Ranking Arctic Monkeys Albums from Worst to Best

- After a few weeks of The Car now being out. it's interesting to reflect on the progression that Arctic Monkeys have made over the past two decades. And in a completely original idea (sarcasm), here are my opinions on each Arctic Monkeys album, from best to worst.

It is so fucking cool that everyone here has a wildly different opinion on what their best album is. It really goes to show how solid this band is.
I thought the same! No one seems majorly offended at my/others’ lists too which is nice as it seems people respect others’ opinions - besides one guy who was very offended and miserable on the post i used to advertise the video 😂 solid band indeed!
agree, a lot of artists have great songs on each and every album. i can't really rank them easily at all.

I agree that TBHC is a really great album, it has a concept & it delivers.
No one gives a shit about concept we give a shit about good music and attitude if you think TBHC is anything better than shit then go listen to fucking pink floyd
so, this is my ranking:
1. Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not (banger after banger. there's no words to describe how much i love this one. definetively deserves the first place. im a big fan of rock and the garage rock vibe is absolutely fucking amazing)
2. Favourite Worst Nightmare (almost as high as wpsiatwim tbh)
3. AM (it was the first arctic monkeys album that i listened to, used to be my number one. love all of its songs, it's still a favourite.)
4. Humbug (i've recently started to listen to it and it didn't disappoint at all, i'm literally addcited to my propeller and pretty visitors haha)
5. The Car (really loved this one, specially body paint and i ain't quite where i think i am, but i don't think i can put it higher than this yet.)
6. Suck It And See (the same thing as Humbug, started to listen to it quite recently)
7. Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino (I didn't really liked it the first time I listened to it, but i'm trying to get more into it. Star Treatment and One Point Perspective are currently among my favourites.)
i love all of their albuns without exception! arctic monkeys never miss.

quite a contrast in opinion haha, adore all their work and I’m sure ‘The Car’ will grow on me even more as time passes.

Not a bad order though to be fair! Just seems Humbug and TBHAC are switched. Yeah I can’t tell if The Car will grow on me in the same way Tranquility did, but we shall see!

I’m basically the exact same just swap AM with the debut, I think peak AM is better than peak debut but AM has ‘I want all’ ‘Mad Sounds’ and ‘no.1 party anthem’ soooo
TBH+C will always be their masterpiece imo. They went full 'concept album' and executed it brilliantly. That album is the only one in their discography that feels like a full cinematic experience, it occupies such a unique space sonically. Even The Car with its orchestral embellishments couldn't measure up in my opinion.
1-Humbug: IMO their most diverse era. My ideal album in terms of musical expression and use of instruments.
2-The car: I can appreciate a musically mature album like this, maybe I'm also getting old lmao. But the instrumental sounds, the orchestra vibes, and the clever lyrics are just my cup of tea. By the way, I think the live versions of body paint and mirrorball are just superior.
3-TBHC: This album might be dense for most people, but to me its like a symphony. Some pretty well executed musical piece. I lit tattoed "Its the ultracheese" bc that song changed my life, lol.
4-WPSIATWIN: We all love a good punk grunge classic to remember the good old times.
5-Suck it and see, AM: I just like them both equally, while Suck it and see is more "poppy" imo it still have classic rock pieces and AM is pretty balanced as a full album, its not their most popular album just because, even thought for a long time fan like me its def not heir best.
6-FWN: I dont really geot the hype with this one, its good though.

