"Punk is gassed! Again!"
Punk sells, and too many aren't used to seeing someone who not only can, but does.
Nah dude, that was legit gassed.
@@chrisx994 Nope. Y’all are just used to seeing guys not sell.
Except for finishers...no one sells those anymore lol
@@chrisx994 Oh, cupcake… Are you so confused that you’re convinced you’re psychic now? Bless your heart.
He was gassed to be honest, but we can compare it too Cena in the PG era, was Cena putting off great 5 star matches during this time? Naah dint need to because he would sell. Circling back to Punk, his probably the second or third most over dude in Wrestling period , yeah his gassed but he is still great with in ring pacing and phycology and more importantly he sells
Thank goodness Tony “feared for his life”
Literally, the best thing Tony has ever done for the wrestling business is get Punk back to WWE. 😂
Does the cult ever find new jokes to use?

What is happening because this is definitely Suraj and Micky on the thumbnail lol. Is this an ai generated thumbnail?
Punk has a bit of bret hart in his matches, he looks exhausted and wrecked like hes been in a fight, i love it!!!
He also has that '97 Bret Hart in his promos where you're not exactly sure where the work ends and the shoot begins. What an all-round great performer.
@@james2651he’s so good cuz even when it seems like he’s shooting he always brings it back to the storyline at hand
Thats not channeling bret. He is just wrecked and exhausted.
@@chrisx994 who cares about his conditioning when he's delivering good matches?
Might help if anyone, including punk, sold finishers anymore lol
CM Punk was wearing the infamous black sweater with the triple X on the back, the one he used to humiliate and destroyed Jack Perry backstage. He looked into the camera as if saying "Hey Tony Clown, I'm still here, crowd adores me! How's Jack? How's Bucks? How's Hangman? I know, Not doing too good ain't it."
I thought so too but he’s actually not. The one with Perry had his dog on the front. This one is just the skull from ROH
And now that Punk is the top guy no one will be watching this shit in WWE either. Don’t kid yourself.
@redkritter1225 wow!!! Lie better bro. At least make it convincing.
@@redkritter1225found Tony’s burner account
The same jacket he also used when he came out to face MJF in that dog collar match.
Punk’s promo after was some old school Mid South work. The Fed is in good hands with Trips.
It's in bad hands. Raw and smackdown are almost always boring af. HHH is booking for the IWC, who are so dumb (wanting guys who "deserve it" to be the champions, etc), not the majority. Most fans wanted Rock vs Roman, not Cody vs Roman. The Rock vs Roman confrontations got way louder reactions. And when they showed the recap of that press conference thing on the following raw, when they showed The Rock showing up, they added in a bunch of fake boos (compare how the recap sounded to how it sounded live at the actual press conference, at the actual press conference he got cheered). The Cody wrestlemania match was forced. The Rock vs Roman was the match that most fans naturally wanted. Rock vs Roman would've been better and would've drew way more, and Rock (especially since he's a heel) as champ right now would've been Way more interesting, even if he was a part timer.. And also, that could've made wrestling right now more mainstream, even if just by a little. And the more mainstream wrestling is, the funner it is.. WWE should be friken amazing right now since they have CM Punk, Roman, Cody (who was way better in AEW by the way, even tho AEW books for the IWC too), and The Rock
Raw and smackdown have a few guys who do great segments every week, but that's it. Overall, the shows aren't great or even good. They're just ok, aka boring. The only good wrestling show (from start to finish) that i've seen in the past like at least 10 years was Collision when CM Punk was there. If HHH wants to make raw and smackdown good, the first thing he needs to do is start booking for the majority, not the IWC. This is crazy, i've never seen WWE do this before. I really, really hope he stops mainly because if he keeps doing this, he could actually ruin wrestling. Shane should've gotten the keys man, not HHH..
@@zhougongjin2704you see this isn’t what the vast majority think so what you’re saying here isn’t relevant
"What a mark!" @@zhougongjin2704
@@zhougongjin2704 Ok, Tony!
If this goes the way it appears to be trending, a new anti-Bloodline/anti-Punk heel faction comprised of Rollins, Drew, and Owens should be nothing less than totally awesome.
Jfc
Or Elimination Chamber of all 6 of them.
