    We use tons of paprika, we just call it differently. Check the bags on which it's written BOIA. They come in 2 versions: spicy n not (IUTE for spicy, DULCE for not spicy). N I highly suggest you yo use fresh garlic, it's way more flavorful. Great video n I hope you enjoy your stay

      @@alinastanescu6208 Thank you and I appreciate the recommendation! I finally found the paprika, I was looking in the wrong place. You all have all the spices. Yes, fresh is best and more flavorful. Delighted to hear you enjoyed the video and I was eating tomatoes like apples 😋.

    This is such a great video. I appreciate the relevant content. I thoroughly enjoyed the grocery store clip, restaurants, and the information regarding Dracula 😊

      @QueenofDC  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for watching and sharing that you enjoyed the video 🥰. I love grocery stores and go daily 😆. They have so many cozy restaurants and cafes. It's a walkable city and each day was a new adventure. Love learning the history and story about Dracula 🧛‍♂️. The tour guide said Dracula had beef with Transylvania so rumors were spread he drank blood and was a beast then it backfired. Dracula won the battle with them so there's no way he's from there, he did a lot of damage to the city. U.S. travelers wanted to know/see where he lived so they made it a place for them 🤣. Also In the video, I show the National Bank, which still keeps half of its gold in a safe. The other half is in Russia! During World War II, they were allies, but now they can’t get it back 😩.

    You’ve stayed hundreds of yards from the Royal Palace, Calea Victoriei Avenue, right in the center of the city!

      Yes!! It was a prime location right in the heart of the city and so happy with my choice. Very much enjoyed it 🥰. That's cool and it does add a layer of character and creativity to the urban landscape, even if it’s a bit unconventional. In Washington, DC, the local government began commissioning graffiti artists, which really boosted the city’s vibrancy and creative energy. Stunning works of art! 💕

    I apologize in advance for this long comment and awful formatting!!
    This is literally the best video on the internet in English about this wonderful city, I thank you for the very bottom of my heart to the top.
    I understand you must be from D.C. according to your username, and so I must say I LOVED D.C. so much when I stayed, and it was my favorite city in the country besides Chicago and NYC.
    Im very glad you enjoyed bucharest. They actually have somewhat similar city layouts within regards to the Boulevard system, like paris. Truly, I think these 3 cities share something truly beautiful but so distinct, but I can't name it.
    I hope you return soon, so much of romania is beautiful and open to explore, people are hospitable and non political, this video made me cry and miss home, so thank you, for the memories and the beauty.
    I even miss the graffiti I used to watch as people would develop from their chicken scratch beginnings to beautiful artistic expressions that would get protests if they were cleaned off.
    You are so right about the food and veggies and the tomatoes omg. 🍅 😋

      Thank you so much for your kind and heartfelt message 💕. It truly means a lot that you enjoyed the video and found it so meaningful. Bucharest is such a special city, and I’m glad I could help you reflect on home and cherished meories.
      You’re absolutely right about the similarities between Bucharest, Paris, and cities like D.C.-I often said the streets reminded me of D.C. It’s amazing how they each carry their own magic while sharing some common threads.
      I agree-Romania has so much beauty to offer, and I hope to return soon to explore more of it. The hospitality, the incredible food, and yes, those tomatoes-absolutely unforgettable! Even the graffiti adds a unique layer to the city’s charm and creativity.
      Thank you again for your thoughtful words. It’s messages like yours that remind me why I love sharing these experiences. Wishing you all the best and sending you love and light ✨ 🥰.

    Hey Shawn This city looks wonderful. Did I notice that one apartment had gas cooking and the other had that new fangle style? Were the restaurants in your opinion/budget affordable? Did you notice any items in restaurants that weren't meat focus, asking for a non-meat eater?

    • @QueenofDC
      @QueenofDC  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, one had a gas stove and the other electric. It was great to cook on the gas stove and not have to figure out how to operate the electric range, which can vary slightly even though I use it all the time. Bucharest is budget-friendly; I spent just $12 on a full bag of groceries, which included fresh juice, meat, condiments, and vegetables. The restaurants are reasonably priced too. Since I eat meat, I didn’t pay much attention to non-meat options, but I’m sure you can find places for non-meat eaters with a little research. The city has a variety of restaurants catering to different preferences, and I wish I could have dined at half the places I saw!

    I live in Bucharest ! It’s polluted, depressing, uninteresting and stressful !
    I’ve been trying to like it since I’ve come here but can’t quite like it. Once you live here, you realise how difficult it is to move from one place to another due to the heavy traffic .. It’s a driver’s nightmare!
    I would just say: Every place is nice when you’re a tourist !

    • @QueenofDC
      @QueenofDC  5 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @@kahinaharrache5026 I understand where you’re coming from, as I live abroad and have had to adjust to different environments too. However, as someone exploring the world, visiting places is my first step to see if I even like them. I agree that being a tourist offers a different perspective, but I can still enjoy those moments and share my experiences for others who may just be interested in visiting.
      For anyone considering living in a place, I always recommend speaking directly with locals or people who have lived there long-term. Their insights are invaluable and often help paint a clearer picture of what daily life is really like.

      As a romanian I confirm our Irish friends are right. The guy ppl call dracula was actually a very beloved romanian prince n we hate to see ppl call him a vampire. He was cruel but it was necessary in the middle ages when Christian Europe had challenging times to face the Ottoman empire . We were a tiny principality compared to the empire (actually several empires around us, trying to gulp us up 😅). Defending our identity, freedom n religion was a very tough job. Vlad the impaler just turned some Turks into kebabs in order to scare them a bit, or else we couldn't possibly deal with armies outnumbering us in ratio of at least 10:1. But Dracula is actually a romanian word, not Irish. Vlad's father was named Vlad Draculea (the dragon) bc he belongs to the knights order "of the dragon". The rest is the imagination of Bram Stocker. And for most romanians I know it's very sad to see how nowaday our history that costed so many lives is speculated for money but how can we stop locals to take advantage of the tourists appetite for supernatural?! Besides, our own tradition is saturated with legends of weird supernatural creatures, just lk the Irish one. But not vampires tho. Undead would be the closest thing. Fun fact, ppl in villages have to this day stories of undead ppl they swear they met 🙄😂

    What’s an ormond ticket?

    • @QueenofDC
      @QueenofDC  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      An onward ticket is proof of a confirmed travel reservation showing that you will be leaving a country after your stay, such as a flight, bus, or train ticket to another destination. Often countries (immigration authorities) require an onward ticket to ensure that travelers don’t overstay their visa. Airlines may sometimes require proof of an onward ticket and either enter it into their system or just check it visually. It’s up to their discretion, and they may not always ask. However, if they do, you’ll need to purchase one before being allowed to board the plane if you don't have one. Immigration may or may not request it. In Mexico, immigration requested my onward ticket. In Boston, the airline asked me if I had an onward ticket for Thailand but didn't check. Review the immigration rules of the country before you travel.

    • @CoLivingSingle
      @CoLivingSingle 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@QueenofDC Thank you! I've never heard of this and have never been asked for it!

    • @QueenofDC
      @QueenofDC  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@CoLivingSingle There are services like Onward Ticket where you can buy a temporary ticket as proof for 24-48 hours for $16, which then expires. This saves you from needing to buy a more expensive ticket right away. If you purchase from an airline, be sure to check their cancellation policy if you plan to cancel after buying. They’ve been asking more frequently in Asia lately. I was asked last week, along with another couple, and we all had to buy onward tickets 😆. I was hoping they wouldn’t ask this time, but they did! I stepped aside, hit purchase, and then returned to the agent, who handed me my boarding pass.
