Hi Rhetty! Thanks for posting this video! One candy bar that I love but is in serious financial trouble is the Mars brand bar. Unfortunately- one problem with this candy being financed is that five countries including the US and the UK want a piece of the pie in producing this bar which includes material and production costs split five different ways and there are also concerns with profit divisions. The last time I was a BA Sweetie Candy Company in Cleveland, OH where I am from- the bar was no longer on the shelves. I hope this is not the case- but this was one of my favorite bars to the current date! I will never forget the smell or taste of it! Thanks for posting this video and God Bless!
Thanks for the memories, Rhetty! 😊 I used to love the Summit and Whatchamacallit bars. 🥰 I miss and have told my kids how a dollar used to buy a whole bag of candy and snacks.

I remember my sister buying the Choco' Lite bars. I think she was under the impression that since the word "Lite" was in the name, it was somehow healthier that regular chocolate!
The chocolate candy bars that I wish would come back are the Nestles Chocolate and Chocolate Almond bars, I thought that they both tasted better than Hershey's Chocolate and Chocolate Almond bars by mile.😊
I miss Willy Wonka's Oompas. They were a candy coated peanut butter and chocolate candy. Much like peanut butter M&Ms but the M&Ms are not the same. Since some of the old fashion candies can be found at Crackle Barrel maybe we'll see some of these there someday.😊
The two I miss the most are the Willy Wonka Skrunch bar and the Marathon bar. Both were amazing -- the Skrunch bar because it tasted so delicious, and the Marathon bar because it took a half-hour to eat.
I just bought a Whatchamacallit few days ago at Walmart. Gone but not forgotten! 😋 Does anyone remember Bar None? It was kind of like a cookie candy bar. Those were good!
I haven't seen the Reggie Bar in my area but I know you can buy them online. A company came back out with them last year. It may be a limited time though. I do see the Charleston Chew from time to time but not real often. Thank you for watching norwoodwildlife9849!
You can see how important the packaging and marketing was for these bars. Kids were not going to pick up a bar that looked boring, but if they saw a great ad on TV, they would look for that bar on the shelf. Put red or yellow and a dynamic picture on the package or forget it. The name was important, too. I would never have tried something named Zagnut.
I had my first Zagnut candy bar when I was 42 years old, which was last year. A store by my house use to sell them, and they became my favorite candy bar. Sadly now, I can’t find them anymore. Thanks Rhett, for this fun video😊!
3:26 If you live near a store that has a good international foods section, you can get something similar called an Aero bar. The one I want to see come back is the peanut butter Twix in its original form with the shortbread cookie. They’ve brought it back a few times, but it’s always with a chocolate cookie that tastes similar to a ground up Oreo wafer and it’s not as good.
Choco’Lite! I miss it. I’d get them from Hook’s drugstore in the 70’s until they stopped making them. My mom would get a Zero and I’d get the Choco’Lite.
I was surprised that I did not know all that many of ones you had in this video. I do remember the Clark bar, Caravelle and Whatchamacallit bars which I liked. However, since I was a little girl my go to candy bar has always been Snickers which thankfully are still around. Enjoyed this one even if I did not recognize very many!
Some of those old commercials are really funny: for the Almond Cluster ad, “ugly but beautiful” _could_ be interpreted as, “nothing to look at, but hey nice body!” 👙😆 Others make me wonder if I’ve been in a coma. I did not know Whatchamacallit & Thingamajig are no longer sold. 😳
I used to love the Marathon bar in the 70s my dad would give me a pocket full of change at his store I'd buy a soda and a Marathon bar and go to the break room and watch cartoons. That Marathon bar would last me about an hour.
I do miss my Butternut, Milkshake, Whatchamacallit, and Oh Henry bars. Clark, and Zagnut were good on occasion, but I didn't get those very often. In the words of Bob Hope, thanks for the memories. 😁
Really enjoyed the Whatchamacallit. I thiink it was just a quarter. One bar I miss but I don't believe it is discontinued is the Chunky. I have not seen one in years.
I miss the Nestlé Alpine White bar the most!! A white chocolate bar loaded with almonds...heavenly!! Discontinued in the late 80's or early 90's 😢 There's a very 1980's commercial featuring it here on YT ✨️
I was born in 1980, so Whatchamacallit is the only one of these I remember. I could have sworn I saw some of those at the gas station near my parents' house recently, along with one called Whosawhatsit (?) that may or may not be similar to Thingamajig. Next time I'm down there, I will have to check.
I was born in the late 70's, and all of these candy bars, except the "Whatchamacallit", were discontinued before I was even old enough to eat them. That sucks because they looked so delicious, why couldn't I have been born a few years earlier. 😆
So few candies (especially chocolate) are available now and many that are, don't taste the same. I miss Caravelle, zagnut, and also one, I think Brach's had it, a white chocolate bar with a creamy peanut butter filling.
GROWING UP IN THE 50S, I LOVED "ROCKY ROAD", "ALMOND JOY","MOUNDS", "MOUNTAIN BAR", "SNICKERS", "THREE MUSKATEERS", "MILKY WAY" AND "GIRADHELLI FLICKS" !