You can toss a couple younger guys in as well. "Wanting to make a name for themselves" by toppling the top guys
What would make it even sweeter would be Danielson returning to lead that faction. This is based on his final WWE match to date and what can carefully be referenced about the Wembley decision.
Imagine the business Punk/Omega could’ve done for AEW if The Elite weren’t intimidated by actual star power.
I’m calling it, Kenny Omega’s days in AEW are numbered. He looked like he didn’t wanna be at Dynamite this week and his return to NJPW before AEW speaks volumes.

Omega looks like he is done with AEW as EVP and will soon seek for release and hop back to Japan or pull AJ Styles and end his career in WWE to get bigger recognition and end his career with WWE.
They did CM Punk a favor to send him back to WWE before their Netflix debut, now he's part of the cover for Raw in Netflix and lapsed fans only recognize CM Punk because he was hot in the 2010s and he's definitely hot now
I like him a lot more now.
LIKE MUSSOLINI
This match was better than all 3 5 star rated matches meltzer gave to his favourites omega . Okada . Osprey and this wasn't even a 5 star match
That's the irony. If Meltzer tried to over-correct and give Punk/Rollins 5-stars, we'd call him out on that too. As we're normal.
Nah, I'd argue it was overall pretty middling. As a buddy of mine said, Punk is just too old and slow at this point to put on any great matches, you could see Rollins was trying to drag some life out of him at times.
@@Smooterino Yeah, you and your buddy need to seek professional help.

The Punk Effect - the theory that if you're any kind of decent wrestler and worker, and you get to work with Punk, you're going to reach your maximum potential. Happened with MJF, Drew, Ricky Starks, and now Seth. Doesn't work if you're just a lousy wrestler or worker like Adam Page or Jon Moxley.
Now we need one more Punk vrs Cena

@@YoursAnonymously people aren’t talking about it because it sucked
@@tradertrader6070 Quiet you, whoever you are.
To be fair, there was way too many filler moments and things happening that were not needed. I get needing to showcase all of your stars, but way too many celeb shots and one more match could of been put into the show. It is a "Wrestling" show after all and while we do need the talking segments, there was too much of it over wrestling.
It was good but when they started doing nothing but finishers and kick out of 2 it kind of lost me
Punk and Rollins may have issues with each other. But they’re both professionals, they know business needs to be done. They worked together to do business because that’s the grown up thing to do. They may hate each other, but they love this business to put things aside to make it work.
Didn't Seth and Cody also have real life heat? Is Seth kind of hard to get along with?
@@mattm7798Hmmm. Maybe Seth is the problem.
Just like Bret and Shawn, it's called being professionals and doing your work. Some needs to pay attention.
The Howling Man is such a great episode! Nice
My only complaint is that the back to back GTS spot could’ve been closer to the ropes; Seth spinning around and stumbling onto Punk was ehhh..
Love how this is our complaint on a Punk match, not "he no sold a poison Rana"
yea it looked too scripted
Agreed. Thats such a corny, "new era" thing you see and it takes me out of the immersion
You know the match was good when you find yourself nit-picking and I agree with you. I probably didn't find it as egregious but it would have looked more natural if they were closer; plus it would have been easier on Punk too as it looked pretty awkward on his knee when he first tried to lift him.
@Solidor_X it wasn't nitpicking, it was literally the finish and it didn't look that good
I smell a supergroup forming.
I think we might get Drew, Franklin and Owens coming together over their dislike of CM Punk, Roman and Cody.
Thanks again Jungle Boy
I love how Punk sells. The match was great. I watched the live fan cam and it was even better especially the audio of the fans compared to the audio for the Netflix version.
Punk seemed to leave the door open for more of a program with Rollins, but unless Punk isn't going to main event either night of Wrestlemania XLI or either of them is going to get a world title, it's difficult to see it going for much longer, at least for now.
But Rollins becoming a heel would fit into the idea of a Kevin Owens-Drew McIntyre-Seth Rollins anti-OG Bloodline alliance. Last Friday's Smackdown segment with Cody Rhodes seemed to hint at the first two, and Rollins has more reason to be pissed at Cody's dalliance with Roman Reigns than anybody, since he sacrificed everything to help Cody dethrone Roman nine months ago. And that would keep Punk in that mix since he did the same at Survivor Series and has the favor coming from Paul Heyman.
