- Not only did 'Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island' revitalize the entire Scooby-Doo franchise, it also featured more murder than a Tarantino film.

If you take a closer look, you'll notice the pirate digging the hole at 9:55 is actually the zombie whose head was ripped off in the film.
The curse is Simone, Lena and Jacque have to drain the souls from people (possibly animals to likely dogs) in order to stay alive and reserve their immortality if they don't meet those requirements they will die and their cat god claims their souls which brings in the zombies who are their victims as they know they can't rest in peace due to being bound by the curse which is probably the reason why for hundreds of years they tried to foil the werecats plans but always failed somehow their goal was to break the curse while the werecats goal was to continue it.
Also, when adding a fudge factor for early sacrifices, entire family groups, boats of people and clusters of victims would be easier for them to handle than always trying to get two victims. There could have been lots of slaughter going on during those special nights! All they would have to do is eliminate the boat they arrived in and they would be stranded.
16:22. That one was most likely blamed upon something along the lines of an outbreak of Typhoid Fever or some other similar disease which ran rampant at the time.
4:00 There's no way this movie had a higher kill count than those horror franchises. Jason alone had at least 200.
4:21 I stand corrected.
Ah yes my favorite horror franchise, Batman Vs Superman
14:10
You stand corrected
If the cat gods demand human sacrifice, you have to wonder just how "innocent" that colony really was...
They probably offered cat mint or small animals for health and prosperity. Human sacrifices were for vengeance.
It could also be why those settlers were on the island to begin with. I have a theory that another member of the cult was behind the beast of Gevuadan and they fled to Louisiana after being found out.
@@musicgirl12357 Oh no, the Dog Gods were behind the beast of Gevaudan. They had their own colony just around the corner...
They only started the human sacrificing after the killing of the pirates
Always nice to see people talking about how dark and "real" this movie got compared to its other movies. The cat people honestly scared me as a child because, to me, they'd clearly been killing a LOT of people for a really long time and almost succeeded again with the Scooby gang.
Greatest Scooby-Doo ever imagine a live action movie of this it better be Rated R.
Well as of yesterday a live action version the scene where every zombie comes out of the water exists.
In the American Horror Stories season finale “Lake” *spoilers* a bunch of zombies walk out of the water to take the episodes familys father.
10:50 Guy gets brutally murdered
Two seconds later: Cheerful Scooby Doo music
Great video dude
You know I would have love if we seen zombie police officers and spies as victims because the island was under investigation due to disappearances and it would have made sense for police officers do some investigation on the island and falls victims to the werecats the zombies makes you question how old Simone and Lena actually are and it's clear the victims coming back as zombies is a side effect of the curse due to the fact the zombies job is to warn and let potential victims that they are in danger and help try to get them off the island and the zombies of course know the werecats need to drain souls to stay alive I like how the zombies aren't scared of the werecats and fight them.
The zombies don't have their souls in them anymore so of course their gonna fight them I imaging their pretty pissed off because of the fact they can't rest peacefully
My guess as to why there aren't that many police or spies' zombies- I'm sure there are some that did become victims- is that Simone and Lena didn't want too much suspicion put on them. Even if a werecat can fight off a police investigation or FBI team doesn't mean that they would want to. It would be too much effort for them.
Yeah, it would be more effective to let them investigate and come up with nothing. When police are faced with a hard job like proving supernatural they would instantly give up. @@musicgirl12357
I was always disappointed we never got to see The Civil War Colonel's zombie, I mean we see his ghost but never his zombie form.
We actually do see him and another Confederate soldier jumps on Simone and Lena from preventing them from draining Shaggy and Scooby souls then they throws them.
Edit : He is apparently the only character exclusive to the movie that has no involvement with the Moonscar curse plot.
It was never explained why he was apparently not a target of the werecats. - scooby wiki
So my question is did Simone and Leena not know about snakebite ??? He didn't seem to be a victim or even know about the cat creatures just kept to himself on the river but Jaques could of seen him
Hard victim, as he is great with weapons, untrusting, and not willing to stay in one house. There are easier targets. If things got desperate they probably had a plan for him.
One thing you said that didn't make sense was towards the end where you said "They could of lived and died of old age" but at the end of the film. When they didn't fulfil the curse they died instantly, It's not like they lost the curse and then lost the chance to shapeshift.
