For future reference, Bluk berry for natural gift has 70 BP and can be gotten on multiple routes before any mandatory scizors has to be dealt with, and in general unless you need the hp on a pokemon for later in a fight, you probably shouldn't be chancing freeze if it would end up resulting in a wipe. Otherwise, I'd probably use substitute on Fantina's duskull since AI can't really handle it that well in gen 4 in specific (sometimes even throwing status moves 1-2 turns after it is up)
@@xandernorwood7383I mean let’s be honest, Black and White 2 is the absolute peak of modern game mechanics, lack of a gimmick mechanic, and great Pokédex. In my opinion, without the nostalgia of other gens, it’s the gold standard of games

Gen 5 pokemon age well for some reason.
As a 90's kid who grew up with Pokemon, "grew out"of it as a teen, and came back to it as an adult I always confuse gen 4 and 5 regions since that was the time period I missed those two generations. All of this is to say....which gen is Sinnoh again?
Hey Silph, what're your thoughts on doing an "Under used"/"Never used" pokemon Nuzlocke? I think having a run focusing on any types but underused representatives would be super cool actually
0:20 grass types are actually really good in competitive because they’re immune to some pretty important status moves like spore. That’s why in gen 9 VGC Tera grass is really popular
Grass type is good, grass mons aren't really. We have some outliers like Rilaboom and Amoongus, but for the most part you're better off using terra grass on a non grass mon like you said. It's like bug. Bug type suckd, bug mons don't. Volcarona and Scizor are a great example.
I actually jokingly thought how cursed you would be if you got an adamant budew after I saw the modest nature Turtwig! Died laughing when it actually happened 🤣🤣
No you can teach it razor leaf at 16 or with a heart scale! Plus if it’s not 71 by the time you beat the game, in the fight area a move tutor can teach seed bomb a 80 powered physical grass move
@matthewhyman2208 razor leaf is a decent physical grass type move plus it has the high crit ratio so it's really nothing to scoff at. Especially considering how common crits usually land in Platinum in particular.
@@alexpink3204 I swear platinum, black/white and fire red/leaf green had extreme high rolls on crits and status conditions 🤣 like damn do all the Pokémon here have super luck or serene grace?
I can just imagine Louie staring down at Milotic's corpse after that climactic strike, flexing in a strongman pose, then falling back as he dies with a smile on his face.
I'd like to point out that Ikki actually landed two back-to-back crits against Skuntank, despite Bug Bite having no boosted crit rate, while also dodging Night Slash crits, which DOES have boosted Crit rates. Legend is right, Ikki came in clutch.
Great challenge run video as always… I like how Silph includes the little gimmicks and tricks like finding the hidden dawn stone and telling us about yache berries on wild starly etc… Love learning new things about the older gen games. Brings it more playability. Thanks silph. Left the video a like!
Fun fact. At 12:00 facing the Zubat, you were hoping to make him flinch, but in reality, Zubat and its evolutionary line has the ability inner focus, where it can’t flinch at all.
I have been checking your channel for your newest upload. Thank God my most favorite Nuzlocker uploaded a new video. This is gonna be another great one!
I knew I would see your post today, I just felt it! This is gonna be one of the best playthoughs ever, I tried it twice already and only made it to the 4th gym
The crap around the starting town is snow. Sinnoh is based on northern Japan where it gets super cold with dozens of feet of snow on the ground in winter. It's why Lucas and Dawn are wearing heavy coats with scarves in Platinum; the season changed. (And before BW would come along with actual seasons too) You can also reroll the genders, natures and IVs of honey tree pokemon by soft-resetting. Not the species though. Starter pokemon are all considered cute for Amity Square. That place is really glitchy in BDSP. It cloned my Pachirisu 😮 Toxicroak is 2x weak to ground, not 4x. It's poison/fighting. The Universal Pokemon Randomizer has a setting to skip to Cyrus at the end of the Distortion World instead of making you go through it all.
I was just thinking yesterday...I hope Silph posts again soon because it's been a minute. I've been at work all day waiting to watch this. Thanks, Silph. Another brilliant run. Looking forward to the next one.
Silph 26:16 in Byron's Steelix fight I think the reason Steelix survived Tangrowth's Solar beam is because Steelix used sandstorm which raises the special defense of steel, ground and rock types.
Welcome back, Silph! You've been sorely missed. Hope your vacation was a good one! Well done on this one, it was very close at some points, but congrats on clearing another very tough challenge!
It's not every day someone uses the grass type for a nuzlocke... but when it's Silph I know it'll be a good one. Especially since he didn't use any low-hanging fruit (see what I did there?) about the type being 'awful.' Grass is probbably my second-favorite type.
I love people who call others out for things that, not only do they not know, but have done exactly 0 second of research on. Like the dusk ball they said you hacked lol
Unnecessarily switching Torterra into Tangrowth, so you could immediately switch back into Torterra to sack it was a pro-gamer move, why didn’t you just Crunch two more times if you knew you would live the Psychic anyway 😂
I would love to see another hardcore Nuzlocke of gen 9, but completing all 3 major storylines + Area 0. I’m doing a hardcore normal type run of this and man it’s challenging, the team star bases don’t mess around.
I thought that the Grass-type was a flimsy one, but you really put in the work! You even manhandled the Fire-type Elite Four member Flint and took out his team like flaming garbage! Mad respect! 😁
Grass-types have always had some really unique and interesting aesthetics throughout Pokémon and nowhere is that better exemplified than the starters. Every generation has basically nailed it with their Grass starters. Sure, Meganium is kinda hum-drum and Chesnaught is sadly mostly forgotten compared to a certain frog and fox on that gen, but aside from those cases all the Grass starters are amazingly designed and well-thought out in terms of final evolution, typing, stat spread and extra forms.
Hey Silph I've been catching up on your content over the past couple of weeks and I am liking everything I see! It's been a minute since I've watched you because of wanting to catch up on other TH-camrs on my list of people I watch regularly. The content has been amazing and I can't wait to see what's going to happen in the future. Also, if possible, please give us an update about your True Power project!! I miss the series so much and it is my favorite series and content you have ever done on the channel. I really miss the videos where you break it down for everyone on how you decided what everyone's True Power was it was awesome. Again, if possible, please give us an update about True Power. Me and many others miss it so much we can't wait for it to return. Keep up the amazing pokemon runs as well they are fun to watch and to hear your commentary. Maybe you could even expand into other pokemon series like Pokemon Mystery Dungeon and give some mono type runs in those games a try. Regardless, keep up your amazing work and I'll see you next time!!
As soon as you won I was like that’s crazy Cherrim rode the bench the whole league. As soon as I said that you made the cherrim free pass joke I was like that’s wild he just said thatttttt.

That Drapion vs Torterra RNG was insane
The Torterra has most likely a near 31 Defense IV or Aaron's Drapion has an attack-lowering nature. It shouldn't have survived.