YES!!! Finally someone with the balls to put AM in number 1. That album is a modern classic and deserves more credit. People pretend to hate it for being more pop, like thats suppose to be bad, pop music can be good to, you know?
EXACTLY! Just because it’s popular doesn’t make it any less wonderful
1.WPSIATWIN (Just banger after banger I'm obsessed with the vibe and tone of the album. It's kinda a similar situation to AM where I enjoy all of the tracks except I like these tracks a lot more than I do AM)
2.SIAS (The tone of this album is great and has probably the best string of songs (basically the entirety of side B) imo. I love how the guitars sound in these tracks especially SIAS, TWYW, and Black Treacle.)
3.The Car (I've loved this album since it came out and I think that it's kinda underrated but def not the masterpiece some people will say it is. songs like Perfect sense, Mr. Schwartz, Hello you, and especially Body Paint just are produced amazingly.)
4.AM (This one was definitely a grower on me. recently I've really started to appreciate the slower songs like fireside and mad sounds. Alongside the good tracks it's an album I'm content with.)
5.FWN (I'm honestly shocked how low this was for me but I realized how not so often I revisit this album for anything other than 505, Teddy picker, or FA. I did used to listen to the album religiously which may have caused my lack of interest in it now)
6.TBHC (Similar to FWN I don't really revisit this one that much anymore, There are definitely really good tracks that I'll listen to like ultracheese, star treatment, one point, and 4/5. But I think that the tracks of FWN are just more enjoyable for me)
7.Humbug (I'm honestly on the same boat as you here. I don't think I've really ever touched this album much since my initial listen and like two other relistenings, I just don't really get the appeal. ofc you have cornerstone and crying lightning as the highlights of the album but out of all the albums this one is just the least interesting)

Funnily enough you and I have very different placements on this list, since Humbug is my favourite album, but I also place TBHC as my second favourite. This album is incredible and it's ideia is so weird, I love it. Batphone is one of my favourite songs of all their discography and it should receive more love to be played on live

I can’t order them, but I think I’ll go with One Point Perspective, Stop The World Cause I Wanna Get Off, This House Is A Circus, Still Take You Home, Cornerstone, No1 Party Anthem, R U Mine, No Buses, Dancing Shoes, Suck It And See.
To be honest though that probably changes on a weekly basis, so I’d take that as a very unset 10 😂 I could’ve filled the 10 up with just AM & TBHC at one point.
I’ve listened to Arctic Monkeys for about 15 years so I’ll certainly be missing certain ones I loved for ages off of it. Any of your favourites in there?

But for real I'm very happy to see some of my list there and This house is a circus although it's not on my list, but Suck it and See?? For real??
I never gave to much love to suck it and see (song) and only use to listen to the acoustic version, but today I listened to it when I after listening to some of the other songs of the album and it just hit me for real this time, made me feel such a feeling of fulfillment, is such a joyful song and is climbing up my rankings very quickly. Love to see it on a top 10 :D

Arctic Monkeys discography is like buffet. You pick what you like. Some people don't like TBHC era and prefer AM era, and that's okay.
I don't have any ranking for Arctic Monkeys album. I only have two categories, the absolute masterpiece and masterpiece.
The Absolute Masterpiece: AM & TBHC
The master piece: the rest of albums
My personal list:
1. AM. The first reason I think everyone hates on it, is because combining classic rock sounds with hip hop beats was not considered very "indie rock" by the indie world. The second reasln I think everyone hates on it, is because writing a pop n roll album with the intention of breaking into North America's mainstream was also "not very indie" of them/monkey mania also brought in the young fans to concerts which some people didn't seem to like. Finally, the band favors these songs live which marked the end of the consistent high energy sets & variety of old tunes played.
2. Humbug. It has a unique style. It's difficult to explain. i suppose, the imagery that you get in your imagination, while listening to it, is very intriguing. I think, the same thing can be said about Tranquility Base Hotel+Casino.
3. The Car. The Car is such a good album. I've seen so much hate surrounding The Car. I get that people don't like the change, and they miss the old sound, but if you listen to and interpret of the lyrics of "Big Ideas," you can tell that Alex does too. I personally love the new sound, "There'd better be a mirrorball" is something I could listen to all day.
4. Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino. it's definitely a kick-ass concept album. I love how alex is singing close to the mic, and the 60s vibe is so satisfying and makes me high. I am in love with the drums in She Looks Like Fun. The sound of Alex in the title song, the guitar part in One Point Perspective, the lyric perfection in The Ultracheese, the feeling I get like I'm in an action movie when listening to Golden Trunks and American Sports, not to forget how Four out of Five makes me want to stand up and dance.
5. Suck It And See. Why do you guys love Suck It And See so much? Don't get me wrong though, I don't hate the whole album, it contains some of the best AM lyrics, it's just that there are a lot of skips on it and I never found it as appealing as other AM projects. If it was another band's work it probably would've been their best album ever, but compared to other AM albums it's just super flat to me. Both lyrically and musically.
6. Favourite Worst Nightmare. Not my fav but I have always thought FWN has its elements in a way that sounds great together. Idk why I but listen it beginning to end w/o any skip.
7. Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not. The album is at times charming, oddly affecting, and certainly promising but understandably something less than life changing.

