Procter & Gamble knew exactly how bad Olestra was, that’s why they sold it off so soon after getting it to market, and likely recouping their R&D investment. They knew the backlash was coming. My brother-in-law worked in that plant for years, even after it was sold. He told us how “bad” it was before it ever got approved for use.

Doritos came out in the late 60s-70s with taco flavor and that was so good back then to me as a kid in CA. Then it disappeared but made a comeback some years ago. I’ve found them here at Schnucks in IL, but it doesn’t taste or smell quite the same, like it’s missing something. It seems to me that it tasted tangier (or is it more tangy?) back then than it does now.

You can still get the rippled version, and you can still get them in the little vending machine sized bags, but not in bigger bags. Frito-Lay sued whatever company made them because of the "-Os" at the end of the name, and they then went off the market. Great chips, though. You're welcome and thank you for watching hillbillytrucker8347! That chip you mentioned sounds interesting but I don't have a clue what it is. Hopefully someone can help us out on this one.

@@RhettyforHistory to be honest I don't think it was on the market for very long back then. But I was only four years old when it was on the market and I discovered it when my mom got it for me and my brothers.

New York Deli potato chips were my favorite. I would have them as late night snack while watching the Honeymooners.

Not only do I miss the chips, but the dips too. Heluva Good dips used to be the best before Hood bought them. One of the flavors was New England Clam Dip that is no longer. I had reached out to their customer service on FB and asked why they no longer make it. They tried telling me that it has always been a limited edition. I couldn't believe how they bold face lied to me since I was not only an avid customer, I was a Dairy Manager for 3 years at a grocery store. I haven't supported them since.

You're right about some of the dips disappearing as well. I really don't feel like there are many options now. I guess it's not as popular? Thank you for watching and mentioning that Mickey!

Anheuser Busch had a snack division called Eagle. The chips were very good.
Pizza Spins are another that could come back anytime.

I bought Crunch Tators at Dollar General last Christmas. I was VERY disappointed to find out they are just kettle chips, which I hate 😆😆 My boys thought it was fun to eat them while we watched Home Alone though.