Not sure how all this is going to fit together, but Triple H's team ought to be able to come up with something great.
One thing that I absolutely hate is the way they set up the rope breaks now. "Oh boy I just Curb Stomped my opponent! Let me roll him so that he's right next the ropes, that's surely the best way to pin him!" like we haven't seen that happen hundreds and hundreds of times already?
I feel like the whole "takes a big move to instantly pop up for a finisher+pin" goes back to Shawn Michaels. The thing is there is a big difference in taking a big move to suddenly drop a super kick and fall on someone for a pin and taking a big move to lift your opponent up on your shoulders for a GTS or something other big move.
7:56 it's called a smart TV gramps it even has dedicated buttons specifically for things like netflix
The foot the rope... I saw that coming. He was almost to the apron on that pin.
Rollins rolled him over towards the ropes which I thought was stupid
Yeah, you kind of have to be when you put the foot on the rope lol.
Wasn't the "bounce off the ropes into a second GTS" from the finish of Punk and Moxley?
Yes but in that match, Punk positioned himself better. This time he stopped in the middle of the ring so Seth had to wobble too far to get to him.
Disagree on the Falcon Arrow critique here - it works as a 'momentum' thing, gritting the teeth to get an extra high impact. It doesn't work as a transition move, it should be a 'last gasp' kind of thing.
But yeah after taking a superplex the recipient shouldn't be instantly countering.
Not like that at least.
Especially after two pedigrees (one on the announce table) and a curb stomp
Yeah and it's also likely to make your opponent feel super dizzy after just an insane combo which works in Seth favor regardless of whether his opponent kicks out or not
The Falcon Arrow transition makes regular Super suplex look weak. Most of the time is no sell to counter or kickout.
The only time someone used and won with a superplex effectively was Neville in CWC.
The art work for this one is sublime. ❤
I love that howling man twilight zone reference. One of my favorite episodes.
This was a match of the year contender and we are only 2 weeks into 2025. Punk and Seth took all their real-life animosity and turned it into a hard-hitting compelling match. Punk also sold his ass off to make all his haters, think he's "washed and injured." Of course, they didn't understand how to sell, because there were 300 gymnastic routines. I really hope we haven't seen the end of this feud, and it's just the beginning.
I kind of want to see a detour where someone new like Carmelo or Kaiser makes fun of Seth for losing and starts a feud there.
What we need is more Punk vrs Cena right now before anyone gets hurt
Thanks Tony, Jack, Matt, Nick, and Hangnail. We wouldn’t have all these amazing moments without you.
Amazing moment of a slow finisher spam match
@@tradertrader6070 better than the cirque du soleil matches of the other company that meltzheimers salivates over.
@@tradertrader6070prefer a fast spam finisher match then? 😂😂
@ take the really good with the not so good, but, yes. You are correct. Everything on the Netflix Raw debut seemed “off” somehow.
Funny how many people hated the match cause "Punk gASsEd!" and yet Meltzer liked it enough to give it a 4.25. Almost like there's more to matches than doing flips and going 100 mph and no selling.
CM Punk kicked out of 2 GTS, a pedigree, a pedigree on the table, a curb stomp and no sold a superplex.
This was a no selling finisher spam, of course Meltzer likes it
Meltzer will sometimes give ratings to avoid backlash. Dave absolutely thinks peak wrestling is doing flips going 100mph and no selling.
Who gives a fuck what he thinks.
Most people don’t understand selling, and actual matches that have logic these days lol
I love when Jim loves a match, you can hear the passion when he talks about the match
this match was awesome lol how is it that CM punk and seth rollins have all animosity towards each other and are working together while the young bucks didn't want to work with him no wonder why AEW product sucks since punk left i really enjoyed this match glad it was the main event.
This was already a match-of-the-year contender and did everything that Tony Khan failed to do when he had Punk in AEW.
Because Tony Khan failed to be a boss and sit them both down. He somehow thought everything would resolve if he kept them separate, even when they were on the same goddamn show.
@@matthewhostetter8974I completely agree.