1 - Humbug; easily the darkest sounding album of them all but still light with amazing songs like Cornerstone and Secret Door. i love psychedelic rock in general and i love the way this album just feels like youre enveloped in its sound, not to mention this album easily has the best singles out of all the others combined with songs like Catapult, Fright Lined Dining Room, and The Afternoon's Hat
2 - TBHC; if i were ranking based on greatness and not my favorites this would easily be number 1. fs their magnum opus, where the elegancy of this album just flows so well throughout each song (maybe minus Golden Trunks), and each song is connected with an overarching theme, and the lyrics are beautiful and intricate
3 - FWN; pure adrenaline, yet also has some gentle or harder moments, but i can always have fun with this album
4 - The Car; the best album to just have in the background, or just to chill and listen to the gentleness of each song, songs like Body Paint and Mirrorball are some of my favorites from them but many of the songs feel like filler (also the Big Ideas solo is easily their best it sounds so good)
5 - WPSIATWIN; each song feels kinda similar and they all just blend together in my head after a time. luckily each song, with the exception of a few, is a ton of fun, such as When The Sun Goes Down or A Certain Romance
6 - AM; simplistic yet has some incredible songs like Do I Wanna Know and Knee Socks. for me this album's middle is really forgettable and i never listen to songs like Mad Sounds or No1 Party Anthem. only thing keeping this from last place is the first few and last songs of the album
7 - SIAS; for me this album has the worst lyrics of all, though still has some fun songs like Hellcat or SIAS. it also suffers from an identity crisis between hard desert rock or poppy upbeat songs. just because its last doesnt mean its not fun though
I think that AM will always be the No1 among all their albums or at least their magnum opus (most important job): I've listened every one and well, I loved TBHC and is a nice shift, FWN is a great continuation of a strong debut, WPSIATNWIN is banger after banger, SIAS is like a comeback from their first album and is my favourite actually, while HB and TC never grabbed me, but AM... Man, that album not only was good soundwise, it also was TOO ICONIC for the 2010's, everything! The dark vibe, sounds, the love struggles topic... FWN made the band famous, but AM made the band mainstream, a part of pop culture (is amazing HOW MANY new fans "Do I wanna know?" And "R U mine?" introduced). Even songs that were left during the AM era like "Stop the world" or "Electricity" where spectacular too!
And, as you said, AM was the end of an era; for me and many of us, it was the climax of the band. I think that because is a mix of both that old garage band vibe with the new melancolic shift. You truly nailed it when you said that that album deserves to be given the status of legendary or classic
I've been trying to come up with my ranking for Arctic Monkeys albums for years now. I definitely know which one is my favorite and which is my least favorite one. For the rest, my opinion keeps changing.
I know 100% that FWN is my favorite album of all time. There is no other album that I can listen to over and over again from front to back without ever feeling the need to skip a song. Every song is perfectly placed in the tracklist.
I definitely enjoy SIAS the least. It never really grabbed me but I could never put my finger on exactly what was bothering me about it.
The rest of the albums are so hard for me to put in a ranking.
The Debut, Humbug and AM are all pretty equal to me and each one has different reasons for why I love them so much. I can listen to them over and over as well and never get tired of them. The ranking among these 3 albums changes daily for me.
TBHC is in a completely different world than the previous ones and it feels wrong to put it in the same ranking.
TBHC is not an album I can listen to casually, which is why I listen to it much less than the others. For me it is an album that I have to and want to focus on completely. I love listening to it during car rides and still, every time I pick up on something new in the lyrics which I haven't noticed before. For me, this album can't exist in the same ranking because it serves a completely different purpose than the others.
The car is still too fresh for me to decide where I would put it. At the moment it is below the Debut, Humbug and AM and above SIAS but this could definitely change in the future. There are some songs which I feel like I could skip and others which I really love. Overall I really like the vibe of it.
So my ranking would look something like this:
1: FWN
2- 4: Debut, Humbug and AM
5: The Car
6: SIAS
And TBHC just exists in its own ranking far away from the others because I can't possibly compare them.
I've been doing some "scientific research" and I discovered some stats that have strengthened, and slightly changed my ranking.
I've had a big spotify playlist which contains all Arctic monkeys songs (all albums and all EPs / B-Sides). But I decided to compile a new playlist with only my favourite favourites on it, which I can listen to regularly. I've discovered a few interesting patterns, as my brain functions best with numbers, and decided to share this:
Here is how many songs from each album made it onto that new playlist:
WPSIAM: 6 / 13 (46 %)
(honorable mention: No buses)
FWN: 12 / 12 (100 %)
Humbug: 6 / 10 (60 %)
SIAS: 2 / 12 (17 %)
AM: 11 / 12 (92 %)
TBHC: 3 / 11 (30 %)
Car: 5 / 10 (50 %)
If you compile a ranking with these numbers, it would look like this:
1. FWN
2. AM
3. Humbug
4. Car
5. WPSIAM
7. TBHC
8. SIAS
As I said before, I can't put TBHC in the same ranking with the others. Keep in mind, that these are the 3 songs that I would / could listen to without the context of the complete album.
I'm not comfortable with the Car being above WPSIAM and since there is one more song of the debut on the playlist, I feel vindicated in switching those two.
So here is my final ranking:

3. Humbug
4. WPSIAM
5. Car

I'm kind of surprised about AM. I've always known that I love that album but I feel like because it is so hyped I always felt like I didn't want to give into the hype. But by compiling this playlist, I've realised how perfect this album truly is and that it deserves its spot at number two.
I'm not saying it's a masterpiece, but Hello You, Body Paint, and Jet Skis on the Moat are some of my favorite songs 😅
Body Paint just makes me- feel??? I don't know there's something about it that I absolutely ADORE.
I love all albums but my favourite is without a doubt SIAS, the LA summer aesthetic and happy tunes with kinda melancholy lyrics is great. The only thing bad about the album is brick by brick, but replace it with Evil Twin or The Blond O Sonic Shimmer Trap and it's perfect
Think you nailed the vibe of SIAS there and is something I always struggled to put into words myself! I do agree Brick by Brick is probably the weakest track on it by far, I try to take it as a meme of a song now though 😂
I also used to hate brick by brick, until I saw a video of a concert where they played it and it was an absolute blast! I think this song should only be listened to live lol
Yes another SIAS fan. Not only am I an SIAS fan but also a Brick by Brick fan. I've always thought it had a very catchy tune to it and was surprised when I started hearing that it's almost unanimously loathed by fans. A misunderstood banger.

I was going to write an essay worth of my thoughts on these albums but I figured that would be too time consuming. I will say this though, There’d Better Be a Mirrorball and Body Paint are among my favorite Arctic Monkeys songs (though I do think the live versions of Body Paint are far superior than the studio version.)

1 - FWN: This was very close to AM! I love all of the songs in FWN way more than AM’s however, so it’s higher on the list. Its songs are so cool and enchanting to me and I especially love Brianstorm and Do Me A Favour!
2 - AM: This was the album that introduced me to the band, and it was astonishing. It was such and eye opener to rock and I loved it. My favorites were probably Do I wanna Know? and Why’d you only Call me when your High?
3 - WPSIATWIN - I love the vibe of the album in general!
4 - The Car - It’s Growing on me, but overall not my favorite.
5 - TBHC - I love this album, but I would never listen to it over the others listed.
6 - Humbug - Not my favorite, I’ve never listened to it other than the initial listen. Cornerstone is great though.

Just listening to Tranquility Base a second overall time after my friend saying a lot about it I love it, the huge change in their sound, instruments, vocals and story.
The energy in the first album is just next level, catch tunes, insane pacing, great lyrics and vocals. Greatest debut album in my lifetime.