How about the Willy Wonk Scrunch bar? I was my all-time favorite!
Thank you for these weekly trips down nostalgia avenue🍫🍬🍭 Happy Spooktober👻🎃
The one chocolate bar I miss is the Rally bar. Thanks for a great video!❤️
You're welcome BunkyBinx. Thank you for watching and letting is know about the one you miss.
The spiritual successor to Summit is the Reese’s Sticks.
Thank you for watching mdf3530!
The Toffee Crisp bar was a great candy bar !
Thank you for watching and letting us know which one you liked Jim!
Classic 80’s
Good Morning Rhett ‼️🙋🏽
Good morning Carole! Thank you for watching!
@@RhettyforHistory you're welcome 👍🏽
Oh yum! Summit bars! I ate my weight in those damn things.
Some of those old commercials are really funny: for the Almond Cluster ad, “ugly but beautiful” _could_ be interpreted as, “nothing to look at, but hey nice body!” 👙😆
Others make me wonder if I’ve been in a coma.
Chocolate is a dog-eat-dog world! Thanks, Rhetty!
It sure is. They are constantly trying to do something first over the competition. Thank you for watching my friend.
I wish they would bring back the Reggie Bar .
That one is actually back. It came back in 2023 but it is in limited markets. Try ordering that one online. Thank you for watching!
Wonderful! ☮️💟
Thank you for watching JChow-e1c!
I do miss my Butternut, Milkshake, Whatchamacallit, and Oh Henry bars. Clark, and Zagnut were good on occasion, but I didn't get those very often. In the words of Bob Hope, thanks for the memories. 😁
Peter Paul doesn't call it power house for nothing.... Loved that commercial
That was another big one that used to be around. Thank you for watching and mentioning that one 2012566!
Really enjoyed the Whatchamacallit. I thiink it was just a quarter.
One bar I miss but I don't believe it is discontinued is the Chunky. I have not seen one in years.
I haven't seen the chunky either. Thankfully you can still get the Whatchamacallit if you wanted to. Thank you for watching!
I’d love the house on my block where we always got Chunkys. That lady was the best! 👍😊
I miss the Nestlé Alpine White bar the most!! A white chocolate bar loaded with almonds...heavenly!! Discontinued in the late 80's or early 90's 😢
There's a very 1980's commercial featuring it here on YT ✨️
Hmm, maybe I will have to make my own versions of some of these candy bars.
That would be nice Rachel! Thank you for watching!
I was born in 1980, so Whatchamacallit is the only one of these I remember. I could have sworn I saw some of those at the gas station near my parents' house recently, along with one called Whosawhatsit (?) that may or may not be similar to Thingamajig. Next time I'm down there, I will have to check.
It seems like Peter Paul had some good ideas for candy bars. No wonder Cadbury bought them.
They really did have some good ones! Thank you for watching!
Power House, Clarks and I can't remember but what was the chocolate coved caramel bar that was twisted in a braid? Marathon???
The only one I remember on this list was Summit bars. I think I remember Caravelle. I guess most really didn’t sell that well.
Thank you for watching and sharing what you remember NemeanLion-!
Not a bar but Oompas were amazing. They were like large peanutbutter M&Ms.
I miss BUTTERNUT, for real!😢
Thank you for watching and sharing which one you want back aridian7787!
@@RhettyforHistory : very welcome!🙏🙌🇺🇸
Marathon Bar! Love those! Im happy they haven't discontinued 5th Avenue Bar!
Thank you for watching and sharing what you enjoy David!
This is fascinating. I remember several of those.
My favorite was the Virginia bar
Thank you for watching and sharing your favorite Eisert316!
Whatchamacallit was my favorite! 😋
Thankfully we can still get that one. Thank you for watching cj57!
@RhettyforHistory let's see some Halloween favorites from way back, like wax lips and 'cigarettes' that smoked ☺️ I loved Wacky Packs.
I remember when the No Jelly bar came out. Aways thought that name was weird.
It is a weird one. Did you ever try it? Thank you for watching Brian!
@@RhettyforHistory No, I don't remember having one. But I might have tried it once. So long ago. I enjoy your channel very much.
I remember Penny Candy.
Some stores had a candy counter with over 100 candies to choose from.
GROWING UP IN THE 50S, I LOVED "ROCKY ROAD", "ALMOND JOY","MOUNDS", "MOUNTAIN BAR", "SNICKERS", "THREE MUSKATEERS", "MILKY WAY" AND "GIRADHELLI FLICKS" !
Perfect video for Halloween 🎃 around corner
You're right about that Jessica! Thank you for watching!

Oh I miss Watchamacallits, they were so so good.
Fortunately those are still around. Hopefully they are in your area. Thank you for watching!
The Choco lite bar is now sold as Aero bar, and you can find it at Jungle Jim's in Eastgate in Batavia, OH. It's marketed from Great Britain.
They do have a good one from the UK. Thank you for watching Beth!
