his love for all styles of music is one thing that makes him such a great musician. and the fact that he's always a student, learning something new every day.
I've never really followed EJ much, but I've stumbled upon a few performances of his since I started playing guitar (June 2008). He's a phenomenal player with great technique, tone, and phrasing. Even though I'm not an "avid follower" of his, he's one of those guys that is a great role model and inspiration to look up to with incorporating many genres into your playing and always learning something.
One of the greatest guitar players ever, but not recognized as such. Not quite sure how that has happened, especially since his has played the greatest guitar solo ever.
I think he got voted "Best Rock/Electric Guitarist" 9 years in a row, or something like that, by Guitar Player magazine, so he is "hiding in plain sight!"
wtf you mean not recognized as such? He’s gotten plenty of press and accolades from the guitar community and music publications, hell he’s been recognized by the board who does the grammy awards too
7:50 I managed to score the tabs to "Song for George" off the internet (back when you could find official tabs on the net)...hardest song I've ever tried to learn. I can play it at a slower speed, but if I don't play it for a while, I forget it entirely and have to go back to the tabs and learn it all over. Pretty much genius of EJ for writing this.
I wish when I was younger (I'm 62) and living in SoCal at that time I would have possible pursued GIT/MIT. Now becoming a better guitarist is not high on my list. Because it serves no purpose at this point in life. I LOVE Eric playing like no other...... Great vid.

Wow when he plays "song for George" it's just flawless and amazing. What a player!
WOW! Eric playing solo.
Gotta love EJ's sense of humour, he literally uses the mic stand as a slide at 13:17 😂😂
