      My cats have personality clashes so they fight back by peeing everywhere (!) establishing their territory. (Even moving to a bigger house didn't help!) So that is the biggest challenge. So far I've used Nature's Miracle enzyme cleaner.

      Our hard water stains in the toilet are impossible to get rid of. I've tried vinegar soaks, baking soda, borax, Bar Keeper's Friend, CLR cleaner, bleach, as well as all the commercial toilet bowl cleaners. Would an enzyme cleaner work on that?

      Clean My Space not sure if this is a “stain”...but you can fix water marks or water rings from drinks off wood surfaces by using a white tee shirt and an iron and some steam. Lay down the T-shirt and on the cotton setting you just steam out the water mark. It will get worse before it gets better but then all the sudden it all just disappears. Don’t just let the iron sit there...iron and steam all across the water marked surface get it nice and hot so it penetrates the wood and removes that watermark. Then lift the shirt, see how it’s looking, and if it’s not gone just repeat until it is....slowly needing less and less steam. It’s like magic. I’m serious. Hope I explained that well enough! ✌🏼💜💋

    I’ve dealt with my fair share of stains as I cloth diapered all 3 of my kids. No matter how hopeless the stain seemed, laying it in the sun to dry was ALWAYS the cure! Even when my son ate one too many blueberries and pooped purple for 2 days 😂 Sunlight is a miracle worker

    Enzyme cleaner is a life changer for cleaning my father's toilet. He's old and drips where he shouldn't be. We have tile flooring and grout. The bathroom could be cleaned and yet the urine smell was always lingering. I bought "The Pink Solution" and it helped quite a bit, but it's not perfect, so I also used hydrogen peroxide as a second step. I just bought Zep enzyme cleaner and it's a game changer! The smell is not unpleasant and it's been 3 days and the smell hasn't come back!
    I'll continue to use hydrogen peroxyde in the grout on the super deep cleaning days in combination with Zep enzyme cleaner, but from now on, the enzyme cleaner will be my main outside of the toilet and surrounding floor, walls, and heat register (yep) cleaner. The "Pink Solution " is also good, but I'll reserve it for lighter work.

    I have been using an enzyme cleaner for years! The brand is Kids n Pets. I love it, and my toughest stain has always been doggie urine. I have Chihuahua's and as puppies, their "accidents" were so small you didn't even notice them until you stepped in them, or you saw the yellow stain after the urine dried. But kids n pets works every single time! And believe me, I know all about how enzymes work. I have Chronic Pancreatitis and as a result, the damage to my pancreas has caused it to not make the enzymes I need to break down and digest food. So I have to take enzyme supplements when I eat. I have also been told that any bottle of enzyme cleaners must stay tightly closed in their bottle, that air makes them weaker?

    • @tammysinvisiblelife1119
      @tammysinvisiblelife1119 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use Kids n Pets too. The first time I used an enzyme cleaner for pet stains was when I got a free sample from the Oreck store, and after I tried it I ended up throwing out all my Resolve cleaners. With Resolve and other pet stain cleaners I had to set a timer for exactly 15 minutes or it would discolor my carpet, but with enzymes you can leave them until you're ready to wipe and it doesn't damage anything. I picked up some Kids n Pets at Walmart after I ran out of the sample, and honestly I think it might actually work better than the expensive Oreck stuff. It doesn't smell strong at all and breaks down darker colored stains pretty well.

    My dog was just diagnosed with a very bad Kidney Disease. She is very old and has been having a ton of accidents in the house. Its better since we know now whats wrong with her but we have some older stains that I can't seem to get rid of. I have tried vinegar, bakings soda, certain carpet cleaners that advertised they are the best in dog urines, nothing has fixed the problem. So i have now order the Bac-Out carpert cleaner and I hope when I get it in 2 days that it actually does the trick. Oh heres to hoping!

    With two kids and two cats I’ve seen my share of messes!! Though a few Cat misshaps have been quite messy, my biggest mess had to have been a giant diaper explosion!! It escaped the diaper in every direction. Enzymes did come to the rescue; but the biggest help was that I learned what every new parent should learn: The reason the shoulders of onesies is made with an overlap of material is so that you can easily pull it DOWN to take it off post-disaster!!! That information became GOLDEN on many occasions!!!
    Best of luck with the little one! You two are going to be great parents!

