Yeah doesn’t show in the video if he puts a lock on the trailer doors or not. The company I drove for they make you get a kingpin lock and a enforcer trailer door lock at the companies shop which comes out of your pay before you leave orientation.

It's easy to see how that mistake happened, after a 20 hour day especially. Don't beat yourself up, sh1t happens and this was a really easy mistake to happen given all the circumstances

"Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice..." Such a fitting cliche to use earlier in the video, considering what you talked about at the end. A mistake was made. You cited details that contributed to the mistake. Now you have a first-hand experience with trucking that will make you more "seasoned". You never know when you'll end up in a similar situation again, or when an opportunity could come to pass that knowledge on to another trucker who hasn't had an experience like that before.
25:57 right as you pull in you can see the trailer you grabbed lol. it was the next to last one. Which means someone moved yours and the knight trailer leaving that one on the end. Damn That sucks.
I get how you feel, yes, you should have checked the number but mistakes happen, we're only human. On the flip side of that, who ever moved your tailor should have said " Hey I moved it over blah blah " or they should have checked it as well! don't beat yourself up over it man, it happens, Drive safe!
When I first started in trucking I was with a certain company with red trucks and a very English name(but no knighthood). Part of the training program involved forced teaming(ugh!). Well, I got teamed with a guy who was pretty confident, enough that I didn't feel the need to babysit him at least. We swap at a pick-up at a meat packing plant. I tell him we're picking up, where we're headed, had that GPS all set up, and I'd see him after my 10. Which I did. 500 miles down the road with an empty trailer because apparently I didn't specify enough that we need to pick up the product first before we, you know, start delivering it?! Mistakes happen, man. It won't be the end of the world. Hell, just the other day I had an Amazon order that, looking at the tracking, was put on a flight from Kentucky to Oregon, but then apparently someone scanned it but left it on the plane, because after getting to Oregon it turned right around and went back to Kentucky, and that's the company that prides itself with being the most efficient shippers. lol
Navajo driver here: First time & only time thus far, I've driven the wrong trailer was from Shaw Industries distribution yard in Denver. It was supposed to be an empty because I'm going 6 hours (physically 5 hours but we leave mountain time zone to central time zone) ...away to Liberal, KS to National Beef. With that load going to Charlotte NC. My home city. I kept saying to myself as soon as I'm on the interstate like this feels loaded. I pull off to the shoulder and sure enough the trailer number was off by one digit at the end. My eyes scanned, but evidently stopped before the last digit. Luckily I had only driven about 30 minutes out on E I-70 and didn't get all the way to National Beef with a trailer full of carpets. Lol! 🤭😉
I did that once.I worked for RPS pulling double pups.Under strained relations with the contractor I worked for.I pulled one right one.I think the other was empty. But one wrong trailer from Buffalo,NY to Columbus,Oh.The contractor I worked for had to run the right trailer down there that night. He was supper to do pick up/delivery the next day with the one truck.I nearly got fired but we worked it out...
i drove in the midwest so in winter we ran the button snap on covers in front in winter but our feet would freeze so i would take blankets and shove them in front of brake and accerlater pedal.heater was working but never helped your feet your toes froze
I know the feeling on mixing up trailer and having the right paperwork, ive done that once before myself from macon ga all the way down to Miami Florida so I had to take it all the way back that next day
Getting called to the terminal is like getting called to the principal's office..lol...i have made so many " one time only" mistakes in trucking but learn fast not to repeat..
I’m confident I would have done the same exact thing. Saw the same company trailer with the similar numbers dropped in the same spot I dropped the original trailer in, not expecting anybody to touch my trailer..
You’ve got the Bills for the other load you left at the Terminal so Bristol is in route to Pennsylvania from where your at down there. Just take that trailer back to Bristol and either get your old trailer and go back down or give it to somebody else and you take that trailer to Pennsylvania, just don’t forget to swap the bills. 😊
@@RidingWithDave and weren’t the first three digits of the trailer number the same on both? 161xx? Which, if so, made it even more unlikely to be noticed.
Amazing coincidence - the saga of the "where did it go" Ormsby trailer. Something as unique as a trailer having the aluminum fairings sitting in the same spot you dropped yours at, but being a few numbers off. I wonder where the original 16103 trailer went - hmm.
