Alex, you are a rockstar! Thank you for your efforts on this one, that was a LOT of restringing! And great explanations, too. I really appreciated learning more about these strings. I have heard them talked about, but didn't really know much about them. The prices don't seem so steep when you figure you are getting 2 sets, so that was good to know. Your string videos are always my go to when I want to know something, so I am really glad you will be making more LOL. Your explanations around the different low g options were very much appreciated...and how none of them are wound. Intriguing, and definitely going on my list of things to try. Thanks again, Alex! :)
On recommendation from a friend, I put the BT-LGs on a ukulele that had lost meaning in why I purchased it in the first place. Those strings brought that instrument to life and it is a favorite now! My other favorites for the best tonal woods I own are Pepe Romero. Great rundown on all the “other” Worth strings. The selection is mind-boggling for sure! Thank you!
Thanks for a lot of good information about strings. As Ukulele beginner it is a totally new world to listen what kind of different strings are existing.
Thanks, Alex! Whenever I get a question about strings, I always point them to your comparisons, they are spot on, and very easy to understand for beginners. Pretty much stickied all the string guides on the discord server XD Much love!
Update; added the low G set of browns to my Fender Montecito and it now sings ~beautifully~. Thanks again for the effort on this one, it was super helpful!
I just replaced Aquila Nylguts with Worth Browns on my Ohana Solid Concert Koa. I am fully blown away! I heard the difference on youtube comparisons, but in person, it is nothing short of staggering! The resonance and sustain are off the chart! I want nothing but Worth Browns on all my solid ukes and will also try on a few of my laminates. But I suspect the Nylguts might hold their own with the laminates. I have tried D’Addario Flourocarbons and while they sound OK, they will be replaced with the Worth Browns.
Thanks Alex for this very informative video. I tried a set of CL strings on my Tanglewood TUJ2 CE concert. They sounded very nice, but I noticed that they became damaged very quickly with fret marks. I will not buy them again. My next trial will be for CM or BM, and eventually CD.
@@UkesWithAlex Thanks for your feedback. The fret wires feel very smooth. The main difference with my other ukes seems to be that the fret wires are ever so slightly more prominent. I bought it second hand and never got a proper setup. So that could it. To be sure, I will try other strings that don't get fret grooves on my other instruments.
I think the CF/BF strings are good for lower tunings on a tenor. They're just right for my Kala 19" scale super tenor tuned E A C# F#. The regular tenor scale strings seem a little too flimsy.
Love the BS. Nice balance between the CT and BT. Not as harsh as the CT and not as mellow as the BT. Nice even sound though the range of notes with good highs without the highs dominating.
Thanks for taking the time to explain this, much appreciated. Please could you tell me which ones came with Flight Diana Tenor I received from SUS this week, I thought Martin fluorocarbon were really good but after playing these Worth Brown strings, they have blown me away with their quality and comfort on the fingers.
Thanks for the thorough video! I'm wondering, if I'm trying to use an unwound low G string on a soprano travel uke that's not specifically designed for low G (looking at the ones from Flight), what would be my best bet? I imagine I'd just want the one with the smallest diameter to make it less likely that I'd need to modify the bridge, right? Do you know which of these Worth types would have the thinnest low G?
I honestly think you are going to be disappointed with any unwound low G string on a Soprano scale Ukulele. A really fat wound string is pretty much all I have found that works.
@@UkesWithAlex Ah good to know, thank you! What ends up happening if you try using one of those low-G soprano/concert sets mentioned in the video? Does it just not sound good? Or issues even getting it on and tuned?
@@UkesWithAlex Thank you for the info! I'm going to do some experimenting with high and low G setups (and likely use the normal high G, assuming these issues are too much to deal with)... but just for the sake of experimentation, which of these strings you reviewed would have the thinnest low G?
I have been asked hundreds of times but I work in excess of full time already and have a young family. If I were to teach in the 2-3 hours I'm at home in the evenings, I would never stop. I considered doing a course people could pay for access but once again, it's just too time consuming. I'm flattered you like the videos though. 👍
Thank so much for this video! It's super helpful! Stupid question.. If I buy strings for tenor, could I possibly use them on a smaller size uke as well? Sorry if obviously not, I don't know enough about the differences. Thanks again!
It depends on the set of strings. on very light strings you can get away with it but I wouldn't on something regular, heavy tension or thicker diameter. Not a stupid question at all...
So forgive me by calling this show up again, but I have a question. What Worth string is the equivalent for tenor or the CL or BL strings, that is a lighter tension tenor string? Thanks!
@@UkesWithAlex I have a tenor Opio that is sounding a bit nasally with light, clear strings on. I was thinking of Worth clears or browns, but I’m afraid about the tension because I have arthritis. Which one would you try first? The C string is a bit muddy sounding, too. Is that why people play Wrapped C strings? Good luck with the move! I’ll give you a week or so and then order some strings. I appreciate your advice.
I have a quick question, Alex. I use the “New” Kala Elite Strings with a Pepe Romero low G on my Kala flame Maple Tenor and absolutely love the sound it gives me. My understanding is they are actually a Worth Brown String. Do you know if this is so and if yes, which ones are they. Thank you for all your great videos. Wes
Hi Wes, I believe they are a Worth brown string too. I imagine based on the gauges I found online that they are Worth BE for the smaller sizes and Worth BT for the Tenor high G set. I could be wrong but the gauges do line up well with what I can see online.
Yes I have. It still sounded clunky to me personally. It was almost too fat for the hole on my machine head so watch out for that on gotoh stealth tuners.
It's "worth" understanding nearly all these sets have the same diameter 2nd and 3rd strings (.26 and .29). The difference between CL, CM, and CT are only in the 1st and 4th string diameter. (CT are longer, obviously).
This is a good point. Also, the hard tension and standard Tension sets have a noticeably different response on an instrument. It took a lot longer for the hard tension sets to stretch in for the demos.

Thank you for your enthusiasm and encouraging words as always!
I think many people don’t realize that every packet has two string changes, thinking them too expensive. Important that you mentioned that.
So many sets are priced similarly to Worth now but for just a single set...
@@UkesWithAlex 🤯 Holy cow!

Just bought 4 sets:
-clears sounds soo big.
-browns warmer and looks badass! especially on dark ebony freatboard :]
this video is really gold. thanks!!!
This is all super helpful! Thanks so much for taking the time to make and share this video!
Great video. Thanks for the info. I’ve been seriously considering these strings for my KoAloha tenor. This was helpful.

Well that’s that cleared up great job Alex
After trying numerous brands of strings, worth are my favorite!
I love the string demos. Have you done a lesson on how to play the tune you use here.
Love the CDs which help a soprano.feel firmer and really sing especially the sopranos closer to 13" rather than 14" scale. Thanke for the video.

I'd love to listen to BL and CL63 strings and a CD for comparison.
Great video! I bought 2 CF sets on sale a couple of years ago and thought they were baritone strings 😅 Would you recommend I use them on my concert?