    Would be a tie between Ink and Tuna Water. Both of them got on the same shirt in roughly the same area but years apart. I would argue that a smell that won't come out is still a stain even if it's not a visible one. I got the ink out with Head & Shoulders shampoo, a trick a learned from a printing press operator. After months of trying various things, I finally got the tuna smell out with Listerine. I also was recently able to get dog pee smell out of a blanket with listerine.

    Ink spot on my husband’s dress shirt. Had heard that soaking in a little milk would work and it did!
    Another tip if you use cloth diapers, don’t use laundry detergent with enzymes for cleaning boost which is most of them these days. The residue of the detergent in the fabric will react with urine and cause some nasty diaper rash. Even after a double rinse cycle (always) there is still residue. We had this happen when the detergent we liked was reformulated to work better. Luckily I knew exactly what was going on when I saw that bright pink bottom and pulled out the disposable diapers until we got the detergent issue resolved.

    Cat urine is always the worst! My cat likes to pee on things when he is mad at me for giving more attention to my dogs over him. lol
    I usually always keep a gallon (yes, the gallon! - if you are a cat owner just get the gallon trust me you will use it and be thankful you got the large size when an accident happens after 11pm and all the stores are closed) of the Nature's Miracle Advanced Stain and Odor Eliminator. And just like Melissa says you gotta soak up the "mess" before you use it - otherwise it won't work and you will just be wasting more product later when you have to redo it again!! I also like to use the Nature's Miracle Laundry Boost if messes happen on pet bedding. It also has enzymes in it! :)

      I use this too but the smell of the cleaner is in my opinion so gross and it never leaves until you wash it, and I'm so sick of washing my blanket every couple days cause of my 1 brain cell cat peeing on it all the time. Do you know how to get the smell of it out without having to put the entire blanket in the machine every time?

      One thing I have found that works is a dishwasher detergent tablet dissolved in hot water. Using a scrub brush or a good, sturdy cloth, this should come off relatively easily. If you have a dishwasher, you can put the burners in the dishwasher.

    I just purchased this enzyme cleaner from Whole Foods. Not expensive at all. I used it on my stove which I purposely allowed to get greasy and grimy and yes, it effectively cut through the krud. You do have to allow the solution to remain moist for it to work. And like Melissa said more IS more as was my case. It's scent didn't offend or bother me one bit. I'm a true believer Melissa!!!

    I’ve always kept the stuff around, but we got into a situation with our new house and had to get a big huge jug because… well, we think a walk in closet was being used as a dog kennel… we ripped up the carpet and absolutely SOAKED the subfloor. We believe the smell is gone, at least in there, and we got a black light and nothing shows up on the subfloor!
    Same can’t be said for the human bathrooms 😳😩 I’ve been trying to clean spots I COULD see and it’s messing with the paint that I actually liked, but at this point it’s so gross I’m just going to use the enzyme cleaner and paint later.

    The toughest stain that I have ever dealt with is baby poop stains ! If it happened on my watch, I quickly rinse it under very hot water and use a toothbrush to scrape off any poop particles, then I rinse it and pre-treat it with a stain remover and put it in the washer. If it happened overnight, I soak the clothes in very hot water, remove any debris with a toothbrush then pretreat and wash in the washer. Sometimes I even hand wash soiled onesies so that I won’t allow it to sit for a while...
    My pet peeve though is spit up stains, no matter how fast I clean a spit up off the couch or mattress it always leaves a stain that looks like a watermark😬

