Hey hey! Yes, do more vids like this. I feel you on the Shine and Jam. I absolutely hate that stuff. Haven't used it in over 5-6 years. LOL! But I did go back and use pink lotion recently. It held up pretty well!
I think (not sure bc I didn’t grow up using it) Shine n’ Jam is more for styles on dry/stretched hair. I got one bc the girls and much like your experience, when I tried to use it for styling my edges/parting on wet/damp hair it was a hot mess that ended up turning into gross buildup way before my wash day.
For the one time I did box braids on myself it worked fine to keep the parts neat.
Omg growing up my mom would wash and condition my hair with Creme of nature. Then she would use the lusters pink lotion and the original green blue magic to braid my hair. My hair was always soft, shiny, and so full.
Yeah, it's like it has to be mixed with grease.
@@yolandawilson6619 yea I agree. I have heard people complain about the lotion but I think my mom using it with the grease is why I never had anything bad to say about it because it never gave me problems. Plus I use to like the signature Black girl scent it gave me from her using constantly lol
My mom used ALL these products on my hair as a child 😍 Great Memories!!!
My mother used the same products and my hair was down my back. I went back to using grease instead of oil.

We actually don’t 😅. Some people just like trying different products. I can use my top 3/4 products forever.
I hate that shine and jam as well. It has no hold. It lasts for seconds to compress the hair to braid or whatever and then it’s gone. And it’s still number one rated for braiders 😮
i think its number one because they basically require you come with your straight. i came blowed and she basically blow dried it straight after saying she needed it more straight

After many years, I went back to using Mane n Tail Original Shampoo and Conditioner. The very first time I used it I wondered why my mom stopped using it. It works wonders for me! It’s been great for controlling oil and dandruff, and using the conditioner alone is great for me in between wash days (if I feel like I need it; usually it works fine to just wet my hair).
Would you consider a part 2 by the way? I’m curious what else were widely considered OG products. My house used to use a lot of Ampro Pro Styl black gel. To my memory it held the hair very well but it did not smell good. Wonderful video!

Good old school product. BUT it used to ALWAYS work it's way to my forehead (making me shiny) then it kept going causing a film into my contact lens 👀 not happy😒 if you workout with this carry Visine eye wash👀

The shampoo was too harsh for me but I LOVEEE the conditioner I keep it in and it makes my curls pop soooo much

I use VO5 Extra Body Shampoo, and the conditioner as a leave in. I also use the VO5 hot oil treatment. Everyday, im stopped about my hair. Easy is so much better! ❤❤❤❤
Omg because of your videos, I tried Blue Magic (growing up, I just used the pink oil, a similar bootleg carrot oil product that was AMAZING, or Vaseline lol) and it’s been FANTASTIC. My hair looks and feels great. I pretty much only use water, a leave-in conditioner, grape seed oil for oil rinses, and Blue Magic to style my hair. Jam is the bomb you have to use it on dry hair because it's an conditioning gel. I love Mane & Tail product's been using them since the late 90's and Luster's pink lotion.
I’ve used it on dry hair before , still don’t like it 😅. Happy it works for you though😉.

I use to use mane and tail shampoo and conditioner but it doesn't work for me. Pink lotion works excellent for me

I'm interested in trying the Mane n Tail shampoo. I only wash my hair with sulfate shampoo because I wash my hair twice a month. I've been using Joico clarifying shampoo for years cause it's a great cleanser, but Mane is half the price.
Tail and mane shampoo is great and will leave hair soft you can put a small amout back on as a leave in and comb thru.ì have used it for 66 years and now today i an 80 hair middle ways my back.god bless you❤

Back when I was a child(in cameroon) we just used the good old "brown" soap as I will call it as I do not know how to write the name of it or if there is an English version of the name. but anyway, we use that soap for like, literally everything, body wash, dish soap, washing clothes and washing hair. I'm not sure if I used any oils or palm oil for my hair. Not sure if it was healthy but I used that. Now I don't really know what I use or pay much attention, I just use whatever my family buys.

@lotuseater3968 I searched up Cameroonian brown soap, and what came up was canoe soap.
@lotuseater3968 It looks like a brownish, slightly transparent color. I don't know if that's what you're looking for.
It was called octagon soap. I used it too years ago.

I just want to point out mane n tail is for horses😂 the marketing says people can use it too but it works better on horses because it removes dried mud build up after 2 lathers and it leaves the mane very soft even without using conditioner. My husband had an Andalusian horse and it gave her a nice shine soo beautiful that his brother wanted her so my husband gave the horse to his brother.☺️
Most blacks who use this are aware lol. There used to be a very degrading joke that black peoples hair is like horse hair…hence why it works so well for us. Nonetheless, a lot of us still use it and get great results.