Right! One of my favorite episodes. Rumor has it it was originally a cross that was supposed to confine satan, but it was nixed so they used the staff of truth.
Here we go baby the one I’ve been waiting to hear from
These two may hate each other for real, but at least their professional enough to work together.
Punk didn't 'pop up', Seth was doing the falcon arrow where he rolls through, keeps hold of Punk and pulled him up.
That’s my favorite Twilight Zone episode!
Franklin rollins never gets old lol
No AEW crowd will be as loud as a WWE crowd partially because you can’t make 2500 ppl sound like 15K even with TK piping in the noise.
I'm not big on kicking the down guy but damn they have been doing a lot of the piping in lately. The crowd isn't moving yet there is screaming but nobodys mouth is moving lol

There's a lot of legs left in this fued
@ScottRen14 when the feud ends, it'll be at Wrestlemania; Hell in the Cell will be the perfect match too.
I Hope it is Punk has so many more matches to give then to waste his time with Rollins 2 more times..

The Howling Man lol I love it
To anyone saying that Punk was gassed, you don't know what you're talking about, rewatch the match again carefully and watch who is calling most of it
There's no point in arguing with Aew fans who I don't really consider wrestling fans at all, because they will go out of their way to hate on CM Punk or anyone who criticises their company. The only one who gains anything out of it is Punk himself because he gets to make money off of these idiots' antics.
@mma9869 oh i agree with that, Punk is winning because love him or hate him it's all eyes on the product so he's laughing
Wow the howling man reference ♥️
The POV Netflix cameras now on the ringside barriers, the drones are going to be a fine thing for the new interaction based advances to take you into the action. Nothing says *in your face* like a POV camera angle and if WWE goes full VR like the NFL and NBA it'll be great bringing you into the arena. CM Punk going over the way he did give Seth Rollins now the whole few months to build to WrestleMania.
I never liked Seth doing the superplex and rolling it into the falcon arrow. The superplex is supposed to look like it hurts both the person giving it and the one receiving it. Rolling after doing it makes it feel like it didn't hurt either one.
I only came to hear "like Musalini"
Good match. You can tell they held back a bit knowing they'll battle more in a while. Two pros not giving everything away
Seth’s costume was a tribute to RAW colors, I think
This was very much a Seth match ( modern style ).
The dives, fighting outside, kick out from multiple finishers and the transition from one move to another in that finish.
I might be in the minority but I missed the impactful style of Punk and Drew matches
Ancient folk saying: "You can catch the Devil, but you can't hold him long."
Ask Brother Jerome.
Ask David Ellington.

was waiting for this one
Crazy that Seth lost almost every big match recently
Ok, my logic for the finish is Seth rolls through and picks Punk up, so that whatever adrenaline Punk has helps him hit the GTS, but then his drops to his feel b/c he’s been hit with a superplex and he’s still feeling it. Seth fortuitous drops on Punk’s shoulders, who has trouble picking Seth up because he’s still selling the superplex, then falls on Seth for the cover. I don’t think it was bad at all, it was sold where it could be.
Great reference. Great TZ episode
My opinion of this match on the night was that it was extremely disappointing. However, as nearly everyone has said that it was great, maybe I was just in a bad mood by that point. It didn't start until around 2 hours and 30 minutes in, by which point we'd only seen 3 matches and only 1 of those was any good (Rhea VS Liv).
The Chris van Vliet interview with Seth really added to this, in my opinion. Seth is just laid back and chill there. But even there he has a gripe with Punk.
In a way I believe Seth did a better job there, just sitting down, saying what he thinks. Than in the past few years, doing that bootleg Joker (?).
I felt like the pop up from the superplex was supposed to be punks surge of adrenaline. At least he slumped after he hit the first GTS and the second one was more like an accident. My humble opinion on it, JC is the expert 🙌🏽
Punks jacket was perfect
Best thing about the whole show. 🤘
tbf it's not going up against much
@ yeah seriously. This Raw was so hyped up… didn’t really deliver. That Rock segment was cringe af.
good match, but the kicking out of finishers repeatedly is so tired. it's kind of like jim saying they hot shotted the business to death 25 years ago. when you devalue all the moves eventually what are you left with. Also..Seth does not have to turn heel.
surprised Boomer Cornette was able to get Netflix streamed since he hates the new way to watch media but I'm glad he had help so I could enjoy his perceptive on RAW lol
In defense, Punk is pulled to his feet after the superplex. He wasn't knocked out, so countering into the GTS is not completely unreasonable.