  • @Kelli_D.
    @Kelli_D. 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've tried many enzyme type cleaners on pet stains that I had cleaned when it happened with a hand held carpet cleaner (the kind for spot cleaning), after blotting it all up first, only to come out the following day and have a huge stain on the tan carpet, been using everything from store bought to home made, nothing gets it out , when my carpet is damp it looks spotless, as soon as it starts drying the stains are still there .. Since my carpet is tan I've been tempted to just pure straight bleach on it and go over it with my rug scrubber with just water in it! but with my luck I'd have bleached out the Clean parts of the carpet so I'd have now white carpet with big black stains because dirt has soaked into the stains and some are from shoes, muddy paws etc. so it would look worse!
    I started rug scrubbing once a year when I first moved in, I had 1 dog - house trained, then got some cats, wasn't hard to house train them , so no accidents from them, over the years that dog passed and I'd gotten a puppy two actually I wasn't leaving his sister behind (Different story - and it still makes me sad) ... well they'd go outside to potty and come in and potty on my floor! I've lived here for 10 years, the carpet they put in was pre used when they put it in, someone else lived here for 2-3 months before I moved in, so I really have no idea how old the carpet really is. but the stains won't come out, and it's falling apart I have a long line going right down the middle in my living room where the carpet is coming apart at the "seams" but there is no seam there
    Do you have anything that would actually help? other than telling the landlord to rip out the carpet which she won't do

    You have Nature's Miracle. That's another good bio-enzymatic cleaner. There are so many of them selling on Amazon. They're so many that's better than that one. Resolve is not a bio-enzymatic cleaner, but it can clean pet urine stains. Super Sorb, Zorb, and Spill Magic can clean vomit. You have all of that over there. Those sprays can't clean vomit and urine alone. You also have bleach and broad spectrum disinfectants (with the quaternary ammonium), too.

    I need this! I have a boy cat, Riker (🖖) whom pees when he is ticked off. I know, “they” say cats aren’t emotional beings and don’t retaliate when upset....”they” must not have, or have had any, cats. Because they most certainly do. It’s not out of stress, it’s out of not being allowed to do whatever he was doing, or even giving him the food he was not wanting...he likes a brand that is $2 for a small pouch, which has maybe 2 TBSP, should I give him a can of food he promptly yowls and sprays the wall.... I’ve tried vinegar, ammonia, baking soda....whatever I’ve read to get the stench out of carpet (from it dripping down the surface) or fabric furniture. I wind up tossing it if I can. I’m at my wits end. There’s no barn cat society’s around here, or no kill shelters, and being a black cat folks here won’t adopt him. It’s been recommended to me just to have him put down. I’d rather not, but my stress is going nuts over him. My stainless steel refrigerator, stove, and dishwasher have permanent streaks from the urine. I’m about to go crazy. He’s about to meet his fate as a redshirt.....Trekkies will get that reference. 😂 😂

    • @janethagaman394
      @janethagaman394 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds like he needs to be neutered if he's spraying on the walls. There are many low costs spay & neuter clinics and it would be worth it to get rid of his peeing and spraying. Cat smell is the worst! But then you're used to it, where as other people can smell it the minute they walk through the door. And if you own your home good luck selling. It can even soak into the walls and concrete under carpet. What he is spraying is not pee, he is marking his territory with a secretion that is different, like anal glands. Good Luck.

    • @MiaHessMusic

      I'm wondering if this boy kitty is intact? I'd get him nuetered, have him checked for a UTI and kidney problems, and provide more litter boxes. It can help and sometimes solved. The other thing is a prodcut called Feliaway, and you put it in a special defuser that olugs in the wall. I'd put those on every floor of your house. He could also need to be on an anti-anxiety drug, like Prozac for kitties. Try and find a behavioural vet; they are hard to find and they ain'at cheap but I've known people who have dogs and cats with this kind of issues who can be helped. Just some thoughts. It's tough stuff to deal with. I think you should definitely try Melissa's suggestions for enzyme cleaners and yes, you can get them in bulk as someone esle suggested. I hope this helps you, Ane.