I suspect the reason they died instantly isn't because the curse wasn't fulfilled. It was due to them being over two hundred years old and all those years catching up with them instantly once they failed at draining the Gang.
If Simone and Lena hadn't been killing all those people over the years, they'd have died of old age gradually, just like most of us will.
Unless you're unlucky enough to have your lifeforce drained by evil cat creatures.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@JoeGoesOver And what about Jock then? If he was in his 60s and he had been draining for 20 years he would of been at a liveable age of 80... Which is why I think not fulfilling the curse is what killed them.
I can’t help but wonder how accurate your guess for when Jacques became a cat creature is. It sounds like your basing your guess off of his ability to drive the modern ferry, but they easily could have upgraded over time. It’s not like Simone and Lena didn’t adapt with changing times, since we see Lena drive a pickup truck early on, and the house seems to have had electric lights installed. I’m just saying that there’s more factors than what you said.
Oh agreed, but the more factors, the wilder and harder to parse numbers you get. He was trying to go with something *simple* and the Diesel engine being used as the time gate makes it a LOT simpler, thank god lol
I agree my money is that he was turned in the late 19th century.
I wish Simone and Lena had a prequel that answered more questions about their past lives, like were they harmless settlers just trying to live peaceful lives practicing their religion or were they in some wacky cult. Maybe explain why Moonscar killed the settlers, like was it really due to silencing them of the whereabouts of his buried treasure, or was it something else like maybe Moonscar was a Christian who thought the settlers were evil devil worshipers and so that's why he wiped them out, they could also focus on why Simone and Lena chose to drain the live force of other victims even after they killed the pirates and how throughout the two centuries they lured victims to their island, also explain the backstory of Jacque was he sick and only had a short time to live and that's why they gave him immortality or was it something else
I wouldn't make more of it than it is. Moonscar (like many real life pirates) murdered people because his treasure hiding spot was meant to be kept a secret. It wasn't about religion. As for SImone and Lena, they were cursed, they likely would have died immediately after the first harvest moon after exacting their revenge. Rather than accept the choice they made, they continued their killing spree. Jacques could have been either dying or just was intrigued with the idea of living forever and thought the cost was worth it.
Not going to lie. This is a well thought out and calculated estimate of the body count of victims that fell victim to Lena, Simone and Jacques over the time they drained people to preserve their immortality, be it people they've lured to the island or people who were coming there of their own free will. We got to have a bit of a history lesson and it involved an estimate or theory based off the best animated Scooby Doo film of all time.
You can thank my daughter for this, and our long discussions on just how many people were killed by the Cat Creatures.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@JoeGoesOver You and your daughter are truly blessed.
haha wow impressively made done for such a small channel. I hear there is a sequel to this coming out. Though in my opinion everything was pretty much tied up pretty well in the last movie so im not so sure how they would continue
Yeah, the sequel sucked.
Zombie islands theme song was and and still is amazing
What time is it?
Why it's TERROR... TIME AGAIN...!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
🎵They’ve got you running through the night🎵
Somebody would have to be insane to dress up like a monster as a way to get away with a crime
I think plenty of the victims randomly showed up on the island and end falling victim to Simone and Lena at the wrong time it's said if there is no victims on the island in time of the Harvest Moon Lena will go and somehow bring victims to the island luring them and her, Simome and Jacque drain the victims life force they had to drain life forces for 199 years not 200 since they failed at 200 so 199 years they had to drain victims so it can be probably over thousands of victims cause some of them more likely come on the island as groups and I think the soldiers took refuge on the island from war but ended up getting their souls drained.
The backstory of Simone and Lena is tragic however you can say the pirates dying were deserving consequences I guess but what the two did isn't justifiable they kidnapped and murdering innocent victims draining their souls and make them apart of the curse and I think the victims turning into zombies are consequences of their actions.
Jacque being a werecat makes sense if he wasn't in on the deal it would become obvious from the public that no one returned after being dropped off from the island I'll say he been a werecat for 100 years at least.
Simone & Lena backstory is tragic but they became worse than Moonscar and his pirate crew and I think the reason he's good as a zombie is cause Simone & Lena brought innocent lives into the matter and he seem to be the lead zombie as he was ressurected first and he was the werecats first victim I don't think Simone & Lena drain the souls of people off the island cause the island is very isolated which why nobody heard from the victims ever again the zombies are all from different time periods so who knows how many souls the werecats drained.
