    My minimum carry calibre is .577 T-rex and I never leave the house without several thousand rounds of ammunition, plate body armor, two backup guns, a katana, three to four knives, pepper spray, a taser, and a tactical pen. Also, due to my extensive training in karate, kung fu, thai boxing, krav maga, greco roman wrestling, and Mexican wrestling (where I competed for nine seasons as "El Perro Loco") my hands and feet have been registered as deadly weapons in 32 states, as well as Puerto Rico and Guam. In addition I have the complete MacGyver television series (rated 7.7/10 on IMDB) playing on a continuous loop above the three year supply of bottled water and MREs in my subterranean, concrete bunker. As a result I feel confident in my ability to adaptively engineer my way out of any situation using only the resources at hand, including but not limited to constructing or disarming any thermonuclear device (up to a yield of 5 kilotons) using nothing more than an ordinary kitchen spatula, D sized lithium batteries (rechargeable), steel wool, the scrapings from 3247 antique radium watch faces, a tube of Crest brand "dazzling white" toothpaste, duct tape, and a #2 pencil. In order to remain alert and vigilant I have studied the ancient art of Venkatanarasimharajuvaripeta Yoga and now require only one hour of sleep per day and when I do sleep I have trained myself to sleep standing up with open eyes so as to appear awake to any potential adversary. In summary, I am prepared.

    Over the years my EDC has varied always trying to improve it, still carry my Glock 23 though. One thing I don't do is put any weight on my key chain, excess weight dangling on my ignition switch can wear it out prematurely.

      Same I started out with a glock 23 but I just didn't feel secure enough so unfortunately had to change to an rpg and 50 cal full auto machine gun now I feel I'm prepared to tackle any situation that dickhead God decides to throw at me.

    I completely agree with you about the Manix2 LW. I've been carrying mine for 4 years. It is still awesome.

    EDC: base is Citizen eco drive basic field style watch, victorinox tinker or 4 layer with scissors philips and saw. Olight i1reos light, tiny pill holder, keys, slim leather wallet similar to yours. Just got a buck 112slim select I am now carrying. That’s basically it most of the time.
    Hiking obviously more essentials. Truck has a multi tool, water, tape, cord etc.
    Day to day living I have found as I get older that lighter with the right selections is more comfortable and just as useful. Remember that usually I am at work with specialty tools, home with everything available for tasks, outdoors I generally pack appropriately. There is usually a “base” with more items supper close by.
    If living someplace that I walked, biked, or rode transit mainly I may take more/a bag.

    Good choice for the 9 Shield. You can increase each magazine by using Mag Guts mag kits either by one or two rounds. So you're 8-Rounder can hold 10 rounds and the Shield can hold 11 total. I switch those plastic clips on IWB holsters with Ulti-clips which are much more secure.

  • @egads2
    @egads2 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    You can upgrade your 9 Shield by an additional round for each mag with a Mag Guts spring kit. So, you can carry even 11 rounds using an adjusted Smith 8 round Shield mag and 10 rounds with the 7 round magazine.

    Leatherman Juice on keychain has been a game changer in my EDC system, though lanyard hole could be a bit larger for wider keychain rings. Thank you and God bless!

    Love the Juice S2. I often carry one. But, I always carry a Gerber Dime. It slides into the bottom of my jeans pocket, with (but not attached to) my keys. You don't even know it's there. Love the Dime. I just ordered 2 more from Amazon, on 4-1-18. They were priced at $11.01! ... Nice utilitarian wallet. Hard to beat a GShock. NiteCore Tube is a great keychain light. So light, you don't even know it's there. I also carry an OLight S1R or a ThruNite Ti4. So many good pocket knives. Got lotsa Gerbers & Spydercos. Great video!

    Great EDC, thanks for the update. Nice choice of the Leatherman S2. I've owned a Leatherman CS4 for about 15 years and it's similar. I've used that multi-tool on countless wilderness trips, but never thought to carry it everyday. I might start doing that! Also, the Kershaw/Emerson CQC-10K is a great knife for the money. I carried that knife for a few months at work, but then decided on a smaller folder (Kershaw Barstow). I work in an office environment and the CQC was a bit large for my needs at work.

    My EDC flashlight is the The olight S1R Baton II. It has man settings from half a lumen to 12 lumens then 60 then 600 and at peak performance 1000 lumens. It uses a rechargeable battery and for $65 I think it is well worth the price. It is smaller than your light but larger in circumference.

