Bill that hood and front spoiler do not do anything for the Monte. Love the car( had an 81 Monte that had black paint with wine interior). LOVE the paint but to each their own!!
The level of quality in your shop is amazing. I’m a retired painter/bodyman who did mostly collision work for about 40 years. I restored 15-20 cars in that time span also and it was always refreshing to be able to spend the time needed to a beautiful job. I’m so impressed with your attitude and dedication to doing things right. Good to know that the current generation has got this!
I’ve actually thought about making a video of that lol. She could wetsand and buff epoxy primer, spray paint, or even rolled on rustoleum probably to a mirror. The final refinishing side of the process is a major factor in the end result. Application, material quality, and procedures used is most important in longevity.
OUTFRICKINGSTANDING!!!! THAT CAR LOOKS WICKED! Everything from the perfect paint on the hood, the front bumper work with that custom made to fit like it came from the factory lower spoiler. And the Amazing attention to detail you guy's and gal :) have shown to this Monte Carlo, absolutely gives it Legendary status. WOW! WOW! And more WOW! Fantastic job House of Pearls crew! Lawd have mercy! 👍👍
Speaking of air compressors, we got a rotary screw compressor and it is awesome! Nice and quiet and absolutely incredible air output. Nice job guys, always top notch quality.👍🏼👍🏼
And you get much cleaner, drier air too from a screw compressor. If I was ever able to open back up that’s the compressor I’d install without hesitation
Thank you! Yeah we all have our own taste. I personally think it improved the look a ton and made the car much more aggressive and less grandpa looking. The world would be a boring place if we all had the same taste 👍
@@HouseofPearlsabsolutely it’s what makes this a beautiful world to be in ..diversification… for sure. Your work is exceptional. Please keep up the great work and the awesome content.❤❤
Cuda is lookin like a mirror! That's awesome! I miss doing paint work! You guys knocked it out on the Monte! Being a painter, I know how hard it is to make black look good, and it's 100% in the detail!
The old man’s monte turned out sweet. Thanks for the pointers I’m getting into paint correction and body work as a midlife crisis hobby. Tips help. Keep rocking y’all. 🤘
Definitely a favorite of mine as well! My grandpa had two 69’s. Both in the original red, with black stripes. One was an LS3 and the other a 396 if I’m not mistaken. I always hoped to own one of those cars one day lol. Loved them ever since I was a kid and the only muscle car I ever knew what it was until I started doing this for a living. (Born in ‘92 lol)
Wow the black primer really shows how bad the metal really is. Hard to fix someone else’s mistakes. You guy’s put out the best Product hands down. Professional to Detail! 😃😃😃
Definitely not as enjoyable as starting from original, but it’s much more common to fix other shops mistakes than it is to get a solid car with no corners cut on the work. There’s levels to it though. This chevelle wasn’t too bad compared to a lot of others we’ve done
Thank you! It’s easy to let your attitude take a nosedive while doing this kind of work so we all try to be upbeat and helpful to each other throughout the day and that seems to help a ton. It helps that we’ve all been friends for so long too and doing what we enjoy
Have commented before on the level of quality work you guys and girls do! It's great! Would love to see a video on how each of you started and learned to be perfectionist! Thanks for the videos
Always wondered the same, did they attend JVS for auto body while in high school or did the go through a community college program after HS, c’mon Jesse, Enquirering minds want to know where your guys Greatness began!! It would be a very interesting video for many of us when you guys & gal have time
You found yourself a GOLDMINE with Nikki. Not only does she get out there and work with you but she's Good at it too. If any of the women I dated were even remotely interested in cars we'd probably still be together, hell I've had them leave saying I loved cars more than them, can't say they were wrong tho. HAHAHA I got my Certification in autobody back in highschool , was a master mechanic as well. Ended up building houses most my life.
🎉🎉 interesting, I didn't know that a body shop would have used a dent guy on a old thick metal vehicle. I assumed it was only for new thin can vehicles. Thank you for taking time for the content and God bless all 🎉🎉
You do amazing work hate to say it but most shops have a cut corners and rush it out approach. So to see how much attention to detail you do is refreshing keep up the great work and awesome video's. P.S. You all rock
You guys do really nice work. I’ve trained and done a lot of bodywork over the years so I know how much it takes to do this. Amazing. Yeah I like hammers and dollies too. Keep it up.
The think I’ve found with bad stud welder work is misuse of it. People like to put all of the studs all at once with full force. I’ve always did them little by little and use the slide gently and then put constant pressure on the slide and tapping the damaged area accordingly all around. Sometimes even putting a little heat on the damaged area with my butane torch that comes with and used for shrink wrap. Sometimes you just have to think outside the box when doing metal work.
Yep there’s sometimes when a stud welder is a necessary evil and there’s ways to mitigate the damage and have a quality repair. I’ve just found better results with glue pulling and pdr rods on 90% of dents. You’re absolutely right though. A torch, water rag, shrinking disc and body hammers can all be used with a stud welder to get decent end results.
Back in the 70s when I started out in body shops all there was to buff with was wool pads and there was not all these different compounds so to buff something out that was black you had to know what you were doing and work your ass off my jeep and my monte carlo SS are black also my brothers square body is black it's single stage so it's really black we had a body shop supplier that sold all the compound and glaze to us so my brother used it alot and I used 3M perfect it system. That I love and I still love my wool pad and finish it off with a orbital buffer with a micro fiber pad for my glaze my brother is the best I've seen with black and I'm good enough and never had any complaints I hate when people try to polish black and don't get the scratches out and it's muddy looking and full of swirl marks there is so many more products as far as paint and polishing and yes back in the 70s the finest sand paper was 600 grit and only corse compound I'd love to come work with you guys and we could learn from one another you could show me some new stuff and I could show you some old paint tricks we used to blend both clear and single stage paint so many people had trouble blending clear back in the 80s it would leave a halo effect where you blended it but I solved that problem buy using a hotter reducer dupont imron reducer was the key. And it's still better then any blender they have on the market it's hotter and burns in. Great video guys
My Aunt and Uncle had a 74 Monte Carlo with the 454 in black on black. I always thought that it was a beautiful car. I was pissed when one of my stupid cousins snuck out one night taking the Monte Carlo and getting drunk and totaling the car. He was so afraid of my Uncle’s ire, he went and joined the army the next day. Dumb ass. I’d love to have one today. Wouldn’t need to be a show car but a nice daily would be great. Swapped to a modern LS and four speed automatic so you got decent mileage and reliable transportation. There are several great suspension packages to make the handle well. You might have to drop $30k to get it really right but today $30k doesn’t buy even a shit box of a new car. Might as well have a classic car.
I can’t thank you guys enough for your friendship.
I love the monte. They did a great job!
Your car looks so good Bill
Bill that hood and front spoiler do not do anything for the Monte. Love the car( had an 81 Monte that had black paint with wine interior). LOVE the paint but to each their own!!

I’ve actually thought about making a video of that lol. She could wetsand and buff epoxy primer, spray paint, or even rolled on rustoleum probably to a mirror. 🎉🎉 interesting, I didn't know that a body shop would have used a dent guy on a old thick metal vehicle. I assumed it was only for new thin can vehicles. Thank you for taking time for the content and God bless all 🎉🎉
I had the same assumption until a few years ago when I was proven wrong and we started using this procedure 👍
It looks badass but it look even better with the newer Monte Carlo SS rear spoiler I had one and it looked awesome
Agreed! That’d look really nice

Yep we use dt series reducers on the rare occasion we do a clearcoat blend. Typically we do full panel refinishes unless absolute last resort
Awesome Work
