- The following material is not mine. It belongs to Activision, Microprose, Piranha Games, FASA and all the other companies owning this franchise over the last three decades or so. This is but an exercise in movie editing. There is no intent at profit or infringement of creative rights and ownership. This is however intended to showcase the work done by the creators, promoters and owners of the Battletech/Mechwarrior universe for the pleasure and enjoyement of fans everywhere.
I did not create any of this material. I just assembled various cinematics, cutscenes and trailers to try and make an interesting presentation of this exciting universe of giant walking-tanks. Thus, some inconsistencies, discrepancies and especially variations in graphics and styles are bound to pop up despite all efforts to make it look like a seamless whole.
Hardcore Mech fans, please be tolerant. To all, enjoy this as a display of the rich imagery this action universe has offered us for over 30 years.
And maybe, one day, we will see a real Mechwarrior movie.

My dad had MW4 when I was a kid (I'm 23), and the opening cinematic just blew me away. I don't think it's an exaggeration to say it was the coolest thing I had ever seen at the time. I still get goosebumps every time

I'm 34 and I was able to play MW2 on my dads computer. I was 15 at the time maybe 14 I can't quite remember but the opening cinematic did the same thing to me as MW4 did for you.. Mechwarrior movie coming out this year.

When my dad bought a new computer around 2002 I was able to experience the glory that was MW4 Vengeance and Mercs (I was given a milk crate literally full of computer games by my aunt's ex boyfriend, thousands of dollars worth of games lol it was the score of a lifetime, and MW3, MW4 Vengeance and Mercs was in it), the intros always sent tingles down my scalp too lol.
The Warhammer Dawn of War intro does the same thing lol, that juggernaut unleashing OMG🤣

Season 4 time jump to 3049. Few episodes following Phelan Kell....then episode 3 ending....the Mad Cat moment. Clan invasions

Pacific Rim on the other hand, was awesome, and coupled with the--- and I quote, "unique mythos, history, characters and stories that deserve to be told, seen and enjoyed on the big screen." As odojang had said, yeah, I'd like to see a few movie done. If a T.V. company can pull off what'll be a lot of CGI, a T.V series would be better.
But hey, after Microsoft(headed) got a hold of this title and then shelved it, it's been downhill since. Now the "hidden" is owned by some small time anime company, and we got this poor bastard of a title called Mechwarrior online which after something like a hundred patches, still haven't got proper joystick support.
PuswadBelch Dude it should be a series, all these high budget series of late have show they can be on par with movies concerning quality! They can't put that shit in a movie and waiting so long for another movie will be deadly! I want a series!!!
Alain Archambault Robotjox was okay for it's days when it came out although not a great movie even then and the story has no relation to the actual MW/BT at all. Still, one of the first efforts to portray piloted robots in live action.(La version Française était pas si mal non plus ;))
odojang (Robotjox) Granted, in as far as the technology was at the time, but the plot stunk to high heaven. The "Bolo-saw", would've never worked. And the Russian bad guy suddenly ceasing his attack at the end, just because the stranded American pilot says, "We should be friends". Someone was smokin' weed the day the script was wrote.
There was a brief animated series based on the mechwarrior universe a while back.
What spirit in this old Mechwarror 3 game , its like they managed to realistically portray they grimness of war, struggle for defense against an overwhelmingly strong enemy, bravery, and integrated it all in to a Mechwarrior combat game. Its pure genius and talent.

This is an excellent cinematic intro to the Mechwarrior universe. Not only do you get a glance into the politics and conflicts, but a feel for what an engagement could be like. Agreed, we need a Mechwarrior movie.
+JDBriceProductions I would prefer to have a BT universe movie set around 3025, back when things were desperate for the Houses in regards to tech. Maybe even tease Operation Scorpion in there.
+Zach Rich 3025 would be a good starting point, working through to the Clan invasion in sequels
Caligari Cryx I would leave the Clan invasion out for a while, at least for the first three movies so as to better establish the lore and how the Great houses work.
The Mechcommander part brought back so many memories. I played that game in a league for thousands of hours.