I’m here after the sequel, Return to Zombie Island was announced
Lol "fred zoned" 😂
Actually in Jason X 20,000 people died aboard the Solaris space station according to the screenwriter.
There needs to be more scooby doo set in Louisiana. It makes me happy
Music of the Vampire is in Louisiana.
You have great Scooby doo content! Thanks for putting this and the mystery inc video out.
The movie should have been called Scooby-Doo and the murder Island.
Zombie island is straight up one of my favorite Scooby-Doo movies. It actually managed to scare me a little as a kid x3
Well done! It just goes to show just how murderous Simone and Lena could be!
However, it's not mentioned whether or not Lena and Simone traveled away from the island, but considering the isolation of the island and lack of attractions beyond New Orleans, it's possible. It would seem they traveled frequently to the city for supplies and as mentioned, lured unsuspecting victims back with them. However, Jacques could very possibly be older than believed. Although you have him as being a cat creature for about 20 years, he could have joined the girls much sooner. A ferryman would have been necessary to bring them to the mainland to help them reach needed supplies from New Orleans and of course to bring potential victims back. It would have been harder for two women to do so alone, even if they were cat creatures! Jacques likely was a traditional ferryman from the 19th century and as par for the course of living over a century, came to learn to operate and acquire new technology like diesel engines and modern boat designs.
We know Lena at least knows how to drive, since we see her drive a pickup truck early on in the movie.
Great job, but I think even from the start they would have died if they didn't drain a soul every year on the harvest moon, kinda got kick started when they first drained Morgan Moonscar and his gang.
I think so too, because they described themselves as "cursed" by the Cat Gods rather than being blessed.
Humm....Human victims - Yet Scooby is a dog, and they try draining him too? Something strange is afoot! Either 1) The cat ladies could just change their diet to dogs 2) Scooby continues to be a mysterious anomaly. 3) They just were being vindictive and wanted to "without any real gain" drain Scooby - And seeing how cats tend to emm...Exterminatus things, for fun sometimes....
A lifeforce is a lifeforce in this movie it would seem.
@@MegaMagicdog Then they coulda in theory just drained random animals and not had to go after people....then again they got their powers from a cat god to kill pirates, and I do no think they remembered to ask said kitty deity about the pros, cons, and to get to read the fine print of what this contract entails.
Scooby is a furry. Not a dog
And/or shaggy is a wizard
Great episode mate. Saw this before. Came back to have another look at it. I enjoy it.
This movie + the Mystery Inc show saved Scooby Doo
I was shipping Velma and Beau the Gardener/Cop during the entirety of this movie

Me laughing in Minecraft
Personally, I don't think Simone and Leena would have gotten too far at least not in the first hundred to hundred fifty years since there wouldn't be a lot of good transportation at that time. It could be that they inspired the Rougarou legends since they are in New Orleans. Maybe inspiring some other legends in nearby states but not much further than that. They wouldn't be inspiring for example the Dogman of Michigan which was first spotted in 1887. Louisiana is 1124.3 miles and that's by car which wasn't invented yet. It would have taken a longer period of time for them to get there, and they probably wouldn't have wanted suspicion cast on them if they were to kill a bunch of members of a traveling party to maintain their immortality. Think about it they weren't really seen as suspects for good reason and that's because they did what they could to maintain appearances and avoid suspicion by the authorities.
Your comment on 4 fingers reminded me of something off topic. For those of you who are fans of dragon ball but did not read the manga, piccolo was actually originally designed with only 4 fingers.
I enjoyed this immensely, keep it up
Good comparison with Millers batman and zombie island. Would be nice to see how the Scooby Gang would've fair in the DC Universe
YO! That “Skinwalker” Clip at 15:44, where is it from?!
It's from 'Xtro' (1982).
Fantastic video and theory. I really enjoyed the video, thanks!
Don’t forget the entire confederate regiment they massacred
14:49. Personally I’d expect NCIS.
But this still leaves one question....
Why did the ferry boat man become so buff!? It doesn’t make any sense!
well it might have boosted his testosterone but we dont see any other male cat creatures so we cant be sure
I can believe I was scared of the Yawi Yah Who from Legend of the vampire as a kid but not Zombie Island Wicht has actual fucking zombies and werecats
10:38. I don’t think that word means what you think it means.
