I’m wondering why your channel has so few subscribers. You do very nice work fixing and updating, we get to see your beautiful house, and you’re funny and entertaining on top of that. Come on viewers, show these folks some love and subscribe. I did!
It just gives me thrills to think that you are the first to touch and see wallpaper hung so long ago! I admire your diligence in documenting and preserving History. Great content.
I have never seen that type of scanner. Didn't know they existed, but how handy is that?! Have you seen Christine McConnell's videos? She has an old house in New York and she hand painted duplicate designs where her wallpaper was missing. I can't even begin to express my admiration for that kind of talent. In one video she too a thrift store loveseat apart and turned it into a gothic settee, complete with hand carved elements. I love your videos. They encourage me to keep going with our old home.
My 1908 house in Danville Indiana thankfully had a newspaper in the drawer in a built in china cabinet, we were 2nd owners in the 1990s. Owner had Alzheimer’s so not much was known. I still miss that house. Bought a 1992 house in Pella but it’s just not the same! Is next scrapping, sanding and painting the walls?
While I love all the old wallpaper the original is stunning. It would be lovely to get it printed again. It's interesting that something happened with the stairs so it was altered or something. I would never have guessed. I would have thought the stairs were original and put in exactly as they are now when the house was being built
@Lea-bw9wj the stairs are original it's just a difficult area to reach. Thinking before they were completed or maybe before the mantle was put in the flocked paper was installed during that initial construction
@ I does sound like someone changed their mind about something. Because when building a house you wouldn’t put the wallpaper in until after all the building work is done. Maybe once the wallpaper was up they had another look and made some kind of change somehow so that it left a tiny little gap with a sliver of wallpaper 🤷🏻♀️
I really like the original 1896 wallpaper design. Forgive me if I missed this reveal, but what wallpaper design have y'all decided to put in the Reception Hall/Foyer?
When trying to remove paper off walls in one piece you need to score the paper with a razor blade. Cut down both seams to ensure any over lapping is square and then either follow all the way up and down the lenth or score a straight line harozontaly top and bottom making a square or rectangle. Then that smaller piece will come off easier with out tearing. In this way you can save tge repeating patern to have reproduced in just archived for future referance.
I need one of those scanners!! I wish someone would reprint those papers but I suppose the demand is so limited I wouldn't be able to afford it anyway.
I know how expensive that DIF can get try your hand at inexpensive fabric softener serves two purposes get the wallpaper off the wall and it leaves behind the lovely smell😊
That was very good to see original wallpaper I hope you can get it duplicated the couple how to renavate a chateau without killing your partner on TH-cam she made stamps to create wallpaper and she found a place that will print anything into wallpaper they had in their videos approximately two months ago you might want to contact them on where to get a price for replicating that wallpaper.

You should bind those wallpaper pieces to rice paper to preserve them.

Steam it
@@license2kilttheplaidlad640 we found the DIF worked a lot better than a steamer and steaming destroyed the under layer.