    • @tammysinvisiblelife1119
      @tammysinvisiblelife1119 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We used to have a male cat with behavioral issues too. If anything happened that he didn't like he would find something to pee on. One time he got so upset he even peed on me. Honestly, the best thing we found for him was to let him spend as much time outside as possible to let him burn off some energy. I always brought him inside at night though to be safe, and at first we even had to isolate him in a room by himself so he wouldn't attack our other cat. I don't know if either of those are an option for you, but if you can try feeding him outside or in another room besides the kitchen (maybe the bathroom or laundry room?) it could minimize the mess until you figure out how to help him calm down. If he hasn't been neutered he definitely needs that, but be aware it could still take a lot of time and work afterwards to get him to stop completely. A vet's opinion might also help you. We didn't have much luck with Feliway, but I know it works on a lot of cats so it's worth trying. We also tried a medication from the vet, but all it did was knock him out for a few hours and he would just wake up wild as ever afterwards. I think it just depends on the cat. For us it was a lot of trial and error. Sometimes he needed lots of petting and attention, and other times he just needed to be wild and free outside. There were times he drove me crazy, but like you I knew he couldn't go to a shelter or he would be euthanized after no one would adopt him due to his issues. He ended up being a really sweet and loyal cat after years of our care, but unfortunately died last year due to a blood clot. It really tore me up when Rocky died, which just goes to show how much things can change. Sometimes the craziest cats have the biggest hearts. Another thing that might help you is to find what motivates him. I taught Rocky not to bite or scratch at my ankles by ignoring him and even going in another room with the door closed if he did it. Since Rocky loved attention and petting he learned not to do it pretty quickly. It sounds like Riker might be food motivated, so maybe you could come up with some kind of training involving treats. The cat we have now really likes the chicken stuffed Temptations in the yellow bag and will literally do anything when I get the bag out. Positive reinforcement doesn't always work on cats, but if they're extremely food motivated you can train them similar to how you would train a dog.

      He’s fixed, has been since he was 5 months old....my vet won’t do it to kittens or puppies younger due to an increase in bladder issues when they are older..., he’ll be 4 in April.
      I’m in a rural area, and he goes outside as he pleases, via a cat door. He spends 90% if the day asleep in my boat, only coming in when it’s cold out or raining. He’s a sweet cat, and loves to cuddle. It’s just that attitude he can have with the spraying that is what makes him difficult. He’s not a fighter. I have a female cat, Jadzia, about a year younger than him that he cuddles with, and bathes on occasion. No issues between them. He has a sister, Jo Lupo, only two cats in the mother’s litter, she is an outside cat by choice. She comes in at night for about 4 hrs, then promptly leaves right before sunrise. They rarely pass each other in a day. She’s a loner, doesn’t like company....much like myself 😂.
      If he were cooped up with them I’d understand issues, but like I said, Riker is rarely inside, mostly asleep in the boat in front driveway, Jo stays in the woods near a creek, and Jadzia is always with me or goes outside to sleep on the roof of a shed, hanging out on the stoop under the cat door, or just a quick dart outside to use the bathroom.
      I seriously wanting to just convert him to an outside cat when it warms up a bit....I’m in SC and it’s been kinda nippy this winter, well, for southern standards. I have a large (14’w x20’L x 12’h) semi enclosed(2 short walls are open) carport in the backyard that used primarily as a storage shed for rakes, and such, and a shelter for a free standing porch swing, where he sleeps if it’s raining, or if he doesn’t want to come in.
      My cats are vetted, and well kept, so it won’t be that he’s feral. I’m looking at various cat coop plans for him. That way he’ll have a secure cat house, and an actual spot to use to get out of the rain. The house cat door is by SureFlap, and can only be used with a special tag or microchip. I want to put one on the cat coop that way other animals, or “riffraff” as I call them wont be able to come into it.

      @tammysinvisiblelife1119 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The cat coop sounds like a good idea. If you feed him there he probably won't spray because he knows it's his house, not yours lol. Since he likes to cuddle you might be able to teach him that he only gets to stay inside with you if he's a good boy. The second he pees on something he's out the door, even if it's dinner time. He's still pretty young at 4, but maybe in a few years he'll calm down more. You might also be able to find a heated pet bed for him so you won't have to worry about him getting too cold in the winter. We got one for Rocky that fit in a small doghouse, so we set that up for him on the porch so he could have more outside time when it was cold. Good luck to you and Riker. Hope you find something that makes you both happy.