@@AshtonCoolman I still have old “banned “ BT figures. Including Clan 2cs made. Some are just as old as my Original Grey Knight terminators that 1st came out in a old white dwarf.
I still remember when i get my MechCommander. It was a gift from my uncle and i probably played thousands of hours. Heck i even buy a dictionary and learn english because of that. It's been over 20 years but i still remember every mission, map, caches, power-down mechs and minezone locations. Never saw any mech game close to that greatness, fuck i'm playing battletech now and what i got a dozens of ugly random generated cgi pilot portraits with zero soul. Btw MechCommander had a picture portraits with triggered ingame animated movie-scenes. It is superior with every single aspect and i still got it, modded on my computer.

I bought the battletech boardgame for last Christmas. Before we played the first game with my brother, we had to watch that intro. Still remember the excitement of getting a joystick with rotation and force feedback for that old game. Good times. Also I won at the boardgame so even better 😂

there is already a version of mechcommander running I haven't tried it. It's a mod from another game and it's getting upgradded from the Mechcommander 1 & 2 that microsoft sold. PGI or someone FASA approved should make a more modern version either real time or turn based like the original.

I liked the part where they tried to make the Clans sympathetic and human at the beginning, and then the Clanners died. I found the 'last stand' to be particularly amusing. "I'll hold them as long as I can..." right, so about fifteen seconds? Yup. Good job there Star Captain!

***** No, I didn't. That's... really strange. To have an IS outfit equipped entirely with Clan mechs, even if it looked like "only" a lance. I mean yeah the Sea Foxes/Diamond Sharks/Sea Foxes sell to everyone but they don't sell cheap. And you'd think a whole lance worth of clan mechs could handle, what was there, an Uziel, and another 2-3 IS mechs?
Then again, the dude's brilliant plan to buy time was basically just "run out, then use, what, a single MP's worth of movement while firing missiles and a few shots from my LPLs while all the enemies concentrate fire on me." You're in a Vulture, dude. You've got thin armor, keep moving and using the LPL's to-hit bonus to keep at range and fast while taking apart the IS mechs. Yeah, I know he was trying to buy time, not win, but you'll buy a lot more time by being evasive and a hard target. If your goal is to buy time then you shouldn't be trying to actually take out the invaders, you should be prolonging the fight as much as possible, keeping mobile as I mentioned.
Also, that ammo explosion shouldn't have destroyed the entire mech, what with Clan CASE and all.
+Shenaldrac That clip is from MW4, which took place after the end of the clan invasion. They were probably salvaged Clan 'Mechs.
I'm aware, I'm more meaning the fact that even after the Jihad, hell until fairly recently in the timeline (3140s compared to the 3060s) Clan mechs were still incredibly rare in Inner Sphere forces. Even the Great Houses didn't use entire lances of Clan mechs except in their most elite units, and as I've pointed out, that lance didn't exactly act very competent. I'm guessing they used a lance of Clan mechs primarily for the fanservice value, but it was still a bit jarring to me.
I agree for the most part, but you also have to keep in mind that half the Lance was wiped out when the hanger blew, so that played a role in it.

Wing Commander & Battletech are two very successful game and book franchises of the 90s and deserve a movie!
+koyuki4848 They already tried with Wing Commander. They took what could have been something phenomenal with a massive amount of backstory and amazing ship design and ruined it. It was released in 1999 with Freddie Prinze Jr. if you care to look it up. I didn't like it, at all, but who knows, you might.
Michael Hopkins I guess FPJ is a one hit wonder all other movies other than the "i know what you did..." franchise didn't do well.
No wonder I didn't remember it, it was so crappy they didn't even bother to put it in the cinema's here.