We truckers are all brothers who's blood is bonded by diesel. I once had a shipper give me the wrong trailer and I only verified the trailer number but not the destination because I didn't really think it was possible for a shipper to give me a wrong trailer. It was very confusing that they put the wrong trailer on the BOL but I was supposedly supposed to have an entire different shipment/BOL. I even told them where I was going and just assumed they had the intelligence to give correct shipment based on destination. So many unexpected unintentional traps to watch out for in trucking makes my head spin till my neck breaks.
Oh my God so sorry Dave can't believe someone did that holly Jesus, someone did that to our reefer last Tuesday my brother & I in Cali lucky mulle guy move the reefer to another docking bay we got mad because they didn't told us nothing, so sorry it happen to you Dave just relax an take it easy man😉
oh man Dave that sucks I can somewhat relate once you backed into that spot I'm like: bet this is where his mistake happened yea man we all make big mistakes when I was a leader at Safeway yrs ago a few times the drivers would hand me paperwork but it was for another store idk how they screwed that up so what we ended up doing was calling the other store make plans with them I'd be like OK I'll be there in 20 minutes I'd load up our supplies into my vehicle (of course give them their order first) and go back to my store and several times the drivers would be like sorry Matt here's half our pay since you physically put their load of stuff in your car then went back for your stores correct stuff I'm like nah Don't worry about it just please pay attention to the store # on the paperwork my store is 797 ok thx !!
Man I remember I was driving teams for the holidays last year .. we were trying to get home for Xmas and then at night my partner was like “ all I have to do is pick up this loaded trailer at the yard and we’re back home overnight” but then the trailer wasn’t there then they told us to go somewhere else .. then the place was closed then back to the yard until they finally said “get the empty you had and take that one back to the yard(close to home)” 🤦🏻♂️ we lost like 3 hours 🤦🏻♂️ so stupid man ..
That end make me think what happened to 16113 if it didn't show up there in savanna is it still at the yard somewhere or did it go to Pennsylvania for another driver to find out 4 days later he had the wrong trailer
Hey Dave! I work for watsontown trucking company and they just happen to have a terminal next to the one you guys have in dublin. Every time I pass an online transport truck I look for ya 😂. I’m the odd duck in the company I have a black truck instead of blue lol.
Headed down to Savannah, you will pass my neck of the woods. Keep an eye out for TANGER outlet down I-75 about 25 miles south of Atlanta. Honk when you go by!
Shit happens the whole trailer deal is just a mess ya dont expect anyone to move your trailer. Seen years ago a liquor store in Kansas called Dick Liquor he had shirts and all funniest shit ever. Far as your venting ya got to do it sometime, not like ya got someone to vent to its all good. Be safe ✌️
I work in a fleet shop and Ive screwed up by grabbing a sister trailer thats 1 or 2 digits off. Its like 200 ft to the shop an it pissed me off like crazy. I cant even imagine that happening otr.

A little piece of advice, please don’t cut when you actually drop and hook. As a new permit holder about to start next week I would like to see the whole process just to reinforce my knowledge. I walk through the steps with you as I name everything and so forth. So thanks for the great content and you definitely have a new sub. Hope to see you out there one day.
Someone did that on purpose, because why move your trailer and replace it with an identical one, and where did they move your trailer to, for what reason?
I feel like if the company is having you show up at service 30 minutes before the end of your clock, they should be paying for a local hotel so that you can get your proper rest and come back the next day to pick up your truck when you are rested and maybe avoid this.
Hey Dave, I’m new to trucking and I’m curious to why I’ve seen you do this in several of your videos now…why do you very often hold your trailer air supply in when you pull your parking brake? Is it just for quicker take off and less air pressure loss when you’re ready to move? Thanks!
Lol it happens Dave, not to me because I had nightmares (im serious) of me fucking stuff up like this & now i quadruple check trailers/container #s. Hell i even check that the 5th is properly hooked up multiple times b4 moving. 1 night at a home depot trailer yard It was tight & pouring rain, I backed in but it was dropped fucking high, so i cracked it down having to use all of my body weight & strength lowered it in perfectly. Hooked the lines checked lights tires etc. Got in put in the info drove forward & trailer came with me. Made the right to the exit & still coming out the spot it slid off & slammed down! Im confused at wtf could've broke, get out to see I never fucking backed in fully to lock it in! 🤦🏿♂️ Thankfully despite there being yard jockeys & other trucks NOBODY saw this & nobody heard a damn thing 😂 so I cranked it up backed in checked 3 times got in & drove out like it was a casual Tuesday. 😂 aint tell nobody but my mom what had happened but it didnt rip the lines or damage anything so i was good. Ever since i have this irrational fear of fucking up & often after making sure everything is good doubt myself that I checked everything & have to reassure myself I did everything right. Now in a completely new job I have a consistency & just check everything the same way daily so I know i didnt forget anything.