Bro this looks EXACTLY like Suraj and Micky from The Normies!
Punk reused the finish from himself and Moxley.
No mention of that?
Or him wearing the Wembley jacket?
Almost like nobody here really cares about AEW. Curious.
I believe that the Wembley jacket had his dog on the front. This had a skull. Similar to his ROH one.
EXACTLY!!
That was a poke at aew
Idk how the "fight forever"from the crowd didn't get more notice by the Wrestling media
i agree with everything Cornet said except Cable. Duck Cable lmao
Punk gassed so hard
I felt like a kid waiting on Christmas for this one.
And then getting a lump of coal
People acting like Punk isn’t just out of shape and legitimately gassed is hilarious. He talks like he’s a badass, why can’t he fight like one? Instead we see an exhausted old man
I thought the commentary was amazing on this one. Michael Cole reiterating how badly hurt Seth Rollins was, with his internal organs being damaged by Bronson Reed multiple Tsunamis, or Seth's broken back from carrying the company while Punk was attacking all those damaged spots.
That finish was something...
Punk and Seth don’t like each other and yet were able to do a program together. Meanwhile in aew, high school tactics were used to get punk out instead of attempting to make money.
The amount of finishers was just ridiculous. The whole event was a giant disappointment. After all that hype they failed to deliver.
I liked everything about the match except for Punk no selling that suplex off the top rope. That move seemed like it should’ve been the one that sealed the victory for Rollins with how beaten and battered these guys were, but Punk just rolled through it and hopped up like nothing happened. There’s only a couple of guys who could’ve no sold that move and it would’ve been somewhat believable: Undertaker and Sting. But a tired and winded Punk no selling it at the end of a back and forth war with Rollins made no sense to me personally.
If seth rollins plays this right and becomes serious....his heel turn could feed generations.😂
Great match, seems they're setting up for a Seth Rollins heel turn. Which works, Seth has been a babyface for a while now so a change will be nice, and he's always been better as a heel anyway imo.
I didn't think Satan... I thought Seth was dressed like Ming the Merciless.
Howling man episode is a good one. Glad Corny mentioned it.
Same. One of my favorites. Still boggles my mind Rod Serling put on S tier television with different actors each week. Shows what fantastic writing will do.
Seth should have won!!
My biggest disappointment in the match is that they failed to commit to Seth being a heel. They should have had Seth attack Punk after the match and curb stomp him into the next time zone which would have solidified a heel turn. Get some heat on Seth for a future rematch.
Not just this match but the finisher kickouts are getting ridiculous.
Love the Howling Man artwork.
S@t@N taking notes from Hogan is mad funny
Tony is so frickin startled right now
Great review but do Jim and Brian not know what a roku is?
I'm happy Seth did the job clean. No junk in it.
When I saw Seths walkout outfit I thought maybe he borrowed Taker's jacket from Wrestlemania 14 and just tweaked it
I was frustrated with the amount of filler on the first Netflix Raw, but the actual matches were pretty solid.
Now will Punk actually put someone over clean for once? He only did for Moxley in the last 11 years. He also never put over a young up and comer clean in his career. He’s really just modern Hogan
Actually, I'm kind of glad that I can drop my cable bill now.
Now that Jim has Netflix Brian needs to get him to watch Squid Game and Cobra Kai so he can review.
*My favorite thumbnail yet. Travis makes modern art masterpieces.*
The only thing that took me out of this match for a moment was when Rollins hit the buckle bomb and curb stomp and then, instead of rolling Punk out of the corner, he rolled him further into it so that Punk's foot could reach the rope.
Other than that, it was magnificent.
I guess they did it so it wouldn't be another kick out at 2
I always imagine that when wrestlers roll their opponents closer to the ropes is because they're too exhausted to notice they're making a mistake.
So it doesn't really fully break my immersion but yeah a foot on the rope is much cooler when you can't anticipate it. Even though 90% of time we can always tell it's going to be a foot on the rope