    Best Bugout upgrade is CF scales from Rogue Bladeworks. The CF gives the handle the rigidity the Bugout logs for, but without a weight penalty.

  • @obliviontactical7974
    @obliviontactical7974 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Two things. I have pretty much 2 edc set ups these days. The light weight version is basically the squirt ps4, nitecore tip, and Benchmade bug out, and Glock 42. I don’t think it gets more capable and lightweight that that.
    My heavier duty version I’ve switched from the juice s2 and a blade to carrying a Leatherman skeletool as my primary blade with a Leatherman micra on the keys for scissors. Light will be upgraded to olight s1r turbo, and gun will be upgraded to Sig 365.

  • @chriscon8463
    @chriscon8463 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Nice EDC! How’s the blade retention on the “Bugout” when it’s closed? I had a “Mini Grip” that opened up in a front uniform pocket & I’ve been really cognizant of that ever since.

  • @philp411
    @philp411 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Perhaps somewhat in the same idea, I have omitted a folder from my edc and went with a Leatherman Sidekick clipped in my pocket like I used to for my folder. This gives me far more utility at hand including a one hand opening blade. This allows me to then “upgrade” to a fixed blade knife which has far more capability than a folder.

    I agree on the Glock 19. Though I have a lot of options on hand, this one get carried most. A difference in my carry choices: I carry pepper spray as a non-lethal option, and the one I carry is legal many places where a firearm or other weapon is not allowed. I also carry a better portable flashlight for greater flexibility and options. When I drive, I make a habit of carrying a rescue knife clipped in my left rear pocket. Of course, I also carry a fully charged mobile phone, in an Otterbox Defender case. In my vehicle, I have a cabled down gun case, so I can secure my handgun if needed. In winter, I keep some cold weather survival supplies in my vehicle.

    Aaron, Nice well thought out video. I wear a Casio PAW 1300G with a military band. It is solar ATOMIC with a wicked accurate compass, altimeter, and barometer/therometer. Mine is pretty scratched up! My EDC is a Sig 365 with the Lima green Laser and a loose fitting shirt. I have many Fenix lights, but my favorite tiny one is the E01 with a AAA Lithium Battery. The same goes for many Spyderco knives, but my EDC is the Spyderco Endura4 made with VG10 Steel in Japan. Agree. the Leatherman Juice is a no brainer. Stay Safe, JRN

    I love the 5600 G-Shocks too. They're big on me, but worth it. The G19 Gen 4 FS is my summer carry and it is quite nice. Winter sees me carry a Glock 20 or my beloved CZ SP01. Thanks for the vid

    Rat 1 in D2 or a Leatherman Crater 33tx , NiteCore Tip rechargeable flashlight (it's very, very small) linked with 2 small spring rings to a Gerber Dime. The Nitecore+Dime fit in watch pocket of jeans.
    If I'm working, I carry an 8" pliers. If I'm not working, I might carry a Leatherman Rebar. Occasionally will carry the smallest Visegrip+wirecutter in a pocket. I ground dull the sharp edges of the Visegrip to protect pocket from wear. Same occasional carry of a dulled 4" Crescent, when doing mechanical work.
    I hate a big keychain ball of dangly stuff.

    I used to carry the same Leatherman Juice, but found it was too heavy most of the time and went back to the squirt. I also carry a G19 as an alternate to a G43 based on where and when I am going. Great video, keep up the good work!

    check out the klarus mi7. it's a AA/14500 flashlight and has more power, more runtime, but still fairly tiny. has a lock out feature and multi modes. you can go directly to moonlight or strobe. I used the magnet in my olight s1 packaging for the tail of the mi7 and it fits perfectly. adds an extra feature while still having access to lanyard hole and be able to tail stand.

    Question for ya'll: I was at a gun store and a fellow shopper a several feet down from me is looking at a gun. He was holding it in his hand and then tiled it side was to look at the side of the gun. When he did that the barrel was pointing right at me and I did not like that. I know was not intentional and the gun had just be given to him by the seller from the case, but I still felt uncomforable. Was this inappropriate gun handling by the customer or am I just being overly sensitve? Thanks.

    If you can get your hands on the older model of the JUICE S2, go for it! The new model (shown in this vid) has a much shorter blade (it is not as long as it could be, when folded there is quite some space left inside the handle).

