    This is the Melipona Bee is a Mayan or Native Mexican/Central American bees. Love how far it has gone in the world and how much the qualities differ. This is an amazing thing to watch!

      @greatsiraj 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Tetragonual iridipennis which is very different from Melipona, there are 20k species of bees in which 500 are stingless but this kind is native to India used in Ayurveda ,much before the discovery of America by Europeans

    • @valterzc8187
      @valterzc8187 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, the Mayan bee is bigger. There are dozens of species of meliponas, and that bee isn't even a melipona

    Thank you Binu, that was really interesting! What a great hive design. There is much more intricacy inside than i expected. I still haven't figured out if they will survive in Europe in winter. I have it written down though so i will ask my beekeeper friend to help me. I had no idea why the 'wax' was so dark. It makes sense now. Propolis!

    He is watching them very closely. He is a very generous person and transferring all his knowledge to farmers free of cost. Where as a few are getting pretends of his invention and making money from his studies.

    Just put the propolis back to honey chamber. It would accelerate honey production since the bees do not need to bring propolis back to the hive.

    Just to let you all know, I had ordered wooden bee-hive with live bees with these people back in January. It took a whole 3 months for the delivery. I was constantly following up to check on the delivery status, unfortunately, there wasn't a single response till date. Luckily, to my surprise, the shipment arrived. Unfortunately, the bee-hive model is not the one which I had ordered. It is wrongly shipped with some old stuff. Now I am back to square one, trying to connect with these folks with no luck so far.

    This is very interesting and a very innovative bee hive boxes Binu's father has invented and made.
    I am a new Subscriber.
    But I am Curious when you (Binu) said that the hive can last for 100 years. Also a box has been there for 30 years. My Question is, How can hive last 30 or 100 years? Will not the Queen Bee die and so hive function will also stop??

    • @darshanbakki4162
      @darshanbakki4162 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Even, if the queen dies.. They'll make new queen by transforming one of the younger cell into queen cell...

    Thanks for making this video. But even more so, thank you for respecting nature and teaching others to do it as well. Insects get such a bad rap from ignorant, fearful humans who would rather try the easiest way to control nature either by wiping out or trying to control what they don't understand by using unnatural methods instead of learning how to work in harmony with nature. It's time humanity threw aside our arrogant attitude of planetary overlords and took up our proper role of planetary caretakers.

      Just to make it simple. If the hive is full up it is a good time to take up to 70% honey providing there is no monsoon rain or winter for the next coming three month. It really all boils down to if there are enough flowers in the area (200m around the hive) that the bees can get at.