Can you make a video explaining what all the hours mean because you say you have 14 hours on your clock but what does that mean. Same with like a 8-2 split?
Meh. Dont feel to bad. I did something like that years ago. Grabbed the wrong paperwork, hence the wrong trailer. Only went from Chicago to Milwaukee. So it wasn't super bad. So, then did your trailer head to Pennsylvania?

I went to pull a trailer from one of our customer sites my company goes to once. I was picking up 53659 and when i went to pick it up in the yard there. There was another driver already hooking up to it. I asked him what's going on? Turns out he was suppose to get 53656 trailer. Which was parked right next to it. Lol Thankfully i was there at that moment so both of us didn't take the wrong trailer even though they both were going to the same place. But this way neither of us had to deal with the guard check in at the designation having to explain that one lol

Ole Dave pulling an ancient Werner trailer. 😂
We have all made mistakes Dave . Don't stress
God i am so glad to be local now on a dedicated route. I feel for you Dave.
Same. Fuel haul home every day. Never have to do the empty egg hunt again nor goofy routing from dispatch.
you must not love driving
sounds boring
Hey Dave god bless you mate lots of love from India
I know the feeling on mixing up trailer and having the right paperwork, ive done that once before myself from macon ga all the way down to Miami Florida so I had to take it all the way back that next day
Anytime you have to spend more time than necessary in Macon is a bad time.
man .. I hope you don't get fired.. that sucks though.. it is a hard lesson.. but at least it was a lesson learned :)
They were fine with it. Think if I did something like that often I might be at risk but I’m still here lol
@@RidingWithDave and weren’t the first three digits of the trailer number the same on both? 161xx? Which, if so, made it even more unlikely to be noticed.
That's the same exact trailer down to the aluminum skirt, 7 numbers apart. What are the chances of that?
Everyone makes mistakes man, keep truckin!
I need to know what happened next! I can't concentrate pulling my trailer worrying about Dave.
I found your channel this week. I love your personality on video. I’ve watched a bunch of your videos now. They are great!
Those aluminum trailer skirts are expensive. Good job Dave. Love your new Volvo.
Amazing coincidence - the saga of the "where did it go" Ormsby trailer. Something as unique as a trailer having the aluminum fairings sitting in the same spot you dropped yours at, but being a few numbers off. I wonder where the original 16103 trailer went - hmm.
Nothing to get upset about. It happens to the best of us.
Oh my God so sorry Dave can't believe someone did that holly Jesus, someone did that to our reefer last Tuesday my brother & I in Cali lucky mulle guy move the reefer to another docking bay we got mad because they didn't told us nothing, so sorry it happen to you Dave just relax an take it easy man😉
I found your channel through Jeff Favignano talking about your channel
Trucking can be unpredictable sometimes. But that's Trucking. Nice video
oh man Dave that sucks I can somewhat relate once you backed into that spot I'm like: bet this is where his mistake happened yea man we all make big mistakes when I was a leader at Safeway yrs ago a few times the drivers would hand me paperwork but it was for another store idk how they screwed that up so what we ended up doing was calling the other store make plans with them I'd be like OK I'll be there in 20 minutes I'd load up our supplies into my vehicle (of course give them their order first) and go back to my store and several times the drivers would be like sorry Matt here's half our pay since you physically put their load of stuff in your car then went back for your stores correct stuff I'm like nah Don't worry about it just please pay attention to the store # on the paperwork my store is 797 ok thx !!
New Fear Unlocked.
Thanks Dave 👍
That end make me think what happened to 16113 if it didn't show up there in savanna is it still at the yard somewhere or did it go to Pennsylvania for another driver to find out 4 days later he had the wrong trailer
Hey Dave! I work for watsontown trucking company and they just happen to have a terminal next to the one you guys have in dublin. Every time I pass an online transport truck I look for ya 😂. I’m the odd duck in the company I have a black truck instead of blue lol.
