You did that brilliantly. Thank you for this tutorial. People who can't sew often have no idea of the amount of work and ingenuity which is involved in making an alteration. You made it look so easy. A BIG WELL DONE.
Hello ! Recently a had to add 6 inches to the waist of three different pants (jeans) I watch your video on that type of alterations and I finally made a wonderful job, my client was very happy and said that I am very good at sewing, but I think that I have to give you the credit for that nice job because I made exactly what you had teach us. Thank you very much! 💛💛💛
OMG! I love this so much! Thank you for your kind words, so happy to hear about your success! It is one thing to learn the theory but it is another to apply it so kudos to you!
This is so helpful! Thank you so much! I always learn so much from you. Your customers are so lucky to have you because I have a lot of people tell me they make calls to local tailors and they can't even guarantee they can do their requests, which I find super odd. But, that means then they come to me and I can make extra money and fine tune my skills. You are helping me to get more confident with tailoring, which I am grateful for. But people do not realize there is a major difference between designing and sewing garments, then to actually taking apart and trying to make fitting adjustments after the fact. Big difference!
Awww thank you so much, I’m so glad to help! One’s (wo)man’s loss is another’s treasure! 😁 Yes there is a big difference and there is a lot of overall knowledge needed to be able to merge the two. Should be more appreciated!
Your personality is so cute and watching you is so helpful. I am just learning to sew. Very basic but watching you video helps me understand the instructions I read and also the math.
I am always amazed at your videos I am so glad I found you I have learned so much from you, I love the interfacing trick I will def use that it looks so neat. Thank you again we are so lucky to have you here to teach us.
That is a fabulous idea, specially you kept the dart just made it smaller . Like that it still looks like the original dart, just great work, I do like what you did by putting facing over the altered dart. That is a great idea. Nice work....❤❤❤❤❤❤
Oh my wasn't the customer lucky to have such a great seamstress doing her alterations. I love when you said, "just a little, 3 &1/2 inches." Was the interfacing you used on the darts a tricot or a non stretch interfacing? The knowledge and talent you possess are amazing.
It's AMAZING to see you make magic🎉❤ like you do! I don't sew much now. I learned to sew very very basic stuff in middle school & I'm in my 50's now 😅😊. At this time in my life I'm finding that most of my pants & jeans need alternations. I guess my body measurements are 😢. I'm so glad I found your channel it has helped to inspire me. Although I haven't actually done any of the work yet I am more confident that I can do the work as you have shown me how to make it happen. I really want my clothes to fit me properly. I know I will feel better & look better if they fit better. Thank you so much for sharing. You were born to do what you do & to teach 🎉❤😊
I didn't see you shift your marks, so I can't think why you would have needed to. I look forward to the solution :) Thank you for the great video, I'm always so happy to learn from you!
Thank you so much Tam! The bias in the original waistband had to be cut, therefore, I had unfinished edges. So I had to take in a little in the waistband, and I took that difference from the piece I added. I didn’t mention it in the video because I felt that it distracted from the real purpose of the job as this was a not-so-common case.
Hello. you've been making arrangements on Zara clothing. I enjoyed seeing it so much because my job is to do all the sewing arrangements for Zara here in the Azores. and you continue to always give good tips
Shirley I just found your videos and I love them, I have a few people I do alterations for can you tell me where you got your program on your computer for the alterations jobs it makes things much simpler than writing all the jobs down by hand Thanks, keep putting out those videos.
Hi! I use a software called Profit Maker. This company recently changed ownership so I think that now you need to have some kind of membership. I'm not so sure about this but you can browse. Cheers 🙂
I'm not sure if you have done a video on how to take in.... I don't know what you call them but I have a few pairs of pants that are too big in the butt & hips but they don't have side seems. They have a double stitched seem going down the middle of the pant. I'm a bit intimidated to try making the alternation & would like to see you do a video on this for guidance. The spring is almost here & I've got my work ✂️ cut out for me 😂😅 Thanks again!
So glad I found you channel a million thanks. Great Job with the tutorial, very beginner friendly. By the way what program did you use to record keep the alt?
I wish ladies slacks were made like mens pants. It would just be a matter of opening the seam on that V shaped piece on the back. Alterations are like solving a puzzle.
So some manufactures have some holes at the end of the darts. Check the dart first to be sure the hole can be covered. Then continue to let out if possible.FYI
True! You need to find an economical interfacing supplier. The cheapest I've found in North America is Cleaner's Supply. But I get it cheaper in my original country and my friends buy for me by the 20 meters which helps a lot. I also keep every small pieces as I can use them later for small projects. I hope this helps 🙂
I have a pullover jacket the alteration is putting in a new zipper. A closed zipper. Zipper is 7inches. Please, do a video for a fleece pullover zipper replaced.
How the heck does the rest of the pair of pants still fit the person's body, (hips and thighs)? When their belly had increased so much in size that you had to add 3-1/2 inches to the waist? That is at least 2 sizes difference by my calculation.
Locals are lucky to have such an expert do their complex alterations with skill and efficiency and bonhomie!
Wooowww thank you so much for this stellar compliment! 😁😁

Thank you soooo much Elaine! You’re totally right and I think that’s why we’re seeing less and less craftsmanship so I hope to inspire more people!

Not sewing related. You're looking younger and fresher. You look great in your hairstyle better than the long hairs you used to wear. 🥰
Thank you! I couldn’t cut my hair during the pandemic due to business closures and it was definitely time for a change! 😅
Totally agree! I noticed it as well and glad someone commented on Mis DT's new look!
Your video's are priceless, I have learnt so much from this vid' including valuable tips, excellent throughout.

🥰🥰🥰
Impressive - is this an expensive alteration? Thank you!
Thanks! 🥰 It is a little expensive as everything has to be open. Sometimes, the customer has to determine if it is worth it or not to do it. Cheers 😊
Great alter. Thanks
Thank you! Cheers!
So some manufactures have some holes at the end of the darts. Check the dart first to be sure the hole can be covered. Then continue to let out if possible.FYI
Yep! Sometimes they even cut out the excess of material. Thanks for your comment 🙂
@@DowntownTailoring and Clarissa: do you think the hole is where the dart end was identified or marked for the sewers?
Yes. It's a mark for sewing. 🙂
I love your videos.
Thank you so much!!
Really useful. 👍
Thanks 🥰🥰🥰
How do you add 3 inches to pants that does not have any darts? I love your videos!
Can you please tell me what the iron-on tape is called to iron over the darts. Thank you. Kathy👍
Hi! I think I used tricot interfacing. But you can use pellon interfacing as well. Cheers 😊
I have the exact same pants and same problem can I send them to you
I would be grateful if you would discuss how you decide interface weight or type? I find interface is where most of my $$$ is wasted.
