Hans Zimmer and Zack Snyder are so underrated .People even thrash-talk them. Zack is you like or not a visual genius . The man knows his craft but it's up to WB to pack the movie . It's up to them to see what goes on the big screen and what not . They're the shot callers but people take it out on Zack , quite shameful. Hans on the other hand is one of the greatest movie composers of all time . He's such a genius it's quite mind-blowing. 2:35 just to be able to hear that when majority of us would be appaled and to create such a Superman hymn in few notes .Wow just wow.
Wow, the pedal steel is one of the most complex string instruments out there. SO many textures and possibilities. Only Zimmer would have thought of a Pedal Steel section!
He is so god damn creative. I hope his man of steel score is nominated and I hope he wins an Oscar. The man of sound track is so much fun to listen to. Dare I say it's better than the movie itself.
Zack Snyder and Hans Zimmer spent a lot of effort diving into Superman's Americana roots. Too bad the bloggers didn't care and only want Man of Smiles.
This is what I live for. Playing cinematic orchestral arrangements. Gavin Harrison also mention this. I play to this kind of backing tracks, to keep me in tune. Love it.
Imagine a movie composed by Hans Zimmer, John Williams, Harry-Greyson Williams, Henry Jackman and Alan Menken. I think it will be the end of the world.
Not to kill your fantasy, but ever hear the phrase "too many cooks in the kitchen"? A movie score is best done by 1 or 2 composers, at most 3, or else the whole thing would be a tonal mess.
btw, notes don't have rights, however the instruments, virtual instrument lib, and OST have digit right in individual use and commercial use. The instruments he has are legit since he bought them, he paid the fee to use and record. Also, he owns the right to the notes he recorded since he used his own instruments and people he hired to crate and record those notes, so totally, what he does is legit, what he has is legit.
Dude, you are wrong, no matter Hans sells the electronic instruments lib or not, it is his own business and it is totally legit. If you know EASTWEST( the company made StormDrum 1,2,3, Quantum leap orchestra, and other electronic music lib), you will know how it works. Basically, they have professional recording studios and devices and huge sets of instruments, Their music libs are huge, professional and at high quality. It provides musicians to create music more efficiently.
and why Hans Zimmer create his own music lib is because he has thos conditions(instruments, studio, devices, musicians), and his music has to be totally legit, with all commercial license and open to public. Therefore, if he uses his own instrument lib, he has his own commercial license and copy right, then he won't have to discuss and negotiate the commercial license(and the price) of the use of instrument lib made by other individual or company.
How long does he get to write a soundtrack like this? Must be extremely difficult to experiment like that with the amount of time I hear most composers are given.
Hans is an exception in the movie industry, as he seems to get all the time in the world he needs. For example, he worked on Interstellar for close to 2 years. Most composers usually get 4-6 weeks in post production to work on their scores. This is probably the reason he's the most unique sounding composer out there, since he has so much time to perfect whatever score he's currently working on. So yes, Hans is always given a ton of time on his movies.
I like Zimmer and his atmospherics, but I'm glad Justice League brought in Elfman to give Batman back an actual theme complete with lush orchestration. Zimmer's not good with complex string arrangements or melody (he's essentially a synth player), and in big movies, sometimes you want the maestros and their gorgeous (and unlike Zimmers stuff-really hard to play) layers of symphonic beauty. Williams, Goldsmith, Elfman, Shore, Barry etc - real masters of their craft. The Vangelis score for Blade Runner was a far greater body of work than Zimmers atmospherics on Blade Runner 2049, but his work, however simplistic, still gave me a chill. Interstellar was disappointing as he just ripped off Philip Glass.
Tokiofritz you're words are from criticism talkess of being constructive... I have heard all sorts of sound tracks but none have Ever inspired me like Hans dimmers.. I love his work and it has really changed me and my career paths... So if you don't like him that's fine... But no one compares to him for me
That's no bad thing. If his music gets that emotion from you, nobody can take that away. Btw, I like Zimmer (see comment), I just don't see him on the same level as others.
I like it how Snyder and Zimmer talk about the stuff they wanted to achieve and how they did the exact opposite. 'Wanted it to be different from Dark Knight' - RATATATATATAAT BWWAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHMMM 'It should be optimistic' oh yeah, that endless droning really gives me feels
I just made a recreation of a Man of Steel track, if anyone wants to here it check it out on my channel. I tried my best to get to sound like the original with a little bit of my touch on it, but only having 4GBs of RAM and having a lot of tracks don't really go well together so that was a hindrance on the process, but I worked my way around it and did what I could do, I hope you check it out and enjoy it.
94ejack Go explore the world outside America and you'll realise that America is no longer the shining beacon of righteousness and progress it once was. It's now a country run by morally bankrupt politicians who have forgotten the glory of the post-war era.
"I'm building a library of single notes. I put them into my computer so I can start playing them on the keyboard." ...and then use them and sell them in various ways. It's a very European colonialist idea coming from this one-hit-wonder, which I have to wonder where this 'musical genius' got. Did he ask for a DNA sample which he can also sell? Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe he doesn't now own the rights to those 'notes' he bought. I'd be surprised.
hans zimmer makes really basic, stripped down simplistic music. there's no tremendous amount of orchestration or composing going on, just good sonic spread and LAYERING. lots of it. NOT as genius as some people think.
2:40 gave me goosebumps 😭😃 I love Hans Zimmer's music!
Hans is such a legend
The Man of Steel soundtrack is so powerful, I love it
Me too! Every time I listen to it, I feel like I can do anything.
ShieldsJustice Ikr! I listen to it every time i train