The first time seeing this video I was very upset that you put tranquility base over those other albums but the more I listened to it and went through all the tracks I say your list is the best

Thanks, I appreciate the kind words! Yeah for me I love SIAS as an album, I do understand it’s not full of world beating songs though, but I still love it! Whereas I don’t like Humbug at all besides Cornerstone & Crying Lightening, but those are world beating songs - hence why humbug wasn’t bottom for of the list due to those songs, but SIAS was definitely above for me.
Arctic Monkeys are hard to rank because all of their albums are so good! My list from best to worst would be release order except switch 4 and 5
I’m new to the arctic monkeys and currently my favs are FWN and WPSIMTWIN due to it having a lot of rock in them, I like their debut album because one of my favourite Arctic Monkeys of A Certain Romance, and I like FWN because of brian being a good contributor to the song.
Their debut is my all time favourite album, nothing even comes close.

My list is the same as urs other than I would switch humbug and suck it and see personally
I'm shocked to see how underrated SIAS is, but it makes me love it even more, soooo
1. SIAS: don't even know where to start, not one song disappoints, just banger after banger, love the lyrics, love the tunes, love alex way to sing it and the guitar is simply stunning and on point (cant even pick a favorit, i meaaan, shes thunderstorms, dsdcimyc, libary pictures, sias, reckless serenade...)
2. WPSIATWIN: pure fun, easy to listen but still never gets old, love it, banger to banger again
3. TBHC: lyrics on point, quite special songs, perfect arrangements, don't really listen to it on a daily basis, but opp gets me pregnant every time
4. FWN: Do me a favour and 505 (all time favourite forever) made me take it to place 4, even though its not 100% my album
5. The Car: its unique and i listen to it every day, body paint is insane, they out did theirselves, don't really know how it ended up on place 5 haha
6. Humbug: it's simply a vibe, sooo many good songs on this one ahhh, but i need to be in a mood for it
7. AM: i'm sorry, but it's not that much of a incredible masterpiece as the other ones for me, r u mine, one for the road and no. 1 party anthem have been growing on me, still love this album

Humbug: with this album AM declared itself as the favorite band, it was just incredible to listen to this album when I discovered it, in my opinion it shows a great n the sound and in almost everything about it on the band, He greets you with songs like "My Propeller" and "Crying Lightning" which are both amazing, and noting that the singles live up to the album. just my favorite
2. Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino: All my reasons for putting this album here are already stated in the video, so I won't give too many explanations.
3. Suck it and see: Despite the popular opinion that this album is bad, I personally love it, the atmosphere and sound of this album is something I just love, songs like Piledriver Waltz, Suck it and see and Reckless Serenade are my favourites.
4. Whatever people say: Their first album, unique and incredible sound, makes you want to break walls listening to it, amazing debut with a party atmosphere that makes you happy.
5. The car: Since this album came out, I have listened to it many times, and each time you listen you find something new, it is an album that marks the evolution that the band has had, with songs with an atmosphere of The Last Shadow puppets which I particularly like, highlighting songs like There better be a mirrorball, body paint, sculpture of anything goes and big ideas.
6. AM: I know I won't be the only one who got to know the band with this album, and thanks to this it is their most important album, it brought a new audience, with a more commercial sound, which I can honestly enjoy each of its songs without exception, without a doubt a great album.
7. Favorite worst nightmare: The fact that it's latest doesn't mean I don't like it, discovering it was wonderful, but currently it's the album I listen to the least, but with a happy/sad/nostalgic atmosphere, It makes you want to always come back.
And here my top, without a doubt Arctic Monkeys is a great band, that marked me forever, with different and varied albums that make it difficult for you to decide between just one.

This is my opinion,wpsiatwin is their raw sound what made them , then they took that album and polished it too favorite worst nightmare , then got that album and aged into AM . Sucked it and see it’s an underrated album , therefore I believe they tried to polish it and got TBHC which was really good . The car is just them trying to mature humbug which has bangers .

