Hi farmer Dean I was wondering if you could do a video on what to wrap your ribs in when putting them in the oven to slow cook instead of putting tin foil around them and we're aluminum foil since it's bad for you
Aluminum foil is not going to be as resistant to heat as an aluminum pan or something that isn't paper thin. The thinner the aluminum foil the worse it is for cooking and you should avoid anything above 500f°(think on a grill or campfire where there might be hot spots and scorch your foil). It starts cracking breaking appart, and burning if you get much hotter than that. Highly acidic foods will eat away at any metal you are cooking with (cast iron, aluminum, yes even stainless). It's safest to eat off cast iron as what gets leached off is mainly just iron and might leave a little bit of metal flavor in your food whereas a good quality stainless pan should leach very little if anything at all.
Ok I really need an answer for this. I don’t have time to cook but I’ll eat healthier if I make my little faux campfire packets. I just make a foil packet and put my favorite meat, potatoes and veggies and spices. Seal it up and throw it in the oven. It always comes out great but now I hear not to use foil. Will parchment paper seal in the heat the same way foil does? If not what do I use instead??
Buy a cast iron pan with a lid. Or a Dutch oven. Or just keep using foil. "High heat" in this case (temperature that aluminum starts to melt) would be 1220°f. Way too hot for your oven. Maybe don't put foil in an actual fire, but yeah. You'll be fine. This guy is a tool, spreading nonsense.
Go look up the melting point of aluminum. There is literally no magic, aluminum doesn’t “break down”… Learn basic chemistry, the only thing that can “break down” aluminum is gallium and if you’re smart enough to own gallium you’re smart enough to understand the elemental properties of aluminum.
Careful with parchment paper..it also degrades in high heat(>350°F) and it transfers nasty chemicals if it does ..I found stainless steel foil, better than both but pricey
Me and my husband are trying to avoid foil. However I am baking a cake in a glass 13x9 and taking to a party. Any suggestions on how to cover this for travel without foil?
Aloy of typos Use a natural parchment paper, light brown colored. Regular parchment paper and aluminum foil leaches chemicals into food. I cook in Pyrex without any paper at all, soak the Pyrex a a day or two, comes clean, and save a lot of money not using Any paper.
"While it is true that some aluminum gets into food when cooked in aluminum foil or with aluminum cookware, and that this is enhanced in acidic foods, it is not true this causes any health effects in healthy adults. Your body absorbs less than 1% of the background aluminum in food or drinking water." I think they do know better my guy.
Do not put aluminum foil loose in the oven or on the bottom - it can melt to your oven. Read your manual. Look for warning on your oven. It ruins ovens. Don't make a costly mistake.

Thats because we were not supposed to cook food the "fancy" way..a simple pan and fire is enough to good literally any food.
No aluminum and non stick pans. Stick to steel.
I use foil to make my hats, is that ok?
I cannot get the necessary manipulation with parchment paper for that.

butcher paper... or mop sauce ever 45 mins with no wrap
You can put the foil around the paper that's already around d the ribs 🤦🏾♂️
Good tip!
Glad it was helpful!
Which degrees Fahrenheit is parchment paper can tolerate?
You are Brilliant!!
not really but common sense yes
I knew this for quite a while now. I tell all my friends about it. Thank you for this informative video!
keep telling😊
High heat does not break down aluminum unless it’s over 1600 degrees.

ok how about with tomatoes and acidic fruit

I love parchment paper. I've been using it for years instead of foil.
I reuse it too.

thanks
I also line my foil with parchment for packs on the grill

All these years! Thank you!

Parchment paper is coated with silicone
Next week come back and tell us that the parchment paper is not good either...🙄

Wait ur saying I can smoke my blues on parchment paper?

This def makes sense. So is it okay to cook my chicken in my hard anodized skillet then or is that EQUALLY unsafe too?
I wouldn't it can still flake off even thought its hardened especially if using metal spatula
Thanks for the tip
You bet
Thanks for the tips Farmer Dean.

I don't even use aluminum foil. I always ask the shopkeeper to pack food either in a steel box which I carry it with myself or in paper packets
smart
Thank you Dean.
What is in the parchment paper.....?
What can I use for a disposable pan a huge baked ziti if not
get a big glass pan
Serious question here, can parchment paper be used on the BBQ grill? I usually wrap my ribs in aluminun foil.
sorry no temp to hot
@@farmerdean Okay, thank you.
Can I use parchment paper to cook ribs on a grill
no
No, the paper would catch fire. Use reusable grill liners. Most can be tossed in the dishwasher when those using them.
But what about foods that are juicy like marinated meat or fish? Is there an alternative for aluminum foil?
put in glass and just cover no really other alternative that i know of

how about stainless steel cooking utensils

roast in covered pan do beer can chicken
