Bentleys are reliable cars actually. Sorry your dad picked up a bad spec. Do more research before buying, some ppl don't take care of their cars amd sell them off that way!
Oh boy your mental is all off here. That's not entirely true. It all depends on how the car is cared for. The saying is take care of your car it'll take care of you. Secondly I understand that you may be a little hateful on them having a RR and you don't OR you just haven't done your research. Let's just say both. BMW is the owner, that's it. A Rolls Royce is a RR, that's it. Their car was handbuilt, a BMW isn't. End of story.
I'm still driving my '01 X5 3.0I to work 5 days a week. After owning it for 23 years, and having owned over 100 cars, it is WITHOUT QUESTION, the absolute most reliable out of the entire bunch. Simple to self-maintain, it has never broken down and was in a repair shop only once for the 100,000 mile service because I was recovering from heart surgery. This is one of six BMWs I've owned; all were exceedingly reliable. The unreliable beemers are ones that haven't been maintained. Period.
This problem with the foot well filling up with water was a typical problem in Atlanta in mainly the VW Passats, Jettas, Golfs, and Beetles. I was IT consultant for a dealer so I witnessed it myself. Reason; in April when the pollen is horrendous, it would clog up the drains from the sunroof to each hinge region of the front doors. When that would happen, the water would overflow and ruin the interior. So this tells me Rolls Royce is definitely not worth the money. And no, I cannot afford one!
I have a Jag XK convertible that also had water spill into the passenger footwell. That problem was an old drain with a duckbill end on a tube that stuck closed. A simple fix but a $2,000.00 repair. Crappy design that was known, (recall issued), yet continued for several model years. So ridiculous.

This reminds me of my diesel Volkswagen. It’s in the shop every year. Just avoid any vehicle from Europe period. They’re fancy but garbage at the same time. I’m transitioning to Japanese cars and american trucks.
I made the mistake of buying a 2004 Mercedes Benz E500 4matic with a V8, and it took me about two months or so for the issues to start. The fuel pump and battery went, along with a crank or camshaft position sensor going bad on me. I fixed all that for about $1500, then I got the car back, the mechanic messed up the car, he broke the gas gauge, the speedometer wasn't working right, the ABS, brake, traction control and check engine light were on and the car was in limp mode after I drove it away. The issue kept coming and going. Then it got to the point I couldn't drive it anymore, I sent it back to the same guy who said it seems like it's the ABS module, and after awhile he said he can't find the part in the U.S., and it's not made anymore and a used part won't be compatible with my car. Both times I sent it to him, he said it's old, so many issues known or unknown and could or could not happen, I should just sell the car to him. I did a review mentioning the issue but the guy did ok, not his fault and he made me change it, he only has all 5 stars. I was going to have the loan company take it, but he told them it was running fine. I picked it up and it was fine, just needed a jump. I was going to keep it until it kept dying overnight, so I got tired of it and left it at the loan company to sell and to hell with them. I really should have passed on that car, but I wanted to take the cheap and easy way out at the time, I needed a car then. Morale here is to not buy an old used foreign car with high mileage without a warranty that you pick apart first or better still, stay away unless you have a ton of money to blow.
