For those who don't realize yet: developers these days release games BEFORE they are at the point where they should be released. They will tell that is because they get "community feedback" in order to "improve the game" but the reality is that it allows to cash earlier. Today, it's all about hypes and being faster than the competition. Quality, well, that has been set on the lower priorities. ACC is a nice example of that. The "community feedback" however is necessary, but it shouldn't be used to improve the basics of the game, it should be used to improve the details. You all figure out what is what, but you can tell the first is going on if a game changes in a big way, at the early phase of market release. I'm not talking about adding tracks or cars, that is something else.

Good points. One thing ACC desperately needs to improve on is VR performance. Not only does the game look extremely blurry and/or pixelated compared to other sims in VR, but the performance when driving on your own can be hit and miss, while racing with AI tanks the framerate completely. It is somewhat playable if you can live with that, and I so wish that Kunos gave the VR version more optimization. ACC feels speedy and looks clear on a 4K flatscreen but VR is so much more immersive. AMS2 and rFactor 2 do a much better job with it than ACC and that's sad.

Hi! First, a fine recap of ACC development. I've had ACC since february, when it just hit version 1.3 and was allready in a pretty good shape overall.
When you're talking about car behaviour when driving across anti-cut (around 27:10), I belive that behaviour simulates the splitter hitting the high sausage curb, which bounces the car, hence such an abrupt reaction (no rubber involved there :). However, I totally agree with the notion that ACC would benefit from a more rubbery feel, as you describe it.
Recently, I went out and tried some other sims (rF2, R3E, AC, AMS2), but the general polish of several game aspects made me come back to ACC.

Hmm, I bought ACC a few months ago, shortly after that big update IIRC, and... I don’t know. Granted, my admittedly old rig can’t handle it full bore (I can only practice alone), and overall, driving the cars feels decent, but I have come across situations where I have encountered the classic “iceRacing syndrome”, where once I lose grip on asphault, it’s an endless slide all the way into the grass - and no amount of laying off the pedals or trying to course correct will save you (EDIT: I was still listening to this video as I typed, and just as I hit Submit, you mentioned this at the 21 minute mark, haha).
My other big gripe (not so much KS’ fault) is that you CANNOT run triple screen without enabling nVidia Surround (or Eyefinity if you have a Radeon). Surround is a buggy mess, andI just don’t like the ill effects of those bugs. Thankfully, rFactor and iRacing hace easy workarounds for running triple without having to enable it, so it’s disappointing that the Inreal engine cannot support “borderless windows” to work with a multi-monitor desktop managed by Windows. Hopefully, this is something that they can work out with Epic to see if it can be addressed.
But, as you say, Kunos appears to be in it for the long haul, so I’m willing to give it a go every once in a while when major updates are released - and hopefully, I will also have better equipment later this year to enjoy it at full bore.

After 20 minutes of glorifying the game you got to the point. I guess they plan a 2.0 release and with most of the content taking over, the best feature they could implement are better physics and the single player campaign has lots to be desired as well. You should also check out Raceroom, since it's IMO as good or better than rF2 since their physics-update, even with it's empirical tyre-model. If you don't feel it, check you FFB. The vertical load should be your dominant force and i'm running it on 135% with the rest below 50 or off.

Thanks for the follow up, Ermin. I truly appreciate the excellent videos that you continue to produce.
ACC has developed its tyre model and car behaviour over time, which has improved the play-ability of the sim. In my opinion, FFB is different ... it should simply relay lateral forces under braking and cornering consistently and realistically. The player should be able to detect understeer, loss of traction, wheel lock-ups, et cetera in an understandable manner. I prefer to turn off road effects (fake FFB) and set up a very light FFB in order to detect the physics details; which, for me, ACC does better than anybody else. I am not as much a fan of AMS2 FFB, even though the effects are outstanding. By the way, I play on a 10 year-old, but still excellent, Fanatec CSR wheel CSR Elite pedals (with load cell brake).

Interesting comment about braking, beta 2 felt amazing (on the brakes) and was actually why I bought ACC after trying a friends copy, but then it was gone in subsequent releases. Overall I feel the complete opposite though, Kunos titles have always had that 'feel' for me of what the car was doing, nKPro had it as did AC. ACC has a slight disconnect, it's AC with a condom, but when I play rF2 I can spin with no warning through the wheel. My reason for not playing ACC is that I find GT3 boring, hopefully their next title is a successor to AC with the features they've added to ACC.

Completely agree about the tire model, it feels kind of soapy and slippery, requiring you to under-drive and never really feeling like you're hooking up a turn or completely grabbing the track with sticky rubber; generally the feeling is most pronounced mid-corner and corner exit.
It's not too bad, however, and ACC is still a great sim, but it's also pretty weak on content and game structure. All the game modes are incredibly shallow, and I tend to get bored with the limited content pretty quickly.

FFB is very subjective and probably you had some settings, which were not suitable to transport the FFB through the T500RS. I was back then on a CSW 2.5 and it was pretty dope right from the beginning with just the Lambo and Nürburgring available. Maybe just check how you setup your FFB. I for example find it way easier to setup FFB in ACC rather then getting the same realism in AMS2. But that's subjective probably and maybe you like to mix in some canned effects. I like the natural feel of ACC more. Not to talk about all the higher quality of laser scanned tracks, sound design and so on. And to be just honest: rF2 is for sure very good in terms of FFB, but the rest is just aweful to use and just a pain in the ass concerning game crashes, gigantic loading times etc. ...

Coming from AC to ACC was actually quite a challenge using the same FFB settings. I think Kunos tried to remedy the excess clipping in belt driven consumer wheels, that was really an issue in AC, by toning down the ffb strength overall in ACC. I normally used 70% ffb strength on AC and would still get clipping on the high g corners. After struggling with ACC for a bit, I copied Nil Naujoks settings which felt much better right away. I max the wheels FFB strength then reduce in-game gain to 80% for the csw v2.5. The ferrari, which usually felt skittish, came alive for me. It even got better when I changed to a formula rim that was 1kg lighter than my uni hub setup.

  • @WesleyXXIII

ACC is a videogame, so is cool if you drive like this, to enjoy it, as race pace, with no stress, no pressures.
Problems starts when you do esport, when you need to find the limits of the cars, when you go 3 seconds faster in public and competitive lobbys. Car's pitch is to sensitive (said some real gt drivers like Nikki Thim), tires has no vertical grip at all.
Gt3 cars are down-powered from the stock cars, with race chassis, brakes, tires, suspensions and bodywork, and you can't do one lap without abs and tc without killing yourself and your tires. That's enough to resume this game.
I forgot the graphic optimization, suck.

Now i dont claim to know anywhere near as much as him about GT cars but i have driven RT 2000 touring cars here in Ireland and to me AMS2 has nailed some aspects of physics and ffb, obviously needs work but its well on the way.I have huge respect for Dave Perel , i love his onboard videos and live streams but his opinion on AMS2 if genuine is deeply flawed.Dont get me wrong i enjoy ACC a hell of a lot but its physics and ffb are not quite up to the standards of RF2 and AMS2.How lucky are we to have such a rich vein of sims to chose from these days. Why the thumbs down guys? When compared to RF2 I still have no idea how they make the FFB so good even on a cheap setup. Under braking it actually puts strain on the wheel to indicate if the car is swaying too much. It's so predictable. I find it's much easier to toss the car around and play with the overall limit of the tires too...which is as it should be IMO.

Thanks for the tip. I have a hard time with the FFB in ACC and basically any game other than iRacing. Can you give me a tip for the in game settings for ACC and also if you have any settings for rf2 that would be cool.