1-Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino (possibly my favourite album ever. the iconic parts like in “Four Stars Out Of Five” and “Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino” get stuck in my head so easily and Alex’s voice is smooth and the instrumental is amazing)
2-AM (i love this album, it just gets a tad bit boring after a while. but every once in a little while it is good)
3-Whatever People Say I Am, Thats What I’m Not (as a brit from the south, this also sounds a lot like local stuff that happens a lot, so its like a connection and oddly nostalgic)
4-Favourite Worst Nightmare (i like the idea, but i wish it had more feel and emotion. definitely in Alex’s voice)
5-Humbug (i love this album, i just think silly lyrics like “i can build you a go-kart” ruin the feel)

IMO am is an elite album, it’ll be one of those albums who will be remembered for years to come, but it’s just not the best. My list whould be:

The style is glorious, i love it. It has one of my favorite arctic monkeys songs like teddy picker, brainstorm, and this house is a circus. I love every song on the album and it never gets old.

People will get mad at me for this one, yes it’s the most popular but you’re lying if it’s not one of the best albums, it’s a beautiful album that, as i said, will be remembered for years.

I love this album, it has cornerstone, pretty visitors and potion approaching and those songs are amazing. The overall vibe is good.

I love this album, i had a hard time deciding wether to put humbug on 3 or wpsiatwin. It has a good feeling and is worth listening on repeat

1) humbug. My favourite album of all time. Has one of my favourite songs in the jewellers hands, crying lightning. Incredible instrumentals and atmospheres, great lyrics No weak songs.
2) whatever people say i am. Incredible debut. Full of catchy riffs, future classics, great lyrical delivery.
3) fwn. Again catchy riffs, 505 is a international success, alot of underrated songs.
4) tbhc. GENIUS lyrics and songwriting, amazing guitar parts that pop in and out. Very chilled and easy listening.
5)AM. What got me into arctic monkeys, also has incredible lyrics. Future classics.
6) The car. Similar too tbhc but quite not as good basically
7) suck it and see. I should probably listen to it a couple more times but im not a massive fan really. Very good heavier guitar parts and lyrics i will say.

I think the problem with humbug is how the songs follow the same formula, some epic instrumental break and then Alex singing in the end with that dark riff that everytime you listen the song again it gets boring. And his singing is so repetitive, in tbhc and the car it is, of course, but here he's trying to sound deep and smooth but keeps sounding boring. There's some of their best tracks tho like cornerstone or pretty visitors. But then there's song that you hate like the third time you listen to it like fire and the thud, dangerous animals, the jeweller's hands, potion approaching

Probably my favourite album of all time. I love it so fucking much, can never get bored of it! The Jewellers Hands & Secret Door my fave AM songs.
2. TBH&C
What can I say? I adore the style and concept of this whole album, some of Alex’s best lyric writing to date. The Ultracheese, Star Treatment & One Point Perspective stand out to me specifically.
3. SIAS
This album just gives summer vibes. I wasn’t too big on it at first but it grew on me after some time.
4. FWN
A classic, who doesn’t love it?

Another classic. I don’t have a big attachment for it though, some songs just aren’t my vibe unfortunately. A Certain Romance however is definitely in my top 5 AM songs.

I’ve never been too big on this one, tbh. It’s a very hit and miss album for me, I found some of the songs very basic compared to normal AM standards, like Mad Sounds. Additionally, it’s become very tiktokified. Kinda ruined I Wanna Be Yours for me but I still like the song 😅

Not a masterpiece like a lot of people insist, still a great album. It’s grown on me but it still remains my least favourite.

Body paint is one of my favourite ones in every recent discography. Humbug, on the other hand, doesn't do ir for me, but sometimes I'm in the mood for it. Either way, every AM album is great by itself, and there is no denying that.

Although I respect everyone's opinion and it's valid, AM is a very repectitive album with a lot of identical songs that don't really add much afterall. It's a good album, but I think vastly overrated by a large portion of the fanbase