Fully agree a realistic Mechwarrior movie is perfectly doable nowadays but with the
quality of cheesy and PC screenwriting I see it would probably be a wash. The
Battletech universe is hard edged and gritty....not PC....and the machines do mean
things to just about everything...
Dude this was so awesome, I love what you did with the endings, openings, and cutscenes from the Mechwarrior game for Battletech, shame there'll probably never be a real movie, but thanks for doing one with what you had. ^_^

Fox Mccloud I'd love to... I'd like to make more original ones using MWO but I haven't found a good way to do so outside of the cockpit view or over the shoulder shots. Frapps and demorecord seem inadequate for the task :(

The WIKI myth that Virtual World Entertainment survived in any form after 2005 might be a bigger myth than the Hollywood MechWarrior movie.

The only problem I see with a mech warrior movie, are the mech designs. While practical and efficient, they also look like the offspring between a toaster and an AH-1 Cobra.
All they need to do is CGI. A lot has changed and it is now harder to tell CGI from the real thing.
I don't honestly have the skills nor time, but SOMEONE should make a mechwarrior VR game! Since you sit IN your cockpit for the entire game it'd be PERFECT for VR - ESPECIALLY if you had any of those old virtual world Battletech VR pods from waaaaay back when!
You can do MW5 VR. There's a mod for it on Nexus.
Call me a nit picker but I find it amusing that Battlemechs are built on assembly lines as if they were modern day cars.
Flip it around. Armoured tanks in World War 2 was built on assembly lines.

Wanna try a Warlord mech in MW4-mercs? That mech is a REALLY bad choice; easy central torso targeting even if you twist to cover it with arms. =S
..nah its not that bad , except that the head is part of the central torso :P, but still better than black knights with that suicide head cocpit....

Maybe one day someone with a Hollywood budget will make a MechWarrior movie trilogy or do a TV series of it like Battlestar Galactica.
There's enough worlds, politics, and people that they could run it for years like Dr Who or Star Trek with a similar style of philosophical and ethical real world problems in a parallel running world.

I really enjoyed the film presentation. I don't mean to stray from the original universe but this reminded me a lot of the cutscenes from the first Command & Conquer. A perfect mixture of news snippets and action scenes to help construct the story in a realistic perspective. Great work! Had an awesome director!

I Loved going to the virtual reality center in Chicago when I was a kid. I wish someone might take these old pods and update the software and quality of the experience and1 even using either magic leap augmented ve* or full immersion VR Oculus type setups. That would be SO DAMN AMAZING!

A Battletech movie worthy of being called "The BattleTech Movie"? Now it could be done, but it has to be done from the concept novel, evolved through a light novel format, turned over to manga teams for the storyboard and character design and then live acted in front of a blue screen . . . BEFORE you allocate special for the effects budget. Why do I say this? Because to take something this deep and give it insufficient coverage, vis a vis its vast and broad backstory, is to cheapen it till it looks and feels no different from all the other brain garbage out there. It'll have to be somewhat like a a series, but more of a 12 hour movie divided into convenient one hour segments for general consumption. As for the plots and subplots, Kung Fu movies are redolent with them; revenge, rivalry, secret missions, failed coups, invasions, assassinations . . . mesh a bunch of those together in the background against the panorama of the Inner Sphere in, say, 3030 or so, to keep the mind occupied while you tell your Heroic Epic in the foreground. I know it's gonna be a headache, but I'll take the romantic lead role. It doesn't pay as well as Arena Mech Jockey, but I get to the bars before they close.
I agree with everyone here.. maybe a petition of sorts to get a film started with some good advisers so they get the story right... A good MechWarrior Movie.. not Pacific Rim... but a real mechwarrior story. You could begin with the movie where the Star League leaves.. then the next 10 minutes or so with tell the story of the succession wars.. and begin a story with the Clan invasion... go from there. Pretty sure a successful movie would beg for more.
Movies are about profit. You don't make profit from strong storylines and good writing, you make profit from stupid people. Trust me, you don't want a MW movie.

