      I am not a food contious person. I can grow long hair when I am ready. Just like her. I just use the basics. Besides a growth oil mixed with black rice water on my scalp only every two months. Right before my wash. Bergamont on my scalp with a protective style. Low maintenance is the key. I only comb my hair when I redo my box braids. My hair has grown so much. My box braids are barely holding on. Time to redo them. I also take multivitamins. You can do it to. 😊😊😊😊

      Agreed. When I went raw vegan, and used a herbal detox kit that I got from one of these black gurus, and drank nearly a gallon of water a day, my hair grew back thicker within 2 months. Also, I was using the Doogrosulfur8 edge grow challenge without the fertilizer or wild gro oil.
      But, maybe like, a year or so later, my hair started thinning, drying and breaking. When I did the challenge, it made it worse. The herbal detox kit helped the most so I'm thinking it could have also been a mineral deficiency on top of bad eating habits and not drinking a lot of water.

    I know many people have already said this, but YES! to this routine. I've gone back to shampoo, a GREAT leave in conditioner, and hair grease! I braid it up and leave it for a week or two. I refresh (in braids) every other day or so with water (plain or JCBO by as I am), leave in conditioner and grease. I wrap it up most days (except for dance class, but for that I just sort of tuck it up and let it be--I don't care what it looks like). My hair is super kinky (I'm talking the tightest coils you can imagine. Whatever you have it mind, it's tighter than that). Within a month my hair was longer and stronger. I keep meaning to do a length check. It's somewhere around collar bone length and it was a little below the ear when I started this routine in the summer.

I had it cut into a Bob in May. 8 weeks later in July and it’s below my collar bome/shoulders again. I Wash/shampoo/conditioning my hair every 3-4 weeks, then putting my hair in these same exact twists. I section my hair, spray my hair with water, run black castor oil through, moisturize with Camille rose and blue magic and TWIST into sections. Pin it back and leave it alone for another 3-4 weeks. The only thing I do is retwist/remoisturize every 2 weeks and hit wash day on week 3/4.

    I honestly think texture has something to do with it. The looser it is, the less it’ll curl up on itself and tangle which means less manipulation and less breakage from trying to detangle it. Which is why those with straight hair always have longer hair.🙆🏾‍♀️

      Type 4b/a here and id say you're wrong. Having a solid detangling routine and potectiving styling will drastically minimize tangles. If you loose hair faster than it grow because of the lack of a proper detangling routine then you'll surely have trouble retaining and seeing that length.

    Be careful using grease in your hair! It traps in moisture and your hair can break from over moisturizing. I didn’t know this was possible but I tried grease in my hair but with a lot more water and hair cream, then some grease on top thinking it would be a good idea and in just 2 weeks my thick coarse texture became soft thin and my hair started to break off. The first sign before this happened was that after I washed the grease off, my hair was abnormally frizzy. I tried the grease for another week and my hair was breaking a lot. I did research and found that this was due to damage from too much moisture. Now I’m trying to add less water in my hair throughout the week (without grease for now) and leave it alone to see if it goes back to normal. Using a light protein treatment will also help. Letting you guys know so you won’t have to go through this.

    • @The.Whoever
      @The.Whoever 2 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      Sounds like you just needed a protein treatment from jump. Do you use protein regularly to keep your hair balanced?

    • @Kath3rine13
      @Kath3rine13 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@The.Whoever That’s probably what happened. But my hair has never reacted like that to anything. I’ve even damaged my hair with heat before but it never broke off like that. I think it was just that I used too much water/moisture under the grease for 2 weeks straight and it kept my hair cuticles open, which caused my hair to break easily.

    • @The.Whoever
      @The.Whoever 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@Kath3rine13 I see. I'm high porosity so its easy for me to get hygral fatigue.
      I keep a protein rich DC in my regimen.
      Also you should try a mix of aloe & water instead. Specifically the Lily if the Dessert aloe vera. It has a ph of 4 so it will keep your cuticle closed.
      I do leave in, cream, aloe spray, then oil mixed with grease. I alternate my protein and hydrating conditioners as needed.
      I will definitely keep this in mind.

    • @karenscales5077
      @karenscales5077 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I have used grease for years. The key is to wear it in a protective style. I put it on my scalp with box braids. It retains the moisture. I also do a protein treatment. At least every 8 weeks after I take down my braids. You don't need water. Just the grease. Water will break your hair off not the grease. My protein treatment is only applied to my scalp. Black rice water mixed with growth oils. Overnight. After that. I wash with a clarifying shampoo and my regular shampoo. Just Bergamont hair grease on my scalp for 8 weeks. My braids retain moisture and the hair slips right out. Protective styles is the key. Low manipulation. Black hair is very sensitive to constant combing and manipulation. It just is. Unless you are wearing a roller set that you only have to shake after having it wrapped up at night. That is always my go to in the fall.

    My hair is so thin that I can never have chunky braids without added hair. And then my natural hair rejects the synthetic hair and it all falls out pretty quickly. The struggle is real 😭😭

    I hear the grease argument but my problem is how the heck do you get it out without drying your hair. Don’t you have to use really stripping sulfate shampoos? I really need help because I do want to use it

    • @I_am_Musiq94
      @I_am_Musiq94 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It comes out with any shampoo. Just like if you were to get hair grease on your hands you’d use soap to wash it off…I wash my hair twice, once to wash out the product and the second time to actually wash my scalp and hair then follow with conditioner or deep conditioner

    • @SH-vj2ce
      @SH-vj2ce ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. You need a sulfate shampoo... you must use this to get the grease off your strands. Every week or two wash, condition, grease.
