So happy you have Heated Floors and now AC in this van. I remember many a video in the heat and cold in your old van. AC especially after your recent Vegas time. Have a fabulous day Tory 😃
The Cruise N’ Comfort is $5000. There's a bunch of 12V and 24V minisplits for Vans and Truck Cabs that are in the $400 to $700 range. They're meant for the back but maybe they can work under the van too, and they can be flush mounted without being angled.
It's such a small space. An ecoflow portable ac would work its around $1k. It heats and cools and spend the extra money on a large battery and alternator charger. And still have a couple thousand left over.
Finally you took the leap of faith and installed the air conditioner 😊 Your AC install is pure van life goals! Can't wait to see how it performs in this heat. Any tips for someone considering a similar project?
Tory, install some radiant barrier on your metal surfaces of your van before you start installing insulation. It will also help to keep you cool in the Summer and Warm in the Winter.
Yeah man, that's a little low and I can tell ya that bracketry is definitely gonna loosen. No locktite and the way most women drive, she's gonna find out just how friendly this company is. I would mount it either higher between the floor cross beams with a shield as you said or in front of the radiator since it a cooling setup.
Some constructive observations and questions....1. After having my oil filter hit by a rock from the road and cracking it, I'm questionable of any pressure filled device on the underside of my vehicle without some type of shielding. 2. In your refrigeration schematic, the thermal expansion valve has both the suction and discharge lines running through it, why? The TXV is designed to change the cool liquid refrigerant from the condenser back into a low-pressure gas prior to the evaporator. The evaporator then makes it a high temperature gas, which gets compressed by the compressor and discharged to the condenser coil for cooling. 3. Alot of the other systems DC or AC operation put the compressor outside with the condenser coil, an reason why this outfit choses to place it inside the cabin? Thanks
That’s the second time I’ve heard about this company in a week, thanks for posting the video! Seems I’ll very likely be using that 10% off code soon, once I decide what voltage my electrical system will be
7:52.. on the question of power. 55Amps = 660 watts for 10,000 BTU. In a 412 AH lithium that is about 7.5 hours under ideal conditions and it never stops taking it from 100-0%. I would think that translates to overnight or 10 hours. In my micro camper van in hot and humid Florida I run a cheap 24v 1800BTU Chinese AC that gets the job done in the shade or at night. It vents into my van Garage that is vented so you don't see anything from outside. It only cost $500 and consumes only 200 watts of power. I can run it two nights while parked using my 460AH lithium, but if take solar and drive around some for dc-dc charging I able to run it all week at night. It would likely not do much in a big standing van, but in my small van with it's enclosed sleeping area it works great. It removes so much humidity from my van in the summer. Video on my channel.
Cruise N Comfort is the one I figured I'd use if I didn't roll my own, and make a heat pump system. Scary that I know enough to do that. I've been watching your videos on this van build in random order. Back to sound deadening. I was thinking of going heavy on the sound deadening on the wheel wells, roof, and firewall but skip it elsewhere. This is because it will do the most good there for road, engine, and rain noise. Otherwise my insulation will provide lots of sound deadening. Sound transmission, like heat transmission, is greatly reduced by breaking the sound conduction path. A little planning can both improve effectiveness for sound deadening and insulation. Insulation, I was thinking of using a closed cell stick on foam product made for insulating metal hulled boats. I was going to install it in 1 cm layers with dense vinyl sheets between them. The combination makes a good sound deadener. It would be better with a foam sheet that is more elastomeric, but I don't need sound studio quiet. Also the more elastomeric foams are poor insulators. 3 layers would give me roughly an R-7. About the same as the best spray in foams can do. This is the modern equivalent of the heavy fiberglass and lead sheet sound deadener used in yacht engine rooms. Reflective bubble wrap insulation like Reflectix requires an air gap to work. Except in the ceiling, hard to assure there is an air gap. My plan was to buy an industrial IR reflective sheet and stick it on the inside of the foam insulation. Yeah, it only reflects heat back in. Using any stick on product, ask what the temperature range for both the product and adhesive. If one wants it to survive in the SW desert the high end needs to handle 200F to 220F. That sun is brutal. Those are my thoughts. Right now I'm just camping out of the back of a Tesla Model Y much like Bryan Hauer is doing. I have a home base so it works for me. If Tesla had a full sized van, I'd be converting it right now.

Good luck with that. This unit is overpriced and under powered. When it’s really hot this will work ok at night in the bed area but that’s about it.
@@michaelscarfi3196is there a better one that you recommend? Need ac! 😅
Making it more overly complex 😂
Never ever by aluminium piping in a condenser, buy copper only.
I dont really like where you located the boxes ..
I like the idea if them in the upper cabinet.
Just not under the bed.
Im still watching.......
60 yr old Gypsy....✌️🦋💜
55AMPS Average??????? You probably meant 5.5AMPS which is AWESOME!! ...
Oh you do know how to say Important correctly!
i really don't understand how can you live for so long in unfinished van? Why don't you just finish it?
"My electrical system, which was ironically installed here by Steve at Sandy Vans..."
That's not ironic, Alanis.
You are crazy. I have a $200 5000BTU window unit in my back window.
Wait a darn minute! You have a CAT? And you haven't introduced him/her/it to us yet!?
That could be the topic of a whole 'nother video. Or did I miss one of your posts? 🐱
There will definitely be a whole series about her when I acclimate her into the finished van because.. that’s gonna be quite the experience 😅
@@ToryDelury Happy you have a cat. Each has its own personality. Snuggle. Purr. Careful belly rubs. "Making biscuits" Sneak attacks. She will certainly keep your counters clear.
GIGGITY!!
Did you shoot this video a month ago because you went back home to your parents to finish your?
Yeah! I did! :)
Did the MAY, printed across the screen give it away? :)
Awesome, but wow, get a 2 post lift for that install, they are cheap!
Cool vid. It could be because I'm English, but if you paused for a breath, I could understand you so much better.
❤
“Counterpart” AYKM?
Ironically? Hmmm, heh.
You look very lovely❤❤❤
I thought you built the whole van before yourself your last van
I did pretty much everything in my last van except I had an electrician check over my electrical system after I finished to make sure everything was safe & my crimps were good & my heater installed by a local car dealership. But I would still say I built my van myself, cause like… yeah in the grand scheme of what a van build takes… that’s nothing 😅🤣☠️☠️
@ToryDelury if you didn't install the engine and tires , then the internet will say you didn't really build your van 😅
Those hourly rates are crazy stupid!
I agree.. makes it almost ridiculous to even consider getting any professional work done on a camper van.. :(
nah, that instalation was very bad, both parts, inside and outside, inside It took to much space on the floor, and now every space above that area is dead.....
I actually am installing a shelf above that that leads to the where the bench in my van is, it will be a little hidden cat cove for my cat because she loves hiding. 🐈 It could have been storage but I like to live my life so that my cat knows she’s the greatest thing in the world & everything revolves around her ✨
I see this this project if you're going to do it you're going to spend all the money it's going to take a little bit
When I start my van project, my requirements will be simple; gas pedal, brake pedal, tires, windshield, wipers, lights, steering wheel, *crank* windows 🤣, driver's seat, heater and a sub-zero air conditioning unit!
Insulation, bedding, and cooking appliances are all "luxuries" to me, but A/C is the difference between traveling and *VOYAGING IN COMFORT!*
Thanks for the info! My first drive will be out to AZ for a monster A/C unit! 🥵
Beautiful van Beautiful lady