    We lived in a rental with pure white carpet…😬 Somehow and no one knows how, a full blue ink pen was broken under a side table and it was there a loooong time since it was in the corner. I used some kind of enzyme cleaner that was available in out local Mexican market. I followed the instructions with a little help with a dictionary and absolutely all of the ink came out of the white carpet! To this very day I could kick myself for throwing away the bottle. That stuff was amazing! That was probably about 35 years ago. If anybody happens to know what kind of enzyme cleaner was available in the Mexican market 35 years ago please let me know. I’m pretty sure the liquid was either clear or a very very light yellow. I think the bottle was clear with either blue or black and blue printing.

    So if I spray this on carpeting, will it leave a residue behind? For example, you purchase a carpet cleaner like, “resolve” for spot cleaning on rugs. Even if you follow the directions, those so called cleaned spots have always attracted dirt because of the residue left behind. It ends up looking like the stain keeps occurring. So I’ve always cleaned urine off the carpet with alcohol. It cleans, disinfects and dries quickly. I got that tip from our vet. Of course, it goes without saying, you must spot test first.

    Not me, but it's a long-running joke in our family that my mother can get out ANY stain on anything, ever. One time (this is probably 30 years ago now), my brother was staining a board outside, in his khakis (don't ask...). Yes, he got STAIN on his khakis. My mother got it out! From then on, she could never claim "I don't know if I can get that out..." "Mom - you literally got STAIN out of something...something designed to actually STAIN." I think her secret back then was just a bit of whatever shampoo we had in the shower and a lot of elbow grease. As an adult, I have NEVER gotten the same results as she did, so I'm excited to try enzyme cleaners now so I can be as successful as my mom in stain removal! Thanks for the great video!

    Hi Melissa- I have an amazing compact German convection/microwave oven that handles 80% of our 2 person household's cooking. It heats up super fast and cooks evenly always. But their miracle stainless steel interior has millions of inward facing dimples needed to "bounce" the microwaves around evenly. Those dimple get clogged up fast with sugars/sauces/splashes them get baked on fast. They manufacturer doesn't recommend abrasives or acid formulas as there is a coating on the steel to is supposed to prevent build up. Do you think an enzyme based product might be a solution? (tried vinegar and water steam baths, baking soda etc)

    I had a guest who suddenly had to stay at my house over the summer. She had to put her male, un-neutered cat up for adoption. She brought a bag of clothes that smelled like a litter box or something and left it in my closet by my front door of a one-bedroom apt. The smell remained. It got into my clothes and floors. I washed a few items and cleaned the floor and some of the walls to no avail. Will an enzyme cleaner hurt fabrics if i spray on my clothes and will it help to remove stench?

    If Paisley is giving you a hard time about her medication, the vet can give her an antibiotic injection that will last about two weeks. No need to pill her every day. When I have to pill my cats though, I coat that sucker in butter and they often lick it right off my finger.

    I sleep on the couch because I'm broke.
    Every few nights I fluff the duvets I use as a makeshift mattress of sorts and re-fluff/reset the pillows and blanket as they get caught in the couch.
    It's been a few days since I did that last... but tonight when I did that there was a squishy wet thing, omg I'm gonna puke.
    It was a dead mouse that was decaying between my blankets that had got tucked down into the couch from sleeping on it. There's dead mouse juice on my duvets, blanket and couch.
    The blame is on my wild cat, no doubt, but I digress.
    I used kleenex to take the body outside and it went straight into the dumpster. What can I use on my sheets and duvets and the couch to get this awful stench out? What is the best cleaner to disinfect everything?
    Omgoodness i could puke right now.. I used a sponge and some enzymatic cleaner on the couch and resolve spot cleaner on the duvets till I can get to my neighbour's tomorrow to use her washing machine. I'll wash my blanket with bleach because I don't care about losing colour, just want to cover everything in bleach and set my apt on fire before I walk away from it all.
    I won't do the latter, it's just what my gut is telling me, so clearly I was wrong - my gut is not always right.
    Please advise me on anything you can here. I've never found a decaying animal carcass before and the fact that I've been sleeping on it.. 🤢🤮
    Please help me

    I make my own enzyme cleaner for years now using fruit waste, brown sugar and water in 5 gallon buckets. Now I stick to fruit waste only but for ratio Google imagines "Garbage Enzymes". There are images of recipes/ratio to use. I use my baseball bat to stir it like a calderon. It works so well! Plus over the years I can't tell you how much money I have saved switching to this enzyme cleaner our household calls "E" and using bulk wash clothes. At the end of the day I wash our "cleaning cloths" and call it a day. I probably buy new cloths every 4 to 6 months. We don't buy paper towels anymore.