I’d agree there is a repetition to the album, but the exact same goes for Whatever People Say, FWN, Suck It And See and certainly The Car in reference the his vocal monologue performance being prevalent on almost every track. All albums I love, but I do find it strange the repetition gets brought up only in relation to AM.
@@T.I.L.P It is indeed a nice question but I can only speak for myself. I agree on WPSIAM and SIAS being repetitive. Disagree on FWN and The Car. You can argue on those last 2 being the 'same energy' but they don't use the 'same formula' on all songs like they do on AM; SIAS or WPSIAM.
FWN goes from Fluorescent Adolescent that is completely different from 505 that is completely different from Brianstorm that is completely different from If You Were There, Beware. Also The Car uses a lot of different instruments from music to music, you can hear a full synth show like Sculptures, guitar solos on Big Ideas or The Car, a beautiful, lounge TBHC vibes like Aint Quite, piano shows like Mirrorball. I think it delivers A LOT seriously. WPSIAM is repetitive yes, but it's a different sort of repetitive. Mainly what I think differs one from the other is how riff-based is AM, at some point you think you've been listening to the same riff for 5 musics in a row already. Anyways, for example Knee Socks and No1 Party Anthem are for me top-10 Arctic Monkeys songs.
@@wishmaster8198 I see what you mean for FWN, but I really think you could say the same argument for AM through Do I Wanna, Fireside, Mad Sounds, No1 party Anthem. Only one of those songs had a substantial guitar riff. To me, having listened to FWN since release, the repetition is the same standard as AM; roughly 60-70% of the album is repetitive and that’s not a bad thing. It’s the same with the majority of albums; you need the dips on slow songs/change ups for the flow of the work, to then be brought back into the main aspect of the album.
Also I completely get the instrumental of the car is varied, that’s why I said the vocal performance was repetitive; it’s all the same style of monologue singing, which is highly repetitive on the album. It’s also why a lot of people have criticised the album, as it can become overbearing. I personally don’t mind it but it does lose me a little at times, but remains generally kept up due to the varied instrumental.
I still love all the albums though! It’s fine we disagree too; all part of the reception of music :) thanks for the interesting perspective!

7. SIAS. Personally, it's too much relaxing and indie for me, some songs are quite good though. It's just an album I would like to listen, for example, when I want to relax.
6. TBHC. It has a particular style that could be appreciated just by few people, and i'm not one of them. I like some songs like one point perspective, tbhc and american sports, but it has some mechanical sounds that can't allow me to define it a sort of masterpiece.
5. wpsiatwin. I know that everyone loves it, but the garage band style, with the battery as a protagonist, it's just not my style, although i would scream if they would play "when the sun goes down" at a gig.
4. the car. It's an evolution of tbhc but it's like less drunk. Here there are some songs that, in my opinion, are one of their best works, such as body paint and mirrorball but also scuptures.
3. humbug. I'm in love with my propeller, my favourite riff. Anyway, it's a really great album.
2. AM. Nothing to say, although that some songs of it bore me and i can't deny it. I want it all and mad sounds are always skipped.
1. fwn. Even if the garage style didn't fade away completely, i must admit that, to me, it's their best album. It gives me some melancholical and nostalgical vibes, and here there is also my favourite song of all, if you were there beware.

1-The car: Personally I think this album is just so underrated. The aspect and change of perspective from tbhc and the car was not too different but still unique. The lyrics and orchestral sound of this are just so beautiful and I think every single song can make you feel a different emotion. This album was something I had to listen to around 5 times until I started to like it. This album pretty much shows how much they have matured and that change is good.
2-Suck it and see: People define like to say this album is bland and not very groovy but I can disagree. I don’t think people understand how much this album is directed around love songs and great lyrics, whilst still having that groovy hook they have had forever. This album was definitely very different from humbug to an aspect, with a more poppy and pop rock sound, but I still think this is one of their best.
3-TBHC: I think this album was such a great change that AM fans were hung up over, since people wanted more albums that sounded like their old stuff. This was probably the biggest change but the story built around the lyrics and the new jazz sound was such a hard stage for some people to get over, but this album was one of those that you had to listen to over and over again to start to actually like it, just like the car.
4-Humbug: Sometimes this is something that you sort of reach back to every once in a while. People love this album for its mysterious sound and new sound but it’s really not my cup of tea. Honestly this album is great and all the songs are distinct but I still love this album, just not something I go and listen to frequently.
5-WPSIATWIN: This record really goes back to time in Sheffield where they lived and hits the whole garage rock sound. These songs are lively and definitely more “rock n roll” that what I normally listen to but this albums great beats and sound is just so great. Deciding whether to put this or humbug be for eachother was definitely hard, but this album is something where the tracks never get old.
6-Favorite Worst Nightmare: While this album is very good and catchy, I just don’t really tune into this stuff. Obviously their sound was sort of different from their first, and sort of a transition album for humbug. While this album is really good, I just don’t consider it a masterpiece.
7-AM: Everyone’s opinions on this album are different and controversial. Whilst some of these songs are overplayed, they never get old. This is ranked last because I’m just not into the sound of this album, and prefer the other ones. Some of their tracks like mad sounds or r u mine? Are still really good but I don’t think these songs are in my top 10 because they just really aren’t my style.
I was mostly agreeing with u until u put TBHC above favourite worst nightmare and WPSIATWIN, the first 2 albums And AM r all albums that I could listen to the whole way through without skipping a song, and suck it and see is by far their most underrated album, just my opinion, their newer stuff is decent but I find it a bit boring sometimes