Jeez man; you're going to blow a gasket looking for your trailer.
Be safe ✌️
It’s like I used to tell my son when he screwed up in soccer. “If that’s the worst thing that happens today, it’s been a pretty good day.”
Hey Dave I am curious how do you like the Volvo I haven’t heard much about it from you
Oh oh , gulp
Unfortunately the chances just enough. Bad news yeah human makes mistakes I want to be perfect too. Best David
I work in a fleet shop and Ive screwed up by grabbing a sister trailer thats 1 or 2 digits off. Its like 200 ft to the shop an it pissed me off like crazy. I cant even imagine that happening otr.
Dave u are right with what u have saide I a green with u its a mistake , robert I. Dekalb Illinois,
No way Dave I missed you there 2 days ago! I drive for Averitt, and we have a contract with CLG there building 40 and 50.
At about 1:20 in the video I noticed you passed a fast food restaurant called Pals Sudden Service its a big blue building with giant hotdog and fries on the building EVERY CHANCE YOU GET STOP AND EAT THERE!!! I promise you won't be disappointed they have the best fast food they blow Inn n out and whataburger out the water and their regional to Southwest Virginia Northeast TN McDonald's fries don't have sht on Pals fries I BET MONEY ON THAT! all their burgers are good and if you like sweet tea get the peachy tea or try the peachy mellow yellow it's bussin bro take my advice lol you can't drive a rig thru the drive thru but people walk thru that's common so don't feel weird about it they won't think your weird lol
Dude… it happens.. no one died.. lesson learned.. good luck
Wow just wow I think you are the Why is driver have ever listened to. I've been driving for thirty four years and I think that you broke the mode for being the winiest
The water heater place is a dedicated account for averitt I used to work for them.
I love that johnson city Tennessee line shouting out old crow medicine show. Well i hope you werent shouting out darius rucker lol.
the company I run for Krueger Trucking they only run them aluminum side skirts on are trailers
Averitt has a lot of dropyards in Tennessee, their headquarters is in cookeville Tennessee
That’s tough you always Learn a lesson from mistakes a deposit to the school of experience
Ps. 3 min for that popcorn is way too much time. I know you had some burnt kernels, unless you were watching and listening to it. 😂😂😂
Someone did that on purpose, because why move your trailer and replace it with an identical one, and where did they move your trailer to, for what reason?
The Aluminum Skirt Curse hit again…
they’re conspiring against whomever dislikes their look.
I lost it at 15:10 when he said security I immediately thought about South Park
I feel like if the company is having you show up at service 30 minutes before the end of your clock, they should be paying for a local hotel so that you can get your proper rest and come back the next day to pick up your truck when you are rested and maybe avoid this.
That’s truckin Dave, that’s truckin
Best expression i've heard so far " That really chaps my rear end " 😂
Thankfully despite there being yard jockeys & other trucks NOBODY saw this & nobody heard a damn thing 😂 so I cranked it up backed in checked 3 times got in & drove out like it was a casual Tuesday.
That's trucking Dave!
We have all done it bud!
Looks like you should carry around some white spray paint guy. That Big G trailer was flexing on your preloaded 😂 lord
How can yer 14 be done, then shop gets done with yer tractor….so how can you hook up and start to savanna???…where/how did you get fresh hours ??!!
Never seen aluminum skirts either I like it looks fancy lol
I’m the opposite I can’t stand the glad hand connectors that move or swivel. I like the little stationary ones 🤷🏽♂️
S happens, live and learn! But out of curiosity, did the second trailer also have that aluminum side skirts?
The first time You Backed In The Trailer Yard In The Beginning Dave You Swung Her Right On In Dare Good Shit💪🏽‼️ Truck trucker lol🤣 I thought it was be backing up an we know people gonna hate you got a automatic but I bet they can’t back better than that a lot of space or no‼️
I went to pull a trailer from one of our customer sites my company goes to once.
Oh man the famous trailer # snafu ☠️. Usually they always sent me to the wrong Amazon facility.
#TruckingMoments gotta
Love and hate it but you can’t do anything but laugh.
Dave they don't have to tell you anything! You should have noticed it when you pretrip it! Did you pre trip it?