Its odd how davion / Stainer are fielding a absurd amount of Clan/Lostech for that timeline. I remember when this game came out and kinda hating it. Felt like they dumbed down the mech customization tried to turn it into a FPS shooter. Multiplayer almost always boiled down to everyone just stacking PPC's and sniping.
That's why I never care about PvP in any game; it's either pay to win or the one built and/or playstyle that rules them all; if not both. It makes a game quickly bland and boring to me.
Played 1, 2, and 3 as a kid as well as countless hours of the xbox game with a friend. I was always on the lookout for people with mech warrior on pc when I was a kid because I didn’t have a pc of my own and every on e and awhile I did find someone. I could either watch or play for hours just entirely engrossed in the environment and my young mind trying to grasp the concept of piloting one of these titanic beasts. It was a great time and I’m really saddened that I haven’t seen more singleplayer mech warrior type games lately. Luckily mech warrior 5 comes out this year! Lets hope that it lives up to the standard and doesn’t follow the path of mech warrior online.

1) Clan ER PPC.
2) LB20X.
3) AC20.
4) Clan "Streak" SRM (deadly accurate and outstanding for a close in slugfest against another mech)

Perfect cut scene of my play style! People underestimate a scout's potential up until they realize what has happened. Thanks fir that cut scene! And I agree, a real Battle Tech/ Mech Warrior movie should be made! Its too rich of an intricate universe to not be so! They did Dungeons and Dragons, they could surely do Battle Tech!

i am a mech warrior fan i played mechwarrior online before mechwarrior online had it's onwn game! i a real mech pilot! and there should make movie and spend a bit of money on it! it would be cool! also take the download block off this, this deserves a desent player to watch this on! please allow us to download it!
I am surprised that the world doesn't have them.
That's because a walking tank looks so cool, but it is a completely asinine concept, even if we had the uber-tech to make them move as well as human bodies, especially despite their size (the square-cube law in physics alone is a huge problem). Not to mention legs are a huge liability and not the most efficient mode of locomotion, especially with only two.
Real war machines are as compact, low profiled and simplistic as possible, so as to offer maximum durability, minimum target profile and ease of fabrication and maintenance. And they use threads for all terrain capabilities or wheels for speed and energy economy.
Battletech is fantasy. Let's enjoy it as such.

That Mechcommander cinematic always pisses me off :D Timber Wolf would have chewed through these light mechs seconds after destroying Hunchback, they made SJ pilots look retarded.
+Kidzin One of them was a medium mech, the Centurion. Both of the light mechs in question ( Raven, Commando ) are known to carry a larger than average payload for their weight. The Commando specifically is designed to be used exactly like it was in the cutscene. All hits were to the rear and that's more than enough firepower to take out a 75 ton heavy.

This was the intro cinematic for Mechwarriors 4: Vengence, but still I still cannot believe there was never a push to make a mechwarrior movie. I mean FFS Microsoft completely pissed the bed with this series. They could of made a **** of money.

I am also baffled by the lack of effort to use this very rich and detailed setting and cool looking fantasy tech. Anything from pure action escapism to deep war stories can be made out of it.
Guess it will take a fan with money to finally bring one forward.

The way they are butchering every franchise today (looking at you Abrams, Kurtzman, Chibnall) I'd rather wait a few years for those hacks to go than have a Mech SJWarrior movie.

That one is the most aptly descriptive of them all about it's specific setting; the harsh, unforgiving, dangerous individual life of the mech mercenary. And the game was quite fun!
odojang Yea man, it brings back memories, MW4 has ntn on this one's story line. I still remember as a kid with that mentor like guy in the Catapult who wud sink me with LRMs if i ever accidentally shot him twice, and how he turned on the Merc group after a couple of missions O.o Aaah, wish i cud play MWO

mw2 mercenaries was the best. the cd rom could be used in a cd player to listen to the soundtracks.

@@StarsAtNight1 There are now 3 versions of MW Mercenaries. 1st was from Activision back in the 80's, 2nd from Microsoft at the turn of the century and a few years back Piranha Games launched the latest version.

funny, a timber wolf is capable of out gunning medium and small mechs due to it's multiple hardpoints.

I never like how they percieved the whole one shot kill fest...... no mech dies in one hit unless its a headshot over 48 damage.. aka, mechs fins you killed the pilot
