Just as an 'alternate universe' theme, would like to see a USS Hornet CV-12 leave the docks. As in the original CV-12 was taken off her museum status, melted down, her steel was used in the construction of a starship, and was allowed to keep her old registration number.
Magnificent, absolutely magnificent... There will never be another like her again. When we saw this in the theater opening day, people were crying when they saw her again after 10 years. It was like we had come home again. The crowd cheering, as she finally began to move to leave the space dock, it was an awesome moment. You just don't see that kind of thing in a movie anymore. I miss this crew, and those days.
People will claim that the tour of the exterior of the Enterprise is boring, I completely disagree. The movie/Refit Constitution is a thing of beauty. Its and the departure from Earth are among my favorite scenes from TMP. I can never tire of looking at this version of the Enterprise.
Real Star Trek fans love ship porn! When I was 14, I saw this movie 6 times in my local theater just to see that scene again...and again...and again. :)
Truly a beautiful work! However the crew could have encountered Veger a lot sooner, spared earth some undue close call stress, if they had just skipped the tour and docked straightway...😊 gotta love movies!
I don't know how anyone can say the exterior shots are boring, it's an iconic ship that has history and is a character of its own. Add the iconic music and you get the flood of emotions as kirk and scotty returns home. I've seen people making models of the refit enterprise and it takes months to do everything from fitting the leds, interior that you can see through the windows and getting that aztec paint shinning.
Roddenberry had always said the Enterprise was meant to be as much of a character in the show as any of the living ones depicted by the actors. However, the various constraints of a television show (strict time limits, budgets, VFX limitations of the day, etc.) meant the ship never really got it's moment to shine in TOS. I feel like this bit was added to TMP as way of both rectifying that minor injustice while simultaneously showing off the improvements in VFX technology.
A lot of people didn't like ST:TMP, I love it. It is great Star Trek. Sci Fi is not all about blowing shit up with laser cannons & photon torpedoes (although it does help occasionally).
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: videos like these are a love letter to the Starship Enterprise and her crew, and by extension, all the Star Trek from this era.
I agree, even better than Enterprise D, to me it was just too big of a ship, my biggest issue with that ship is that the nacelles sit way too far down under the saucer, but this design has always been the best and for a main crew of 6 just screwing around in space exploring different planets, this ship is just perfect for that.
HIKEAIMATION..... IN A TIME OF SUCH INSANE INSANELY........ IN A TIME WHERE NO ONE KNOWS, WHICH WAY IS UP....DOWN OR SIDEWAYS!!!!!! IT'S GREAT YOU AND OTHERS REMIND US WHERE THE LIGHT OF COMMON SENSE IS ............ THANK YOU, for THIS PRESENTATION 😉😉😉😉😉😉
YES! You added the shadow on the Enterprise from the little pod gliding by. I was disappointed they didn't fix that in the Directors Cut or even in the 4k. But glad they fixed the disappearing space dock to the starboard side of the ship as it leaves the space dock.
It doesn’t seem like many of you get what these folks have done here. They took a beautiful film that had flawed effects and bad mattes and made it perfect. I remember seeing the Earth showing through the ship in the original version as well as edges bouncing. You’ve fixed a grand ol lady and made her beautiful. Thank you!!
The attention to detail is astounding. Lights, shadowing, realism, fidelity to the film...all much improved over the last iteration of this vid. I found myself in awe as though I'd seen this for the first time as a child again. My most sincere compliments, sir, you've outdone yourself yet again.

I'm so glad others like this sequence in TMP as much as I do. Those who think it is too long just don't get it IMO. This was the first time we had seen the 'new' Enterprise. Kirk's reaction is perfect. I love the way the ship is partly hidden by the space dock and slowly revealed. Excuse me for getting a little romantic, but it makes me think of seeing your first love across a crowded room for the first time in ten years. Fantastic sequence and a fantastic video. Thank you so much.
the bonus is that Shatner sells it with his reaction because he is all of us (for him its 2 1/2 years) for Star Trek fans - at the time - it was 10 years
THE BEST reveal of ANY starship in science fiction EVER! - The Jerry Goldsmith music still sends shivers up my spine even to this day and I watched it in the cinema when it first came out - CANNOT BE BEATEN! 👍👍👍👍👍👍
This scene is the ultimate expression of GR’s Star Trek, it is timeless. Great work, only a few nitpicks that the most dedicated TMP fan or graphics designer will spot. Keep it up.
Every time I watch this scene I feel all the emotions Kirk feels. Like he was on the verge of tears at how beautiful the Enterprise looked and feel his excitement at commanding her once again.