      Blue Rose what do you do with your fruit waste to make your Enzyme cleaner? What is your fruit of choice that works best for you?

    • @bluerose6859
      @bluerose6859 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Melissa Schaub I use any fruit core, peel anything..... Even the ones that I forgot about and it got moldy. Nothing goes to waste. My household eats allot of oranges, apples, limes, papayas, pineapples and bananas. So that is the majority of the fruit I use. I made it for so long I never measure anymore. I just fill a 5 gallon bucket half way with water. Add maybe around 4 c. Brown sugar (the sugar feeds the enzymes) and I keep filling the bucket with fruit waste until I feel I have enough. Cover with bucket lid. Open weekly to stir this also allows the lid to "burp". If it gets stink..... sometimes just as stink as a sewer.... you add 1 or 2 c. Brown sugar. Stir. It will fix on its own. Don't even stress it. So once I feel it's enough I stop adding to it and start the 3 month ferment process stiring once a week. Meanwhile start another bucket. Mark my calender so I know when to process enzymes liquid. To process I use a old pillowcase that I use only for this purpose. Put pillowcase in empty bucket using pillowcase like trash bag. Using strainer to mainly scoop out fruit pulp to pillowcase. Then squeeze like you would cheesecloth. Throw away fruit pulp (it helps with smell in trash). I rinse pillowcase clean and filter liquid. I fill 1 gallon water jugs and 1 gallon vinegar jugs that I recycled for this. I burp them once a week. Sounds like alot of work but it is not. Processing takes me about 20-30 minutes every 3 months. Storing buckets and burping 1 gallon bottles weekly take only a couple minutes to do. This liquid is a concentrate. I fill a spray bottle 1/4 - 2/3 way filled at most 1/2 way filled and the rest with water.... use this for counters bathroom whatever. I add about 1-2 c. to a bucket of water to mop the house. We use a tiny spray bottle as a mister in the bathroom everytime someone does #2. I sometimes add essential oils like lavender to that. We love it! We used this and have never stopped. Oh btw... there is 2 nasty dumpster right out front of my front door. My neighbors thank me when I scatter the fruit pulp throughout the 2 dumpsters. Really helps cut down the smell. Im planning to buy one of the gallon pressure pump sprayers to help spray the dumpster area. The neighbors asked me if I would do that. I told them if I do this they need to help me with clean fruit waste (no meat or oil on fruits) and brown sugar. Some other uses.... I fill my sink with cool water and 1 c. of this "E" liquid and unplug it and it acts like a deodorizer and eats up stink grease. Good diluted on plants. Watch videos on TH-cam about "garbage enzymes". Be patient and completely open minded. This has changed my family. Safe around pets, babies. I heard it was safe around sick people. My friend had cancer and asked if she could have 2 gallons. I gave it to her. Her cancer is in remission and she now makes her own to clean the house. Better to avoid all those chemicals. Sorry for making this so long. But there is so much info and good stuff to share with people about Enzymes! Hope this helps someone! 😉🖒

I picked up as much as possible, blotted it as much as I could, sprayed with a solution of warm water, hydrogen peroxide and a little bit of dawn dishwashing liquid, let that sit for about 10 minutes, blotted it again, repeated that about 4 times and left it to dry. The carpet looked cleaner there than the rest of the room.

    I poored a pile of Baking Soda and the same with scent in it from Arm & Hammer. Then I put a pile of paper kitchen towels on that & newspaper on THAT. When the top turned yellow I knew I had NOT soaked up enough when I first started to clean the area if this happened to fast.
    Leave it and the baking soda and Arm & Hammer carpet cleaner will pull the whole thing out of the carpet.
