankyou Katie! I was a hunter and fished a lot too. I'm a 68 year old woman. I've seen plenty of bear in my lifetime. You are so right about being armed and not need it than not armed and be in a dangerous situation. I would most definitely be more wary of dangerous people than animals.

I'm glad you go to the woods "packing". Another human is what I am scared of as well. I pack and feel better as you said, fishing a creek where you can't hear etc. Great video Katie!
    Prayers for Granny continue.

I live over in Scaly Mountain & I don’t feed the bears, but I have had bears on my porch 3 times. I do not put my trash outside either. Each time they just very leisurely walked across my porch. One time was during a bad snowstorm at night in January. That was amazing to see. I have motion detector lights & that’s how I saw him. 😊❤😊🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Where I live in South GA, I have an alligator in my back property, and I have multiple deer, and bunnies as big as my Jack Russell. Hence forth, I have NO garden. There is a lot of wild boar, and numerous dangerous snakes. I live at a fox pen/coyote reserve, and they do get out, and show up in my yard all the time. I fenced in for puppers, and I most fear humans. I stay well protected. Stay alert of your surroundings, and listen closely🐾🦊🐺

My buddy has a mountain cabin in Gerton, NC, which is between Asheville and Chimney Rock. One night after riding motorcycles during the day, a bear flipped my motorcycle over its side stand attempting to get into my top trunk. I had forgotten to remove some trail mix I had in it. The bear bit the lid on my top trunk and left paw prints all over it. The motorcycle was damaged to the point that it couldn't be ridden until I went and bought parts from the Triumph dealer in Asheville and fixed it. I had my .357 magnum with me on that trip and spent most of the next night awake waiting for that bear to come back for more. It never returned, but we have seen one or two on people's porches and have found scat around my buddy's cabin. I live in the woods in a suburb of Columbia, SC (Springdale) and see coyotes that are fairly large at times along with deer, foxes, possums, raccoons, snakes, hawks, owls, and one animal I caught on a trail cam that I couldn't determine the identity of but looked like a small bear. I was in Myrtle Beach one Thanksgiving and had a bear run across hwy 17 near what was then the Dixie Stampede. Bears are everywhere. Katey, you are my kind of girl carrying a gun like you do. God bless and take care of yourself and that baby!

Thank you Katie for taking me down memory lane with this video and showing bears! My husband and I loved bears and every year for over 20 years, during 'spawning' season here on the coast of British Columbia, we would head to a particular river for a couple of weeks, just to camp on the river bank and watch BEARS! Black bears. They got used to us and got to know we were no threat to them and would regularly walk within a few feet of us a we sat there in our camping chairs, and we never once felt threatened by them. Even mama with her cubs would wander about fishing and showing her babies how to fish. It got so we could recognize particular bears by some of their colors marking, and behaviors, even how they walked, length of legs etc. Each year would see the same bears - we even named some of them. ha ha We would also see 'first year on their own' cubs who were a bit more timid and unsure of us at first. NOW to clarify: we never fed them or did anything that would make them a 'problem bear.' And how they reacted to other vehicles spoke loudly, as the bears would scurry into the woods and stay hidden until the 'strangers' left again and it was just us there before they would come out again so it seemed they too got to recognize us. I sure do miss those times with 'our' bears. I have a pile of photo's and camera videos of them. So this was a special video. Thank you!

We used to help pick cotton on my Grandma’s farm. We often encountered copperhead snakes in the fields. We learned to carry a hoe in case they came after us, otherwise we left it alone. They also had raccoons, deer, rabbits, hawks, possums, and anything else you can think of that would just walk up in the yard.

Thank you, Katie! It was fun to hear the stories. I am 33, and I grew up in the mountains of Colorado. In all of the years I have spent in the woods here I have seen lots of bear tracks and scat, but only two bears, one up in the mountains, and one down in the desert. There is a funny story about the one in the mountains. I was up there one day with a friend who is a photographer, and when we spotted the bear it saw us at the same time and ran off into the woods. Well he got so excited to take a picture of it that he ran off after it... and completely forgot to grab his gun... luckily he was fine, but I will still give him a hard time about that now and then 😆
I am glad that you all take precautions when you go out into the woods! Thank you for the fun video, and God bless you and your family 🙏

Katie, thank you for sharing these bear stories. I have had plenty of encounters with deer, and and one wolf while out hunting elk with my dad. I too never saw Bigfoot, but I learned of the legend of Bigfoot. My dad used to take me along as a little kid to help him out building houses in some remote areas of Washington state. He would always kid me when I went out into the woods. He would say ,Leonard watch out for the Sasquatch when you’re out there in the Woods! If the Sasquatch comes up on you just kick him in the shins and they will run away. I think I believed that story for a couple years then I realize no there’s no such thing he’s just kidding me, thanks for sharing

I appreciated your dad pointing out wildlife is more afraid of us than we are of them. They don’t want an encounter. The last bear I saw here in WV was a cub who was hauling it across a creek into the woods. I figured it was in trouble with its mama. I was lucky enough to see a bobcat when my husband and I were camping. What a sight!

