    It's important to remember to 'earth' or 'ground' projects like this, if a crimp comes loose it could be potentially dangerous without it

    Love how creative you get with the tools to shapes things into what you want them to be, like fitting the toggle switch, and hot gluing the feet. Nicely done.

    Very neat tip to make a mini handsaw with a jigsaw blade! And I like that you gave multiple options for the lamp. Nice!

    Awesome as always, just a quick note not all LED bulbs are dimmable so just check the labels before you buy and if you live in the UK or anywhere with an earth wire please make sure to wire this in on metal projects, its literally a life saver.

    Looks Awesome! But isn't copper super conductive? Messing with electricity wigs me out. I am pretty sure electrocution is what sends me into the Great Unknown.

    I think a safer method might be to use plastic piping and then spray paint the desired finish. An ungrounded, copper lamp makes for a VERY dangerous accident waiting to happen. Alternatively, you could also use those LED battery bulbs instead, so that there's no current exposed to the copper.

      the safe way is to consult a professional electrician which i did. any material combination can be dangerous or safe if the wiring and components are properly selected and installed.

    Love the copper lamp part, beautiful and functional 10/10....but the concrete base looks odd to me 🙂

  • @WayofWood

    Very slick design. This project would also be a great one to just use a touch sensor and eliminate the switch.

    • @Alodri
      @Alodri 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like this idea. A 3-position touch switch in a cavity in the concrete base. Incidentally, I've found capacitive touch to work through concrete, which was a pleasant surprise in a lamp design of my own.

    I loveee the design but the protruding switch just doesn't do it for me. If the switch was in the main body of the lamp it would look even more clean and stunning. But yeah it does give it some edge. But I guess design is a personal preference :)

    That thing better be earthed...

    Did you make a lamp out of copper then not ground it...?

    • @GM-dc8vr
      @GM-dc8vr 6 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      I honestly think you need to comment more specifically about grounding/earthing this thing. It's very dangerous as is. And people will copy it without knowing better.

    • @HomeMadeModern
      @HomeMadeModern  6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      we worked with a professional electrician and we do not provide instruction for the wiring as noted both verbally and in text on the video. The lamp is grounded and we do recommend pursuing any electrical DIY project without a consultation from a professional.

    • @GM-dc8vr
      @GM-dc8vr 6 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Fair enough. You really should write somewhere that it must be grounded, not just point them to an electrician. As far as it seems in the video, its ungrounded. Someone could die.

    • @HomeMadeModern
      @HomeMadeModern  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      that would involve specific instruction and my electrician says its more complicated than just grounding it.

    • @GM-dc8vr
      @GM-dc8vr 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yeah, I'd imagine so since you glued the pieces together. If you're fine with the way you've warned it, fair enough, I just hope you don't regret washing your hands of the potential risks for your viewers.

    Would of looked better if the switch was on the side instead of sticking out

  • @lukeellis4057

    Why didn’t he just use a jigsaw instead if making a handsaw?

    • @HomeMadeModern
      @HomeMadeModern  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the jigsaw would have bumped into the other side of the pipe

    You make very nice videos dont copy the style from others like from IlTMS as u did in previous video if you like that style implement it and use but don't use as it is.it looks kind of awkward

    • @HomeMadeModern
      @HomeMadeModern  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Bob is a friend of mine and we exchange ideas often. In fact there is an entire community of makers and youtubers and we all work together often. No one owns any style of video and everyone creates from what already exists.
