always approach a curb on a 45 degree angle, or better. or even better, its just water, go through it. (I always watch the tires on the car a head of me, (before I make the decision to jump a curb) also in some country's riding on a side walk, will get you a ticket (traveling on pedestrian walkways) blocking the means of egress