Hot dang 😳😱😳 that’s messed up number of deaths 💀
Do think when I see this movie somewhere in the cursed Swamp Fever
".....and even the 87 entrees on the Donner party menu..." BRO Duuuuuuuuuuud that was hilariously dark LOL!
Scooby-Doo and the zombie Island was really good but Scooby-Doo and return to zombie island was really bad.
Not gonna lie, I really thought Lena and Jacque were nice people when I was a kid and for Simone to be stern not evil. But wow it fool me as a child.
It's always the ones you least suspect.
Well, not REALLY. Often it's EXACTLY who you MOST suspect.
But that's real life.
It's a lot easier for fictional people to get away with it!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Awesome video.
However, I don't think they could have chosen to die of old age, as it is clearly shown that they die if they don't harvest anyone during the harvest moon.
So, had they chosen to live normal lives, they would only have lived until the next harvest moon following the massacre of Moonscar (unless I'm missing something).
Other than that, everything about the video was great.
Admittedly it's difficult to debate because there were few definite answers in the film.
Perhaps a yearly sacrifice isn't always necessary. Maybe Simone and Lena's lifespans were increased by how many victims they consumed? If that is the case, could it be that the number of pirates they murdered would have been enough for a normal lifespan? We were led to believe a sacrifice every harvest moon was required, but we only have Simone's word and she wasn't exactly a trustworthy source.
Regardless of all this, Simone and Lena got their revenge on the pirates and that should have been enough for them to rest in peace, even if it meant dying a year later. However, they chose to continue to murder innocent people to extend their own lives- not a decision inherently good people would make.
This got me thinking that perhaps Moonscar massacred the settlers not because they were trespassing on his island, but because he recognized them as evil cultists. After all, it was suspiciously easy for Simone and Lena to get the ability to transform into terrifying monsters for members of a so-called "peaceful" religion.
@@JoeGoesOver Interesting theory. If the "List of Scooby-Doo media" page of wikipedia is to be believed, we're getting a sequel to Zombie Island.
Who knows what revelations are in store for us :)
We're never told that the cat god religion is "peaceful" nor does the cat god religion make any pretense of being "peaceful".
@@JoeGoesOver Simone she must drain the life force from victims to reserve her immortality every harvest moon so she wasn't lying at all as it showed what happened to her Lena and Jacque when the three of them failed to drain Mystery Inc and Beau of their souls the Harvest Moon is their deadline to stay alive so they can't live to old age and when they cursed the pirates it was on the Harvest Moon which marks the day they were also curse.
In the flashback it was shown one spice trader picking peppers and Lena and Simone popped up on him to drain him so it don't matter how many number of people there is for them to drain if they one or many is around in time for the Harvest Moon they die anyway.
Simone and Lena are from a cult that worship cats which why they serve a cat god and it's followers knows how to do voodoo which it's clear their cat god is actually evil for granting their wish for revenge, turning them into cat creatures, cursing them in the process and make them drain souls for them to be immortal and have the victims turn into zombies.
This movie had me like *Holy Shit* with its deaths I mean shit I was not expecting it to be so dark
8:37 Why not just subtract? Why split?
7:46 Mid 50s? Judging by the white hair, I'd have guessed 70s-80s at the youngest!
I'd go with 60s really
You forgot about the civil war soldiers
What about the civil war zombies
We see Men and women look like their from Pronibition era of the 20s too Right?
at 17 this movie still scares me i hate this movie omg even as a kid i was like well this begining of this scooby doo movie seems like any other then i saw the werecat transformation i had to run outta the room i was so scared i had no clue what to do with myself
Can someone tell me the song around 4:10
It's called "Those Meddlin' Kids" and is featured on the "Scooby-Doo and the Witch's Ghost" soundtrack album.
'Mummified'
That's a lot of murders
I don’t understand the girls was trying to get revenge why are there the bad guys
Those girls (Simone and Lena) in the Scooby Doo on Zombie Island movie were trying to get revenge because the evil pirates killed their fellow settlers when they raided their island, they invoked their cat god to curse the pirates and turned into were cats, killed the pirates by draining their life force and later after doing all that realized that this was a curse because they would have to continue draining life forces every harvest moon for 200 years just to stay alive, they could have chose to die after killing the pirates but they didn’t
It seems believable

Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
If you factor in the events of Jason X I'm pretty sure he still has a higher kill count.