    I use to carry a handful of items on my keychain. Then found out that the ignition system on the cars steering column can wear out prematurely and cause failures because of the weight of a heavy keychain. If you're still going to rock the multiple items on a keychain, I'd recommend having a detachable system for your car key. Good video by the way! Looking for a kydex holster for my SG 320. Might go with your CYA suggestion.

    I carry a 4 D cell Maglite and a 3 cell version as backup, HK MP5, Micro Glock, Pepper Spray, Bear Spray a wrist watch and a pocket watch with a compass and ferro rod built in and last but not least, a IPhone X with an app that tells me how to use all these products. Oh I forgot, I also carry a road flare and a Swiss Champ as a one tool option. So far I have only had to cut the packaging on these products when they arrive but you never know when you might find yourself in a survival situation.

      So what it’s american made?
      Just because it’s made in the United States it doesn’t mean it’s better than stuff from other countries, Austria makes high quality things
      Glock is trusted as dependable and reliable when the person needs it most.
      Not all people who watch videos are Americans, so for non-americans that means nothing, it just comes off as arrogant

    Aaron, I wonder why you don´t carry a watch featuring an Altimeter (like e.g. the Suunto Vector)? As myself you seem to live in a mountainous area. I always carry the Suunto Clipper COMPASS (thanks to YOUR Recommendation) but even MORE often I need an Altimeter.
    Besides, you can use it as kind of a weather forecast instrument.

    • @wartstein8814
      @wartstein8814 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, I get what you mean... But let me explain: I never thought of an urban enviroment of course. I am in the outdoors a lot, always very mountainous areas here in Austra / Europe (middle of the Alps). In fact, I use my altimeter-watch a lot and I NEED it a lot. First and foremost for orientation. Since I do not like modern stuff like GPS, but navigating by map, compass and altimeter. Say it gets dark and I am looking for a shelter to sleep and I know which altitude its located. Say I climb up a colouir and can see on the map at which altitude is a good point to get out of it. Say I want to navigate, just aim for a certain peak by compass and than draw a line to the ALTITUDE I am at the moment and so on.
      As for the wrist compass: You are totally right, the price is quite a lot to high up. But it is very convinient not having to pull out a larger compass for quick orientation but having one on your wrist. And THIS one is the only one that actually works (tried cheaper chinese ones, total crap).
      So, to cut a long story short: I myself really use and need these items for orientation. But only when I am in the outdoors. A city-guy does not need an altimeter/compass watch, would be ridicolous.
      Hope I could explain what I mean (since I am not a native speaker in english)
      All the best to you.

    I'm going through the same process now, I've only ever carried single stacks and I'll be getting the gen 5 g19 soon as well as going from a leatherman micra to a larger sog tool etc. And even when it comes to clothing going from a lot of drawstring cargo pants to more 5.11 type stuff. If I'm gonna carry guns and knives and tools anyway I feel better with the big boy stuff than the mouse gear.

    If you were carrying the shield with the extended length magazine. Then it was basically the same frame length as the G19. Might as well go G19. Me personally, I’m not a fan of striker fired guns in the appendix position. I want the ability to put my hand over the back of the hammer while holstering.

    Is that insulated or uninsulated Burr jacket?

    For practicality, if you truly want the round capacity out of the G19 why don't you just carry your SigP320 Compact?

    Medical! Gotta have it! At least throw a TQ in your pocket. I have the ITS tactical edc pouch with enough goodies to "hopefully" get through a bad situation, fits in the back pocket of my jeans.

    overall great video. my primary carry is a shield 9mm however I do have a G23 that I will on occasion carry. I feel the shield is a sufficient means of self defense for me. other people have other opinions and certainly it is fine to express that. my pocket knife is a kershaw ken onion scallion and it has done a good job for me, but I really want a Spyderco Manix. I did order a Squirt ES4 off your previous videos recommendation and mainly because of the actual wire stripping capabilities vs using a knife or other blade to strip the insulation.

    Good video.I commend your choice in firearms, the shield is a good gun but too small for my hands whereas the 19 locks in very comfortably. Also that benchmade looks awesome,I like the fact that they anodized the thumb stud blue to match the handle scales.

    Cutlery shop has an orange manix 2 LW exclusive in s90v which in my opinion better than all the other steel options other than Maxemet. But it's orange! So a true backpacking/camping dream. 👍