We've have bears, coyotes, deer, skunks, cougars, and bobcats in my neighbourhood. We see bears quite frequently. They love to get into compost, water lillies, crocus bulbs and the neighbourhood chickens. We aren't able to shoot at wildlife in BC, so we carry bear spray and try to be loud outside. Thanks, Katie. ❤

I live in the mountains of East Tennessee and have seen bear, elk, coyotes in my backyard. Your Dad is right there more afraid of us than we are of them. I wish people that come to our area would stop feeding them it only hurts the bears because when you feed them there not afraid anymore and when they fill threaten they will attack humans and then they usually have to be euthanized. People need to realize we are in there territory😊

I love hearing these stories! I spent most of my spare time hiking and fishing in the woods. Like your friend Matt says, I was more afraid of snakes and those huge fishing spiders than bears too!😁 I’m sure you heard of the young bear in the Park that because people were feeding and trying to hold(!) caused Rangers to close a stretch of parkway. I think it’s so sad people have gotten away from the land and outdoors that they put themselves and animals in danger because they just want to love on these beautiful creatures. Oh! A YT cryptid hunter caught a panther up by (I think) Frozen Head! It for sure was a big cat stalking wild boar! Thank you! I always enjoy y’all’s content and learn something new! Your dad is a true outdoorsman. I could listen to him for hours! So much knowledge! I’m hoping once I’m on my feet, I can start hiking again. I’m praying for y’all, special prayers for Granny🫶🏼🙏🏻

It was really exciting!!! We were not scared, but cautious. Had two police here. One watching and the other helping. Also had the fire chief here, watching. Lol Beautiful cat. In West Tennessee, where I'm from, the main things you have to be careful about are cottonmouths, copperheads, coyotes, and the red wasps. You also want to keep attention about for black panthers and woodboogers, though many don't believe in them.

Enjoyed seeing the photos. We have had multiple bear encounters in our mountain community. A few weeks ago a bear was standing at our chicken coop in the middle of the night and I opened the door and yelled at him. He blew through the chicken run fence and destroyed it. Last year we had 6 different bears come through our community. One bear ripped the door off of our shed and took two bags of chicken feed. I made a video of me getting the bags back from where he stashed them down the road. 😆 I took my shotgun with me loaded with rubber bullets just in case.

My favorite was the two elusive young 'uns at the end! This was great! You didn't mention cougars/panthers/mountain lions. Have y'all ever seen one? My sister saw one twice on their property and their daughter saw its tracks down at one of the creeks near their house. That's been several years ago and they haven't seen it again (there's been a lot of homes built/population growth in our county in recent years). The official line of the wildlife commission in our area is that there are no mountain lions in this area, but too many people I know have seen them for me to believe that. We see bobcats hit by cars every now and again, so I know we have a good population of them and a gracious plenty of coyotes here, too. Jane from SC ❤🙏 (I loved you interviewing your dad. It's always great to hear him talk about being out in the woods/hunting/etc. I'm praying daily for you and the little one to be safe and healthy. Take care; Much love to you.)

Just hangs out down there and eats then goes off in the woods. We have seen a mama and babies last year!! We just leave it alone ….. and it goes its way. They are beautiful animals to watch from a distance. But we have little Yorkies so they aren’t allowed outside our fenced area until it goes away! Great video Katie!!! Take care! 🐻❤️

My husband and I had pulled up front to pick up someone flying in and while waiting in the car I had to go to the bathroom so I went thur the automatic doors inside and found the rest room and as I walking out a deer jumped thur like a triple glass full length window. I heard the glass break and froze and the next thing I know I am looking face to face with a bloody nose deer. It took off down the corridor and I went towards the door to run out and the deer turned around and followed me out the door. My husband said I had the weirdest look on my face and he couldn’t believe what he saw behind me.

Great video Katie. Here in SWV we have alot of bears here, So we all stay prepared especially if the momma has her cubs with her. Trail cam was awesome!

Excellent advice Katie! I would much rather be prepared than not. Ive had experience where i may have needed a weapon more than not. I love to explore and like your Dad, Im not gonna let fear keep me inside my house. Thankyou! Very interesting video.❤️

Hello little sister (in Christ), read Genesis 9:2. I have also hunted most of my life. I have found that the most dangerous critter in the woods are the 2 legged kind! It's always good to be prepared for the unexpected, so keep that firearm with you. Most folks that drive have never had a flat tire, but they carry a spare. It's just good common sense, which is so uncommon these days! God bless you!

We have friends who rent a house/cabin every time they takes classes at John C Campbell Folk School. It’s past the blacksmith shop, headed your way. They’ve had bears on their porch there.

Thank you for this video. I’ve always wondered about wildlife while hiking. I guess my biggest fear is coming across snakes.

You answered a lot of the questions I have had from watching your channels. I’ve never seen a bear in the wild but my son had a small black bear in his trash in Georgia.