BRAVO! Magnificent! Still looks amazing, and I should know. I worked as a background person as a crew member in the science department. This scene always brings on the tears! In a good way! 🤠🖖❤
This entire sequence looks even better than your original version! Outstanding job on this then and now! All of this looks really great! Thanks for posting this new and improved anniversary version! Just spectacular!
🖖😎👍Very nicely well done and very well executed indeed, This has always been one of my favorite scenes of this grand lady ever since I saw her up on the big screen for the first time back in 79, and like a few others I know that it even brought a tear to my eyes as well👌.
I was born the same year TNG started airing so the Galaxy-Class Enterprise will always be MY Enterprise and I adore the Sovereign-Class as well, but even I have to admit to the simple beauty of the Constitution-Class Refit. Hell even the OG Connie is growing on me thanks to SNW.
KUDOS TEAM HIKE ANIMATION! I am happy that you guys didn't try to change the scene from the original movie. I've seen this movie so many times and it was like I was actually looking at the movie! You kept it original, but clean and crisp. I am still in love with the Enterprise Constitution Refit, thanks for giving us something that takes our breath away. Outstanding work!
I liked it! Hard to believe that it’s been 10 years since the first one. I get a bit choked up watching either, because what you clearly added to the anniversary edition was the pride of Montgomery Scott showing off his beauty to the Captain and Kirk’s emotional return to his ship. While I liked the space station, the close up of the Enterprise leaving, I miss the moon and the ship going to warp. Since I was a child I’ve always known, it’s about the ship! Captains of aircraft and of ships will tell you… it’s the ship! This was a fine rendering and another one to add to my favorites..
Utter perfection! Even better than the studio version. You can feel the scale and the weight of the Enterprise. I’m in the minority, but this is my favorite Star Trek movie with the original crew. All I’m missing is my man in the space suit doing his flip. 😁
Texture maps more detailed as is the lighting... Your render of this sequence just keep getting better with age... Keep up the great work! Wouldn't it be great to see the "old girl" again on the screen proper? I still keep holding out we may get a glimpse of her in the likes of either Picard or SNW....
Wow. What a great job. I thoroughly enjoy watching your videos over and over. The direction.. the animation.. extracting the live action and blending it and the music selection and editing. Fantastic
7:01: You corrected the color of the reactor. that is a great attention to details. This is masterpiece, so don't touch it anymore. I never noticed the space station in the background
A major improvement over the original. It's almost perfect. The original Enterprise model had a certain specularity to it that isn't quite captured here, but it's so close. Well done.
Wow! What a difference ten years makes in the quality of the lighting models and rendering engine makes. This one looks pretty much every bit as good as the miniature shots did in the original. Pretty hard to tell the difference with one exception, there was real scale to the lighting effects in this one, something that was always very hard to get right with miniature photography (that's why the trench chase in Star Wars was shot outdoors). Also, focus is never an issue in CG (unless you want depth of field effects) that also adds to that sense of scale.
this is amazing, and here's the but. Everything is amazing BUT the pearlescence of the original model paint looks missing. Shame really as its near perfect.
Coupled with Jerry Goldsmith's magnificent score, the (re)introduction of the Enterprise is, for me, the best character entrance of all time. Only Darth Vader's entry, at the end of Rogue One, comes close.
I noticed minor flaws in your previous video. Nice how you used clips from TMP and not TWOK. Very, Very, Nice! Looking forward to your next masterpiece!
This is a Re-Upload. I've fixed some issues and changed the title. color.

Just gets better every time. Never gets old and thank you
Still not in 4K dude! But still FANTSATIC!!!!!!
You kept forgetting on all of the maneuvering thruster assemble that they have dorsal and ventral exhaust ports. That's how the ship moves up or down.
The Enterprise is still the most beautiful design of tech there is !!!! 👍🏻
Magnificent, absolutely magnificent...
There will never be another like her again.

This is honestly pretty much the only part to the movie I watch lol that and I also like the wormhole scene. The slowed down action is kinda hypnotic

I sill miss the worker waving goodbye as the ship is leaving. Him just standing there is ok, but I always remember that part when he's waving.
Doesn't he do a flip also?
When the theme kicked iin and we saw the Enterprise from the front, I was as teary eyed as Kirk. Magnificent work.

ahhhh the feels, the feels, you get it bud
Even after all these years, no matter how many times I watch this sequence, it still gives me goosebumps 😊
This moment, when Kirk sees the Enterprise in front and his knees seem to become wobbly as his eyes become teary, beautiful scene^^.
This scene is the ultimate expression of GR’s Star Trek, it is timeless. Great work, only a few nitpicks that the most dedicated TMP fan or graphics designer will spot. Keep it up.
Very nice! The Movie era Constitution Class is my favorite. I’m a fan of this era of starship classes.
Look closely at 1:50
Admiral Kirk gets misty-eyed as he sees his ship once again, only better.
My firm belief that someday humans will conquer intergalactic space flight mitigates my terrible disappointment that I won't be here to see it.
Every time I watch this scene I feel all the emotions Kirk feels. Like he was on the verge of tears at how beautiful the Enterprise looked and feel his excitement at commanding her once again.
Tremendous! I believe the highest accolade I can give is when everything looks "clean" and it feels "natural" in it's environment. Just a great job.😊
thank you spending all your time gang for the fond memories of watching TMP. You guys did awesome work. Again thank you.
Just stunning work. I can watch and rewatch this scene forever. Beautiful and the music is just perfect.
This was THE Enterprise for me, nothing before and nothing after was so good emotional and in esthetic...
I think this gets better every time you see it over and over 🖖🖖
Absolutely stunning!! You keep making this sequence better and better!!
I love this...every time you post it with updates and just the original, the ultimate tribute to a beautiful ship.

These scenes make me cry EVERY SINGLE TIME. Thank you. Beautifully done.
A masterpiece, thank you!
I can still vividly remember this sequence the first time I saw it when the film came out, I had tears in my eyes.
What sailor doesn't feel that anticipation boarding their ship the first time?

You mean the navigational deflector, right?
You should do a shot for shot remake using the enterprise d and the enterprise e. Those would be some nice tours.
