I think he was driving fine. I think he was trying to be safe and drive legally. He got a great launch and then let off for the RDX to catch up. Those things are so loud you can tell he didn't push the throttle more than he needed to. He was toying with this guy. All he needed to do was wind out that last gear as the Acura shifted and it'd be over.

Honestly... When you are racing an RDX and you can't pull away at all and the RDX is still a nose in-front, I think you would let off and save what dignity you had left too. Acura RDX has a 0-60 of 6.1 seconds and it's an automatic so a mom that doesn't race at all can get that. The Mustang has a 0-60 of 5.0 and that's with a professional driver and specific settings to launch perfectly. The average Joe won't be able to achieve that. Since this dude either doesn't know how to drive or has a jacked up trans and cannot shift fast he will be lucky to see 6 seconds flat.

The K23 is a real bruiser. It was made for only a few years and installed only in this Acura. It's a Honda 2.3 line inline, typical 4 cylinder with 240 hp and 260 ft pounds of torque. It doesn't bolt into any other Honda, but a few Civics have had them massaged into them with tire BLISTERING outcomes.
It's a gem wasted by putting it in a 4000lb AWD. I've had one and it honestly didn't feel very fast with the turbo lag, and fuel consumption was worse than my 4.6L Ford. The k23 in a Civic Si would be sweet. The RDX really needed the V6 from the start.

I had an option for a 2003 mustang premium GT convertible and a 2008 Acura RDX turbo. I chose the RDX in a heartbeat because why would I pick the mustang that’s a two door, you can’t drive it as well I’m winter and not as much tech. Now the RDX on the other hand has MORE ROOM (I’m a guy that needs more room because it’s so much easier picking people up) damn it has a turbo?? It’s not as fast as a mustang buts it’s a SUV that is fast. It also has all this tech and is SH-AWD that can drive winter... Mustang - Fast.... just fast. RDX - fast and has all these USEFUL features.
@Crazy Chris Well its not a myth... It just applies to a different engine. 2 STROKES--- If you've ever seen those large "expansion chambers" on like a dirt bike exhaust--- its there for a reason. It actually acts just like a turbo... When the piston fires and the exhaust opens, it sends a shockwave pulse down the exhaust--- which will echo bounce off of this "expansion chamber" at its resonant frequency and reflect back to the port-- pushing pressure back into the cylinder just before the exhaust port closes as the piston goes back up to fire on the next one...... And this is specifically tuned and timed for that "echo" to effect the engine at certain RPMS --- this is what is known as the "powerband" --- meaning that it will only give you good power within a certain "band' of RPMS-- like say from 4k to 8k rpms......... and you can change this by changing the size and length of your expansion chamber---- fatter chambers give you more low end torque and thinner chambers will give you more power at max rpm's. This is a well known science. If you've ever rode a 2stroke dirtbike-- you know that its kinda weak and boggy until you open the throttle and you feel it hit that powerband and all of the sudden it feels like a completely different animal...... take that expansion chamber off of your bike and you will see that it will run like shit and have no power. On 2 strokes, the exhaust is critical to the engine--- not like 4 strokes where you just want it to get out of your way.
funny thing about it is the mustang let off at 60 and that's when the acura got lead. Also the mustang had a problem you could hear it stutter when he shifted and you could clearly hear him let off it when he was still winning

You guys are legitimately ignorant of the fact that the mustang completely fucked up his shift into 2nd gear, dropping well out of it's power range. An RDX will NEVER beat a Mustang stock for stock if both cars have a good driver. Mustang 0-60 is 5.4-5.5, RDX is 6.5 0-60. Seriously watch the fucking video again, and see how miserably he fails in second.
Stang driver obviously can't drive. He completely short shifted and was pulling slightly on the the RDX when he shut it down. terrible race and not a good showing for what the stang is capable of. RDX is no slouch though, just not quicker than a properly driven V8 Mustang. The new V6 stang makes 300hp so that might give you a problem too.

And for the person asking if the new V6 is faster then the older turbo, it's not, the turbo is faster and will actually throw you into the seat if you lay into it at any speed above 10mph. it's a little laggy off the line but when its spools its incredible.
This generation RDX has a factory turbo k-series engine. It was basically a k24 with increased sleeve thickness for strength to handle boost, thus resulting is slightly less displacement (smaller bore).

Stock 3v mustang with a good driver would gap the acura...my wife's 3v is stock, only a Hurst billet comp shifter,stage 3 clutch,sr performance springs,struts,bmr upper& lower rear control arms,strut bars,panhard bar, and a set of good sticky toyo r888r tires,no engine mods whatsoever...I turned a 13.68....people just don't know how to drive nowadays, there is no way in hell I should have beat two 2014 camaro ss in a 06 gt that said I know my car,I know what rpm it likes off the dig and staying consistent with shifts hurts these guys feeling,id be upset 2 losing to a little 3v 4.6

Stock 3v mustang with a good driver would gap the acura...my wife's 3v is stock, only a Hurst billet comp shifter,stage 3 clutch,sr performance springs,struts,bmr upper& lower rear control arms,strut bars,panhard bar, and a set of good sticky toyo r888r tires,no engine mods whatsoever...I turned a 13.68....people just don't know how to drive nowadays, there is no way in hell I should have beat two 2014 camaro ss in a 06 gt that said I know my car,I know what rpm it likes off the dig and staying consistent with shifts hurts these guys feeling,id be upset 2 losing to a little 3v 4.6