This soundtrack is the musical representation of hope, positivity and freedom.
"From a C - G, quite lazily!" -Loved that...
+David Frank Joel Same!
I love seeing "behind the movie" score videos. I would watch 2+ hours of the making of each score from every movie if they showed it.
This was a fantastic soundtrack to a great movie.
hans is the best composer in the world is awesome
I could not agree more!
No.

What an absolute EPIC score the Man of Steel score is. One of Zimmer's best, IMO.
hans has a library like no other...
Michael Khan Buddha had 4 noble truths. If he could accommodate a 5th, this would be it.
Zimmer can lit up even an ordinary scene with his music.
man of steel soundstrack is so fucking amazing and beautiful
my favorite song is flight soundtrack

Hans Zimmer = Pure Genius
Zimmer is a true living legend.
0:56 I like this insight.
Im in love with that american steel guitar. It elevated the soundtrack to a whole new level.
He is so god damn creative. I hope his man of steel score is nominated and I hope he wins an Oscar. The man of sound track is so much fun to listen to. Dare I say it's better than the movie itself.

this lazy c to g is awesome!!
Brilliant as always. Just amazing stuff. Never would have thought of a pedal steel score that becomes nearly unrecognizable as a pedal steel guitar.
Hans, while movies will sometimes suck your music is constantly awesome.
This is what I live for. Playing cinematic orchestral arrangements. Gavin Harrison also mention this. I play to this kind of backing tracks, to keep me in tune. Love it.
Hans Zimmer is a modern musical genius in my humble opinion.
A GENIUS
Hans Zimmer is a genius. We're lucky to inhabit the same world as him.
I love him I love him I love him!!
Me too.
I love you, Hans Zimmer!
That's so cool.
Imagine a movie composed by Hans Zimmer, John Williams, Harry-Greyson Williams, Henry Jackman and Alan Menken. I think it will be the end of the world.
***** Not to mention, Danny Elfman.
And Howard Shore ...
+King Théoden Yes! Howard Shore and Alexandre Desplat too oh jesus its too much
Not to kill your fantasy, but ever hear the phrase "too many cooks in the kitchen"? A movie score is best done by 1 or 2 composers, at most 3, or else the whole thing would be a tonal mess.

Hans Zimmer is a God.
Just awesome!
Yea man same here. Its really fascinating stuff.
Zimmer is the greatest now! To me!
he is superb..!!
These videos are great
If think of him as a genius try James Newton Howard, Howard Shore or John Williams....these guys will blow your mind entirely
Zimmer, Williams, Shore
That's an interesting use of pedal steels.
Awesome!!!
Cool 👍😎
Hey Spencer. I agree.
Totally seconded!
You are best
Imagine Lord of the Rings. 6+ hours of Howard Shore. I'd pay for that.

that steel guitar is just so american

+JFrame Most composers are not Hans Zimmer!

Hans get more time because he uses computer so he could continually work on it as the movie changes

Sorry, I forget a lot of Zimmer fans suffer from being highly sensitive when it comes to constructive criticism.

What the hell are two Peavey Guitar Amps doing here in this session? That brand has gone to hell in a handbasket. Geez....
Very Special. what can be played on a Pedal steel
After watch this video, I hate even more what Danny Elfman did with Justice League. God, what is wrong with this guy and Warner?

Reminds me of "Ed, Edd, n Eddy."
Why?
+Minoru Mineta Does this remind you that cartoon in any way?
Could you link a video about what you mean?
Yep, it's true. And the good thing is: Nolan's not involved in that one, so we could finally get a good Zimmer score again
Why did Hans Zimmer say that about America?
Because he's right!
Ijaz Iqbal How?
94ejack Go explore the world outside America and you'll realise that America is no longer the shining beacon of righteousness and progress it once was. It's now a country run by morally bankrupt politicians who have forgotten the glory of the post-war era.
Arjun Menon When was it a beacon of righteousness?
Before Vietnam. One could make an argument for World War II no?
Have some dignity please sir. He's just a man like everyone else.
