Looks and sounds great! I recently acquired a CSX 1970 RS-5TFX. It was really a S-5TFX originally. At some point CSX added the RS chambers to it. I can't wait to make a video of it! I might be interested in this horn if it is available! Have a great day!
Just something I thought I'd mention, I believe the "RRO" designation actually just means that 2 bells are reversed, Not just the 44 and 55 bells are reversed. While that arrangement is the most common for RS5TRROs, there was also a 31/44 reversal arrangement for RS5TRROs. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong though since I'm not a hundred percent certain on that info.
The cool thing about NS is, unlike CSX, which has systematically replaced theirs with the "Crappy Ks" on their entire fleet, the NS apparently likes them and doesn't swap them out for Nathan Ks unless they need to be replaced. In fact, they supposedly continue to get them new *out the box". I don't know how they worked that out since the consensus is that the RS5T has not been made in about 30 years. When CSX was formed they inherited a huge number of RS5TRROs/ RS5TFXs S5Ts from the standard horn on L&N, Clinchfield, SCL, B&O/ C&I and in their early years the Leslie 5 was standard on most of CSXs locomotive fleet, but I guess progressive thinking management wanted a more *politicly correct ", softer horn that was " less offensive". Personally I'd take this horn over the 2011 K5LA any day of the week. New er is not always better
Why was Leslie bout out? Why couldn’t hornblasters just let Leslie keep the cool stuff rolling? I mean out of ALL the companies that hornblasters could’ve ruined it just HAD to be Leslie.
If you need to make room sell one of Your kahlenberg horns or something. You know, a D2 or a kahlenberg horn that doesn’t sound as cool as the RS5T in this video.
Please for the love of god don’t sell this horn. It’s your only CSX RS5T-RRO That you will ever have. It’s here to stay.

Yeah. Yesterday a RS5T was stolen on NS 7550. It was rare because it was on a ES44DC.
Rip. 9779 and 8120 had theirs stolen too. Now all the good ones are gone.

That horn probably came from either the C40-8w or the CSX 8542

I mean they sale RS5T, RS3L, and the diaphragms. But not RS3K and the other parts.