7 - Suck It And See
Now, every album from the Arctic Monkeys are incredibly good, and this album sits at incredibly good, but just not at perfectly good. This album does have the same vibe to it as Humbug, but I do feel like it sure was a down grade, but not anything to major. This album also has a lot of good songs such as Love is a Laserquest, Don't Sit Down 'Cause I've Moved Your Chair, Black Treacle, but especially my favorite; She's Thunderstorms. Good album, but not enough to be high on the list.
6 - The Car
The Car is surprisingly good. It's not as good as TBH+C, but it does have some really great songs like The Car and There'd Better Be a Mirrorball. Not only that, but it has my favorite Arctic Monkeys song ever; Body Paint.
5 - Humbug
It's just a better version of Suck It and See, and again, it does have some of their greatest songs such as My Propeller, Crying Lightning, Cornerstone, Dance Little Liar and Pretty Visitors.
4 - Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino
I do understand that some people hate this album because it completely changed what they sound like from rock to jazz, but in reality, the Monkeys were always changing they're sound from punk to rock to R&B all the way to jazz. It's just such a beautifully orchestral album with some absolute bangers such as Star Treatment, One Point Perspective, Four out of Five (one of the best in my opinion), She Looks Like Fun, Batphone and The Ultracheese.
3 - Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not
This is the only album of theirs that the fandom simply cannot hate. Have you ever heard someone say that this album is bad? Yeah, me neither. It has that rough garage rock sound to it, which I deeply love and it's also one of the only albums for now on to have multiple good songs such as The View from the Afternoon, I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor (really good), Fake Tales of San Francisco, Still Take You Home, Mardy Bum (also really good), When the Sun Goes Down (also, also really good), A Certain Romance and From the Ritz to the Rubble (also, also, also really good)
2 - Favourite Worst Nightmare
Were getting to the territory where I basically like every single damn song on the certain album, which basically summarizes this album. I just think every song in this album is good and there's no point on naming them, but I guess my favorites are Teddy Picker, Balaclava, This House is a Circus, Fluorescent Adolescent, 505 and my favorite; Old Yellow Bricks.
1 - AM
Just like he said, the people that say that they don't like this album either have a 1% chance of actually not enjoying this type of music and the rest of the 99% are the same type of people that think "Popular + Music = Overrated." While this album does have a few flaws, the rest are all near perfect in sound. Some of the best songs in this album are also kinda the worst, like Do I Wanna Know. I just think that this song struggles with its identity because of how messy the song can sometimes sound with a bunch of instruments thrown together to make an incoherent sound when the main part kicks in, but also, holy fvking sh1t, the intro and the outro of this song along with some of the chorus are one of the most beautifully crafted masterpieces in the whole music industry as a whole. Another complain I have about this album is the fact that it suffers from what I'd like to call the 'AM Effect", where some of the songs could be really good (such as I Wanna Be Yours and I Want it All), but they suffer from having the same rhythm that doesn't change all along the song, and sometimes they get quieter, but they never slow down, change pitch as much as they should and change the rhythm overall. This is why I Want it All is one of the weakest songs. And then we have Mad Sounds. Do I even need to say anything? But besides all of the bad stuff, this album is just perfect.
